The real Hornets / Pacers trade.

Now that we know that Chris Paul got a good meeting with the NO staff, we can think that they will try to improve the team as soon as possible to keep him happy (I don't think another bad season is good business for NO).

So my proposal is :

NO get : TJ Ford + Jeff Foster + Rush

Indy get : Collison + Stojakovic + 1st round pick

NO does the trade because they improve the team right away and still got expiring contract for next year. They really need a C after Okafor and Foster is the perfect guy for that. They got a good PG when CP will have his month off. and Rush can play the 2 and 3.

Indy get rid of TJ, wich is really good for us (I mean, us : the fans), for a good young PG, we keep THE PLAN alive with the big expiring of Stojakovic, we free some playing time at the 2, 4 and 5 for our young guys (Paul, Stevenson, Hansbrough and McBob) and we got another 1st round pick wich can be really important at the trade deadline.

So what are your thoughts on this one.

Mmm...ahhhh...hmmm...

That’s a lot of money for a back-up point guard, I don’t really see the point in making a Collison for Ford trade on their part. I do believe Ford is a better point guard than Collison but they already have Paul. I suppose I could see them trading for C, just not the injury plagued Foster at this time. Perhaps, at the deadline, if he’s played the majority of games to that point. Don’t think they really need Rush either because I don’t think his defense is at the level where people think, “I don’t care he floats through games.” I don’t think they’ll be all that competitive in the West anyways.

I don't understand how this trade improves the Hornets immediately as you say

And word is he still wants out…

If they completely rebuild they’re keeping Collison for sure. They might part with West though, if we took back one of their long deals (whichever one the team they trade CP3 to wouldn’t take back). Like maybe Muphy for Posey/West.

I hope you will.

First I’m sorry for my bad english, I’m french and not fluent so…
Maybe he still wants out and that’s a reason why I think NO will try to make the team better now.

The trade is an improvement for NO because
1_ with TJ they’ve got a proven PG in case CP is injured, and we know he will, I think right know TJ can be really good as a scorer who came from the bench at 1 and sometime 2 behind a legitimate starter and it’s better for NO than having Collison on the bench.
2_NO is really thin at 2 with only Thornton who is a good scorer but really small and not good on D, with rush they’ve got a guy who can defend better and shoot 3’s almost as well as Peja.
3_They badly need a solution behind Okafor and if I’m agree with you : right now to sign Foster is a risk but they know he is a hard worker who still can defend most of the big guys.

So I’m not saying that they will be contander with that trade, but better yes AND they will have the same flexibility next year.

I still don’t see the point there.

This trade will not improve them at all.
And we are not talking here about NO flexibility for the next year.
This is about Chris Paul, and he wants to be in a contender right now.
Little improvment (if there is some in this trade) won’t satisfy him.

Pacers Forever

As a Pacer fan I say absolutely go for it

but from N.O. point of view, I wouldn’t understand it at all,

No brainer for Pacers fans. Hell I’d do it without the first rounder.

by B-Huse on Jul 27, 2010 1:05 PM EDT reply actions

It would be a go for the Pacers but no chance NO does it.

The only way Collison gets moved is if he is paired up with Okafor, who I would not touch unless it landed me Paul.

I don't think it'd take taking Okafor

Collison’s not THAT good. If that’s they’re demands then Collison rightly goes nowhere. Posey maybe, I wouldn’t have a problem with that. And agreed, no chance NO even considers this proposal.

Unless they got a real big piece back

You’d have to take back Okafor. They told Paul, in yesterday’s meeting, that they feel he and DC can fit together, on the court at the same time.

Yea it’s a little crazy even without sending us their first rounder. They can get more and seeing that Chris Paul wants help (they need wing help) they will send Collison packing. I can see them tryin to get Iggy or Monta Ellis.
