NBA Playoffs Need A Jolt From Game 2's In First Round
With all of the Game 1's complete for the first round of the NBA Playoffs, we had to wait to the last game late last night for a lower-seed road win. The Portland Trail Blazers rose up (from the Rose City) to take down the Phoenix Suns.
The win was a surprise considering Brandon Roy was not available for the Blazers and the Suns cruised into the playoffs off a strong close to the season. It's also not a surprise since the Blazers have shown remarkable resilience all season and Nate McMillan always seems to have his team prepared to win regardless of the circumstances.
The Blazers rode some the veteran savvy of Andre Miller and Marcus Camby to make this 3-6 matchup a series from the start.
So, here's to the Game 2's offering at least a couple of more upsets and some tight games as the lower seeds make their adjustments and play with a sense of desperation as opposes playing with a twinge of resignation which seemed prevalent in several games this weekend.

March Madness is better...not College Basketball as a whole
I wouldn’t put a Big Ten conference game up against an NBA playoff series, that’s for sure. Watching better players play the game over a long series that features mental and physical toughness is where the best bball is. And of course March Madness is better…it’s better than any other sporting event on the planet. Comparing it to anything is inconsequential. It trumps all. People who make comments like that are morons.
Game 1 of the playoffs is usually a wash (except when Reggie was involved against the Knicks). After the first game all of the psychology and heart really comes into play and the games grow exponentially interesting throughout the rest of the series. Can’t wait for the next round of games starting tonight!

Tough question
I don’t know how I feel about any lower seeds winning. I’d have taken Milwaukee in a heartbeat with Bogut, but they need to help Jennings out more. Can’t waste his good nights.
Blazers have a lot of heart and guts and grit and all that stuff that wins championships, but I don’t think you can go against someone as (still and confusingly) dynamic as Steve Nash and rattle off four wins without someone like Brandon Roy to help counter that. But god bless ‘em, they found a way to win last night, so it’s a series now. Great home court could push them through now. I still imagine the Suns will get it taken care of.
Nuggets/Jazz series should be the most exciting in the first round. I wish I weren’t going to miss most of them due to work schedule. Agh! I’m also sad for any Thunder/Lakers game I miss. I want to see how this one unfolds. I expect the Lakers to win, but I want to see how they win, and I want to see how far along the Thunder come during it.
As for the question, I guess I’ll take the Blazers, since they’ve only got three and everyone else has four, but…to be honest…I’m rocking chalk in the first round.
