Rabjohns: Eric Gordon Makes Initial Cut With Team USA

Eric Gordon's strong showing in the USA Basketball Showcase helped make his case for making the cut with Team USA.

Jeff Rabjohns reports today that Eric Gordon will be part of the 15-man roster that will continue preparing for the World Championships in New York in mid-August.

Rabjohns doesn't mention the fate of Danny Granger, but since most observers assumed EJ wouldn't make the cut, this news doesn't help Granger's slim chances of surviving the cut. I have yet to see any other reports on the roster cuts from USA Basketball.

Rabjohns has been following Gordon's progress from high school through college and on to the pros and thus is plugged into any info on Gordon either through EJ himself or his family.

If Granger can’t make that team even with the really big names sitting out, the Pacers need a new leader, even to just barely squeak into the playoffs…. What happen to the Granger we used to know a couple of seasons ago who lost his teeth against Paul Pierce and went toe-to-toe with LeBron??? Has JOB’s and Bird’s mismanagement finally sucked the life out of our one-time All Star?

You’re probably one of the people that was all over his nuts two years ago but as soon as he had a sub-par season compared to the previous year wanted him to be traded. Just like you’ll be saying that you love Granger once he has another breakout season. So i could care less about your opinion.

So Gordon and Danny are in, who’re the cuts? Tyreke Evans seems like a forgone conclusion with his injury, OJ Mayo, and Gerald Wallace?

It is good for his confidence… I just don’t think granger has the body to play EXTRA games that don’t matter. i care more about him being healthy than him getting a silver at the world championships
