Any hopes or fears that Jan Vesely’s Dunking Ninja act would be coming to the Fieldhouse are no longer an issue.
According to Jonathan Givony at DraftExpress, Vesely will not make himself available for the NBA Draft this year (HT: Liberty Ballers). Givony had Vesely slated to go to the Pacers with the 10th pick which would’ve made for an interesting draft night at Conseco Fieldhouse. No, Vesely didn't mention the possibility of landing with the Pacers as a reason to stay out of the draft. If you're dead set on the Pacers adding a high-upside project from Europe you may be out of luck since it appears Donatas Motiejunas is also leaning toward skipping the draft this year.
With this news, the updated mock draft at DraftExpress slides a more familiar prospect in Ekpe Udoh into the Pacers slot. This is the first of what is likely to be several changes in the projection between now and the draft.
Active big men with varying levels of upside appear bunched around the Pacers’ pick. This is a future-need area for the Pacers, so would you prefer they take care of that need now or deal with it later and trade the pick as part of an offseason deal?
