Trade for Granger.

Hey there. Rockets fan here. I was wondering if a trade for Granger would be possible?

A potential trade could be something like

Jordan Hill Pf/C ( a lottery pick from 2 drafts ago who looks like a legit nba player, has all the physical tools as well as a few nice post moves)

And pick one of the next 3

Shane Battier SF( A veteran team leader, glue guy, incredible defender, expiring contract)

Jared Jeffries PF( again another great defender. )

Trevor Ariza SF( He is young and at the start of last season he had glimpses of looking like Tracy Mcgrady while dropping 30 a game. He has cooled down some since but is still a great player and top wing defender).

We also have the rights to switch picks with New York next year, and New Yorks 2012 Draft pick. One or both could potentially be included here.

Another possible trade could be

IND gets:

Hill, Battier, Jeffries, Aaron Brooks, Filler

Houston gets:

Granger, Tj Ford, Draft picks

What do you guys think? Is a trade possible or is Granger your superstar who you wouldnt give up for anyone in the game?

I know a deal like this is something that may not be possible until right before the trade deadline but I would like to get granger now so the team can learn to play with each other over the season.

You wanna do Aaron Brooks, Battier, and Ariza for Danny and Brandon Rush then we’ll talk. There’s no way in hell we send a 24 ppg scorer for Jordan Hill and Jared Jeffries. We can get a lot better offers then that. Sorry man

A deal is feasible with Hou

Mainly because I feel they are a dark horse to land CP3. If that is true, then Brooks becomes available. But it will take more than merely Brooks.

Brooks only

Wait until next season, then sign and trade Brooks for $11 mil a year, send over Hill and the Knicks pick with him for Granger and Rush, or something along those lines. No one else on your team is worth Granger, sad to say. I’m not sure how that helps Houston though. If I were them, I’d be finding a way to shave cap for next year, or making a push for Chris Paul.

The second trade was could be brooks ariza, hill and draft picks,

Ariza, jeffries, Battier are interchangeable. Granted i would much rather keep ariza, but he becomes superflous when we get granger.
Id rather keep brooks and hill too but you gotta give to get.

NO

Granger got a really really good contract right now (when you see Gay’s contract for example) and it would be really really stupid to trade him.
Not because he is the face of the franchise or whatever but because at this price I think you can not find a better player.
Granger is a keeper, I know he is our only player who got some value but I prefer No trade than a trade involving Granger.
At worst we keep everybody till the contracts expires, it means another lottery pick and we will have a really good and attractive for FA young group of guys next year.

True

The only way to win in this market is to make the right draft picks, sign the right extensions and make the right free agent signings. So far, Granger was a good extension, and it looks like at least Hibbert will wind up being a good draft pick, and there’s still hope for Hansbrough and Rush, while the sky’s the limit for this year’s class. The only way I’m trading Granger is if I’m getting a very good PG AND a young asset and/or decent draft pick. Just giving him up for filler and mediocre guys is treading water.

So like brooks and a draft pick?

With say Jared Jeffries/Shane Battier/Ariza + David Anderson to make salaries work?

I'm not sure I'd want Brooks this season

If I understand correctly, we wouldn’t have his Bird rights if we got him for just one year (no one would), so we’d just have the ability to match any offer. If that were the case, and he has a good season this year, what would keep him from leaving Indy after one year as soon as someone offered him a max OR what would keep us from overpaying him? I’d rather wait until next off-season, then have Houston sign-and-trade Brooks at a deal starting at $10 mil, add Hill and a draft pick to the package, then it’s more fair.

Ariza is a lesser player than Granger.

Brooks is a nice player but it’s not like his numbers are drastically better than what we already have on the team. It wouldn’t make sense to trade Granger for them… especially since Brooks could be taken away in free agency next year. I feel like there’s a reason that people aren’t trying to keep Hill more, that idea just keeps in my head and makes him unappealing to me. But, I would agree that Nukem’s trade is more fair.

Full Bird rights

Brooks qualifies for full Bird rights after three seasons in Houston. Bird rights transfer over in trades.

A player only loses his Bird status if he’s signed to an one year contract but that player has the right to refuse any trades.

How about this

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=24og5he

HOU gets: Danny Granger, Dahntay Jones

IND gets: Aaron Brooks, Carl Landry, Shane Battier

SAC gets: Trevor Ariza, Jeff Foster

Pacers get two young, proven players at needed positions (PG and PF), plus a veteran player coming off the books. We could start Battier at SG and George at SF.

Houston get DG for obvious reasons and Dahntay to take over that Shane Battier/get-in-Kobe’s grill role.

Sacramento gets Foster to bridge the gap with their young guys and Ariza, who is a definite upgrade for them at SF.

Makes sense all around, no?

It seems like we could sign all of those players next season if we just kept the cap space

Landry would come here b/c of the local ties, Brooks would play for us if we overpaid him (and Houston will be hard-pressed to match if they’re going to extend Yao) and Battier would probably play anywhere for anything more than the MLE (though we wouldn’t need him if we kept Granger…he’s about as much of a natural SG as George is).

Mmmm

I see your point. Would be nice to get these guys in the bag tho…

...

I wouldn’t want to give them Granger for them. Granger is still a better player than them.
