Fantasy Love
It's hard to find something interesting in the world of the NBA at the beginning of September but I found this little bit of love to our Pacers on ESPN. Brian McKitish's fantasy rankings have Danny once again towards the top at 6. Ahead of players such as Carmelo Anthony (10), Tyreke Evans (15), Deron Williams (7), and Dwight Howard (8). But I figured since Troy Murphy, who has been one of the few shining Pacers in fantasy leagues is off the team, that Danny would be our only knight in shining armor when it comes to the online league. Thing is, Darren Collison is ranked 35th ahead of the aforementiond Murphy (41) and other player such as Rudy Gay (42) and Devin Harris (46). Roy also gets a shout out in the 150 player list at 94 in front of such players like Emeka Okafor (103), Vince Carter (99), and Lamar Odom (95). This is just a nice little reminder of the stats that we can possibly put up from the new anchors of our organization. I'm excited, are you?

Danny is regularly a top-10 pick
I got him at #7 last year and traded him for Dirk Nowitzki (9th overall) and blocked shots to a Pacers fan.
Murphy routinely goes in the 30s too, and over the last few seasons has ended up #1, #2 or #3 at his position (PF/C) and is easily the best fantasy center-eligible player over that span For those who don’t follow fantasy basketball, most league systems favor Murphy’s pts/rebounds/FG%/3-pointers made/FT% combo to Dwight Howard’s pts/rebounds/blocks/FG% combo.
Howard’s low FT% and high TO rate usually leave him going in the 40s, even though he’s clearly several notches more talented than Murphy. At the very least, even if you’re the biggest Murphy fan and biggest Howard hater, you have to admit Howard’s a world-class post defender and Murphy’s, well, um…NOT.
So fantasy doesn’t necessarily reflect how good experts think players are, especially in basketball where sometimes the best players are undervalued and ineffective in the fantasy game.
