Hey clipper fan here with a trade idea that I though I might run a trade by you guys that has been getting a lot of discussion over at clipsnation. It involves the clippers trading our 8th pick, our future pick we got from the Timberwolves which is top 10 protected through 2011 and becomes unprotected in 2012, and last but not least Eric Gordon for Granger. Here is how the deal works
Clippers Trade: 8th pick, Timberwolve's protected pick, Eric Gordon (maybe some cash too)
Pacers Trade: Danny Granger
From the clippers perspective it helps because we have a gaping hole at SF in an otherwise pretty solid starting lineup of PG: Baron, PF: Griffin , C: Kaman. Of course our most ideal fix for this solution to this problem would be to use our cap space to sign Lebron, of course that is unrealistic (although I still hold out hope) and Granger would serve to fill the gap and would still leave us plenty have space to sign a good bench and get a replacement for Gordon (Salmons's name has been thrown around quite a bit).
Now the real question is why would the Pacers do it. Well the Pacers would stand to gain the 8th pick which could yield a good player although most likely not a franchise player. The Twolves pick would also be an interesting acquisition for the team that could pay off because it does not seem the Twolves are going anywhere very quickly, but at worst it is probably a lottery pick next year. The Pacers would also get Eric Gordon who would be coming back home. Gordon has shown a lot of promise and has become a fan favorite here in LA, his shot is pure and when Gordon drives to the hoop he is a strong finisher and is good at drawing contact (although he still doesn't get much respect from the refs but that will change). He is probably our teams best defender, although he does so quietly with few steals but his defensive impact is still very noticeable. His free throw % took a bit of dip last season but they may have had more to deal with a nagging injury he suffered in the beginning of the season but never quite recovered all the way from. Eric's real problem is he just is sometimes way too passive and many times last season he just got forgotten about. I think coming home might give him the confidence boost he needs.
So with that said what do you guys think of this trade.
