Rumors surfaced on ESPN today suggesting that the Celtics are open to dealing Rajon Rondo in exchange for a proven scorer. I'm not necessarily endorsing this as a good decision, but Danny Granger very closely approximates what the Celtics are looking for. He plays a similar position to Paul Pierce, and the idea is to find a player who can complement rather than replace Pierce, but Danny can also play the 2 or the 4. There aren't that many star-caliber scorers in a position to be traded at the moment. If the Celtics are truly open to moving Rondo for a serious scorer, it's difficult to believe they wouldn't take a look at Granger. We'd need to trade Collison in order to make it happen, and we might be a worse team when the dust settled, but it doesn't sound like an outlandish scneario. Trade Machine predicts -5 wins for the Celtics and no change in win % for the Pacers.
