The biggest problem in Indiana for the past 4 years has been the playoff drought. Have you noticed who coached the team during each of these lousy years? Yep, Jim O'Brien has been squatting on the sideline during our drought, and his disconnection from the players is the reason we have sucked.
Frank Vogel, on the other hand, is a players' coach. I think we're seeing the exact situation that Charlotte just went through with Larry Brown. Brown didn't connect to the players, but his assistant did. (Also, Larry was embarrassed to coach such a bad team.) Anyway, Vogel will tweak O'Brien's lineup to feature more youth, especially in closeout situations.
Did you ever think you'd see Paul George closing out a game for the Pacers this season? Well, that's courtesy of the new philosophy in Indianapolis, and I expect it to draw sellout crowds for the 2011 NBA Playoffs.
So what say you, Pacer People? Is Vogel a permanent fit?
