Game Thread #63: Indiana Pacers at Phoenix Suns

Indiana Pacers at Phoenix Suns, Mar 6, 2010 9:00 PM EST

March 6, 2010 - 9:0PM EST
US Airways Center
Radio: 1070 The Fan TV: Fox Sports Indiana
Probable starters:
T.J. Ford PG Steve Nash
Brandon Rush  SG Jason Richardson
Danny Granger  SF Grant Hill
Troy Murphy PF Amare Stoudemire
Roy Hibbert C Robin Lopez

The Indiana Pacers wrap up their final West Coast road game tonight when they face the Phoenix Suns.

This will be the  fourth game in five days for the Pacers. It only feels like five weeks, since all three losses included double-digit deficits throughout much of the second half. Steve Nash is hurting for the Suns but he'll need to play tonight since backup PG Goran Dragic is out with an ankle sprain.

Back in mid-January the Pacers put together one of their best halves of the season, working their way back from a huge deficit to beat the Suns at the Fieldhouse, 122-114. Danny Granger and Mike Dunleavy combined for 63 points. Considering the way Dunleavy has struggled of late, that doesn't seem possible, nor simply seven weeks ago. Like last night in Denver, 120 points is a good benchmark for the Pacers tonight if they want a chance to win this one.

Dissapointed Last Night...

Denver wasn’t a blow out like the first 2 games of this road trip were, but I’m sure the JOB will find a way to engineer a another blow out loss tonight. Keep up the crappy work Jimmy, because nobody but your BFF Larry wants to see you with this team again next year!

by FortWayneKarl on Mar 6, 2010 5:20 PM EST via mobile reply actions

Oh well...

On the bright side, it was still 4 losses for the road trip, although only 2-2 in the blow out column. :)

Chauncey Billups

Didn’t know he was starting for the Suns, lol.

by DaltonS49 on Mar 6, 2010 7:35 PM EST reply actions

Oops

that was last night’s nightmare.

by Tom Lewis on Mar 6, 2010 8:09 PM EST up reply actions

Gonna miss this one too

Might be for the best, this road trip is a killer. Here’s hoping the team shows up and at least puts together a good effort

by jantz101 on Mar 6, 2010 9:04 PM EST reply actions

Hate West coast trips

Especially cause I like to watch these teams (Portland, Nuggets, Suns) play.

But I guess that’s what the playoffs are for. After all, no Pacers means I’m widdeee open……..

This game is getting off on a bad start

Murph layups missed, Danny blocked, Roy layup missed. These guys are channeling my skills tonight.

by Nathan S. on Mar 6, 2010 9:14 PM EST reply actions

Already in the penalty

Pacers need to keep driving and getting to the line.

by Nathan S. on Mar 6, 2010 9:20 PM EST reply actions

21.4%

Thankfully, Phoenix is clanking just as badly.

by Nathan S. on Mar 6, 2010 9:23 PM EST up reply actions

How ironic is it

That Nash deserves the MVP more this season (and in 06-07) than he did in either of his MVP seasons? I need to pay more attention to Nash as an MVP candidate this year. 51/94/42 shooting percentages. Taking a Suns team that’s good, but not really THIS good…jealous, even if he is 46 going on 28.

by Nathan S. on Mar 6, 2010 9:26 PM EST reply actions

Pacers 4-20 from the field

Again, this team needs to quit channeling my skills.

by Nathan S. on Mar 6, 2010 9:30 PM EST reply actions

Phew

Two straight made FGs. Can’t keep up with this.

by Nathan S. on Mar 6, 2010 9:34 PM EST reply actions

Danny saves the end of quarter possession

Pacers down 29-28 after one. Not bad considering the team is shooting 25%.

by Nathan S. on Mar 6, 2010 9:41 PM EST reply actions

Strange 1Q

Pacers shoot 22% but score 28 points. Down 1.

by Tom Lewis on Mar 6, 2010 9:41 PM EST reply actions

Stat of the quarter

Second chance points: Indiana – 18, Phoenix – 3.

That helps. A lot.

by Nathan S. on Mar 6, 2010 9:44 PM EST reply actions

That's weird

Knicks don’t have a first rounder this year, so they might as well go all out. Jazz fans gotta be happy though. Their team is good AND they’re getting geared up for a lotto pick.

And I knew the Nets were going to win more than 9. No way they’d not get there. Just way too hard.

by Nathan S. on Mar 6, 2010 9:50 PM EST up reply actions

no kidding

Jazz must just giggle following the scores every night.

by Tom Lewis on Mar 6, 2010 9:57 PM EST up reply actions

Ball movement

Gets an B+ tonight. Only reason it’s than an A+ is because I’m sure they’re going to screw it up at some point and stand around picking their noses.

by Nathan S. on Mar 6, 2010 9:56 PM EST reply actions

Yup

Getting lots of work tonight. But he has three fouls, and now looks like a technical, so not sure how much more we’ll see of him tonight.

by Nathan S. on Mar 6, 2010 9:59 PM EST up reply actions

Perfect storm for PT

Solo dog-housed and Josh playing pretty well to hold onto the minutes.

by Tom Lewis on Mar 6, 2010 10:03 PM EST up reply actions

Double technical

Amundson and McBobs jawing up.

by Nathan S. on Mar 6, 2010 9:59 PM EST reply actions

WTH

Common is in a movie?

by Nathan S. on Mar 6, 2010 10:03 PM EST reply actions

Rodrigue Beaubois is leading the Mavericks in scoring tonight with 24

Shame we don’t have a rookie PG that can score 20. Just imagine if we did.

by Nathan S. on Mar 6, 2010 10:05 PM EST reply actions

Despite Nash being on Granger

Ford responds by turning it over as he takes the shot. Sweet.

by Nathan S. on Mar 6, 2010 10:09 PM EST reply actions

Duns

With four fouls. Pretty unusual.

by Nathan S. on Mar 6, 2010 10:16 PM EST reply actions

Whew

Thought the Suns were going to put on a run in the waning seconds of the half like we’ve seen a few times on this trip so far.

by Tom Lewis on Mar 6, 2010 10:19 PM EST reply actions

Ahhhh!!

WOW!! Reggie Miller flashbacks!!!!

Danny Granger with a three pointer, Watson steals the inbound pass, gets to the three point line, pulls up, and boooom baby!!

Pacers only down six at the half 63-57.

by Nathan S. on Mar 6, 2010 10:19 PM EST reply actions

Man

what is it about the Suns that brings out the fight in the Pacers.

by Tom Lewis on Mar 6, 2010 10:41 PM EST reply actions

Ghost of Diener

At first when they flashed to Dunleavy I thought it was Travis for a split-second.

by Tom Lewis on Mar 6, 2010 10:46 PM EST reply actions

Considering

Duns is a ghost now, it only makes sense he takes many forms.

by Nathan S. on Mar 6, 2010 10:48 PM EST up reply actions

What the hell?!

A.J. Price is in! THESE ARE MEANINGFUL MINUTES! What’s up!? Did Duns’s injury cause Obie to lose his head?

by Nathan S. on Mar 6, 2010 10:51 PM EST reply actions

Phoenix

Getting all the loose balls here in the third.

by Nathan S. on Mar 6, 2010 10:56 PM EST reply actions

What happened here!?

Nash hits a shot, and then boom, everyone’s going at it.

by Nathan S. on Mar 6, 2010 10:58 PM EST reply actions

Looks like

Channing Frye punches Watson in the back of the head, Danny stands up for his teammate, then Roy gets angry, and Nash plays mediator to Roy.

by Nathan S. on Mar 6, 2010 10:59 PM EST reply actions

Looks like Frye also had a swing at Danny

Which could be why Roy got involved.

This is nice, because I need something like this to wake me up a bit.

by Nathan S. on Mar 6, 2010 11:01 PM EST up reply actions

Frye got that thing going

Didn’t look any Pacers ended up throwing any blows despite going nuts on the court.

by Tom Lewis on Mar 6, 2010 11:03 PM EST reply actions

listening to the phx broadcast you’d think the suns were totally innocent bystanders and the entire pacers team should be thrown from the court

Techs

Frye (2), so he’s ejected. Richardson, Hibbert, Watson, Granger

Personal foul on Watson.

by Nathan S. on Mar 6, 2010 11:04 PM EST reply actions

Hahaha

Danny Granger shushing the Phoenix crowd after he hit the technical.

by Nathan S. on Mar 6, 2010 11:07 PM EST reply actions

Never heard a crowd cheer a miss so loudly

I think Phoenix fans might be learning to hate Danny.

by Nathan S. on Mar 6, 2010 11:11 PM EST reply actions

Yeah

They are definitely directing their ire towards him, haha.

by Nathan S. on Mar 6, 2010 11:14 PM EST reply actions

Could be good

Hopefully it energized DG in the right way.

by Tom Lewis on Mar 6, 2010 11:15 PM EST up reply actions

Nearly got one

But got called on the cheapo.

by Nathan S. on Mar 6, 2010 11:16 PM EST up reply actions

Offense is stagnant

They cannot be standing around right now!

by Nathan S. on Mar 6, 2010 11:25 PM EST reply actions

Yup

Bad time to get back into this clank mode.

Had a great opportunity with Danny there on the steal.

by Nathan S. on Mar 6, 2010 11:27 PM EST up reply actions

Haha

Aaron Rodgers telling someone to call him.

by Nathan S. on Mar 6, 2010 11:28 PM EST reply actions

With all the whistles in this one

can’t believe they didn’t get Lopez on the ’bow to Granger

by Tom Lewis on Mar 6, 2010 11:33 PM EST reply actions

C'mon!!

That is a basket interference!

by Nathan S. on Mar 6, 2010 11:35 PM EST reply actions

Ack, 3's are wild and off

That Granger one would’ve came with some theatrics, Damn!

by Tom Lewis on Mar 6, 2010 11:37 PM EST reply actions

still, win or lose this is our best game of the year

and if its a win somehow, it tops the la win last year

If Youre not First, Youre Last

by drsuessrunner07 on Mar 6, 2010 11:38 PM EST reply actions

Still have a chance

Need to hit some shots. Set up another Granger game winner at the buzzer.

Really get to see something there.

by Nathan S. on Mar 6, 2010 11:39 PM EST up reply actions

We don't ask for much

real nice to see them fed up and showing some fight.

by Tom Lewis on Mar 6, 2010 11:41 PM EST up reply actions

if nothing else we're relevant in 1 city now on the road

love the grit tonight! and it all happened with our core group on the floor! a win would of been nice but cant really cant complain

If Youre not First, Youre Last

by drsuessrunner07 on Mar 6, 2010 11:43 PM EST reply actions

We'd taken the last two against Phoenix

Being in that position, and then give the fans something to actually boo? This team needs to get good again really fast so this can happen nightly.

by Nathan S. on Mar 6, 2010 11:46 PM EST up reply actions

grant hill being interviewed for suns tv – he didn’t look too impressed when the altercation was brought up…
