Lance Stephenson Says He Has Not Yet Talked With Larry Bird, Pacers
We all know the story about what happened with point guard Lance Stephenson. The second-round pick of the 2010 NBA Draft for the Indiana Pacers was arrested for beating his girlfriend at his apartment.
According to what the prosecutors have said, Stephenson was waiting for his girlfriend, Jasmine, to come inside his apartment room. Jasmine came in along with two of her friends. Stephenson said, "Are you kidding me?" and pushed her down the stairs. Then, once she fell on the last step, Stephenson punched her.
It was a story many Pacers' fans should be disappointed about since Lance should be one of the hopeful stars of the future for Indiana. Along with that, Indy has already gone through much troubles with their players in the past like Stephen Jackson, Shawne Williams, Jamaal Tinsley, and a few more.
Stephenson told the press today that he is aware of the disappointment in team president Larry Bird and the Pacers' staff and facility. Stephenson is aware of the comments Bird made in the team's press release statement. Stephenson wants to stay focused now and hope things can work out now. Stephenson talked to the press at the New York Knicks' training facility where the rookies photographed for the NBA rookie pack cards.
"I'm just going to try to stay focused," Stephenson said. "I'm going to talk to him, see how he feels about it and I'm going to move forward from it."
The 19-year-old hopes to help out Indy after being drafted out of Cincinnati. According to many NBA Draft experts, they say that he is the steal of the draft. Indiana is still regarding the facts and information on the situation.
"Regardless of the outcome of the investigation, Lance should not have put himself in the position he was in early Sunday morning. We have consistently emphasized to our players the importance of not putting themselves in situations where bad things can happen. Once all the facts are known we will deal appropriately with Lance so that he, the team and the entire Pacers community understands that this message cannot be ignored," Bird said in his statement.
The league is also monitoring this situation.

Nice try...
I guess people just don’t wanna comment on it now. Understandable because it started to hurt my gut thinking about it.

I feel for Larry
for the fact he finally branched out, made a “risky” type pick, and look what happens. Regardless of the verdict in this case, the news is still out there, and some damage has been done. He makes a PHENOMENAL trade, takes a shot on a draft pick, and it feels like we are in 05 06 07 again. Stephenson is a hell of a talent for a young kid, or so it seems, and to lose him like this will be just another step back when we really cant afford it.

Stephenson
Let me preface this by saying I don’t think there is a situation where domestic violence is called for, but I do hope the pacers do make sure they gather all the facts before making a descision, and I hope the fans do also on two fronts. First when it comes to Lance, it is possible this is someone trying to get a hold of somones money who just signed a lucrative contract. It was just a couple years ago when the kid from IU who got drafted by the bills had a similar issue with his dad coming back into the picture looking for a hand out once he got that contract, when the facts came out the final story was different from the initial verdict. On the pacers side I think Larry has has a GREAT off season, but if we signed a player with a character issue or two to a guarnteed contract with no personal conduct clause, he might deserve this mess he is in. If it is truly as bad as it seems lance needs to go. If it isn’t, and I hope it isn’t, with the arrival of Darren Collison, I think that Lance might benifit from spending some time in the D league to prove that he can act right and learn a little too in the process.
Might be better to keep him around some of the older guys.
Sending him to the D-league where there are going to be mostly younger players might be ill-advised.

She's the mother of his child
Options for getting money from him
1) Throw yourself down some stairs potentially costing Stephenson his career
2) Simply continue being the mother of his child and collect massive child support checks for the entirety of Stephenson’s career
Which would you choose? I’m all for letting this thing run it’s course in court, but this theory makes no sense to me.
