Game Thread #61: Indiana Pacers at Portland Trail Blazers

Indiana Pacers at Portland Trail Blazers, Mar 3, 2010 10:00 PM EST

March 4, 2010 - 10:00PM EST
The Rose Garden

Probable starters:
Earl Watson PG Andre Miller
Brandon Rush SG Brandon Roy
Danny Granger SF Nicolas Batum
Troy Murphy PF LaMarcus Aldridge
Roy Hibbert C Marcus Camby

The Indiana Pacers have to pick themselves up off the canvas to take on the Portland Trail Blazers tonight.

After last night's second half TKO, the issues surrounding the Pacers have become more entertaining than the actual play of the Pacers. Consider the case of T.J. Ford after his play last night  brought strong criticism from Slick Leonard and Mark Boyle, two respected icons of the franchise. Now if it's me and my actions bring about such a pointed response from Slick, I'm finding my way to a mirror to have a good introspective look at what's going on. Not T.J., he went to Twitter instead and lobbed some not so cryptic tweets. That helps.

After the crazy game in L.A. last night, the Pacers have to find a way to come together or they'll leave Portland resembling Mt. St. Helens. Actually, that might no be all bad.

For a Portland perspective, check out Blazers Edge. The Blazers signed Travis Diener today so I assume he'll be chirping away at his old teammates from the other bench tonight.

TJ against the world

poor guy. Lets see what AJ can do against these Blazers huh?

by jantz101 on Mar 3, 2010 6:09 PM EST reply actions

AJ?

Is he actually going to play?!?!?!? More then 8 minutes that is.

God forbid JOB let’s the young guys get a little burn.

Why buy the cow, when you get the sex for free?

The only way TD plays tonight is if Miller, Bayless, Roy AND Rudy get injured.

But based on The Blazers’ luck this season, that isn;t out of the realm of possibility… knocking on wood

Good luck tonight, should be a good game.

I actually think the Pacers match up relatively well

but good game might be stretching it! It will certainly be a game!

by jantz101 on Mar 3, 2010 8:00 PM EST up reply actions

Good luck tonight Pacers fans

I’m always nervous about matching up against Granger. That guy is flat out incredible. I think one of the most under-rated players in the game. I don’t follow the Pacers too much, but my guess is only 20 wins probly means he doesn’t have enough supporting talent. Should be interesting to see how Nic Batum does pasting himself to Granger all night. Nic is very active and can shoot the 3, so Granger will have to play some D.

We've been playing with a small lineup recently

Granger is probably excited he doesn’t have to guard the opposing power forward for a night! Thanks for the wishes, you guys have a good young team, one that is fun to watch. I spent three months in PDX at the end of 07 beginning of 08 when you guys went on that 12-15 game winning streak. I was watching Pacers games at Claudia’s bar at 4 and the place would fill up at 7 for the Blazers game. You guys got a good fan base and a lot to be proud of. Good luck to you guys also

by jantz101 on Mar 3, 2010 9:05 PM EST up reply actions

thanks

I’m really saddened about the Tyler Hansbrough situation. I really wanted to see him succeed. Is he going to be back this year?

Denari mentions Portland is the top defensive team in the Western Conference and JOB says, well they’re the best scoring wise, but 17th in FG%. Winner is still determined by score, right?

by Tom Lewis on Mar 3, 2010 9:56 PM EST reply actions

JOB going small

Hoping to push the pace and run up the score on that mediocre FG% defense.

by Tom Lewis on Mar 3, 2010 9:57 PM EST reply actions

Shocker!!!

Let’s give Hibbert even less playing time than usual!

FIRE JOB!

by DaltonS49 on Mar 3, 2010 10:01 PM EST up reply actions

hows the saying go?

defensive wins what???? a team this bad doesnt need this much offensive freedom, they need structure and to be told their going to bust their ass and play defense first and foremost. We’re rebuilding and I want to keep the guys that can play tough D first and foremost. 90 percent of the guys who get drafted get drafted because they can score. I wanna see us play some D

TJ...always interesting

One handed pass into the 10th row after a nice effort to keep an offensive reb alive against Aldridge.

by Tom Lewis on Mar 3, 2010 10:17 PM EST reply actions

Well

I’ve seen enough of Ford already

by jantz101 on Mar 3, 2010 10:17 PM EST reply actions

too much freedom. be was best when he came off the bench in a controlled playing situation

danny already with more points than he had yesterday tho, so thats a good sign

If Youre not First, Youre Last

by drsuessrunner07 on Mar 3, 2010 10:19 PM EST up reply actions

Yeah

that and I really ant some extended playing time for AJ! Agree with Granger

by jantz101 on Mar 3, 2010 10:23 PM EST up reply actions

My goodness

PG decisions on the break are insane.

by Tom Lewis on Mar 3, 2010 10:20 PM EST reply actions

dahntay and roy coming in

in my opinion they both should of been startin….

If Youre not First, Youre Last

by drsuessrunner07 on Mar 3, 2010 10:27 PM EST reply actions

Roy yes

I like Rush starting based on his defense and shooting touch (as of late)

by jantz101 on Mar 3, 2010 10:28 PM EST up reply actions

ill agree with u its a coin toss between the two

since they both have multi contracts tho we need to see them both on the floor as much as possible and see if they sink or swim

If Youre not First, Youre Last

by drsuessrunner07 on Mar 3, 2010 10:30 PM EST up reply actions

bye bye ford

you dont deserve to play another possession all game

If Youre not First, Youre Last

by drsuessrunner07 on Mar 3, 2010 10:31 PM EST reply actions

If I had never seen Hibby play

and saw that hook shot, I would be like “How did that go in?” But I’ve seen him play…

by jantz101 on Mar 3, 2010 10:31 PM EST reply actions

Didn't even notice Head out there

guess he took care of whatever it was he needed to take care of in Chi-town huh?

by jantz101 on Mar 3, 2010 10:36 PM EST reply actions

from the blazer blog right now....

“I usually don’t like matching up to the other team But in this case I wouldn’t mind us going small because I think our smalls are better.”

uh oh…..i think they figured us out…..

If Youre not First, Youre Last

by drsuessrunner07 on Mar 3, 2010 10:37 PM EST reply actions

Shocker

awful last possession. It’s like they have no clue what to do out there if they take the time to think. Not good

by jantz101 on Mar 3, 2010 10:39 PM EST reply actions

TJ!!!!!!!

love Denari’s call. Pass was intended for Granger.

by Tom Lewis on Mar 3, 2010 10:49 PM EST reply actions

Its really nice,

to see Bayless playing so well!!! (sarcasm)

by HoosierHoops14 on Mar 3, 2010 10:52 PM EST reply actions

Wow

the one night Granger is totally “on” he has absolutely zero support

by jantz101 on Mar 3, 2010 11:08 PM EST reply actions

Ugh

thats all I have to say about that

by jantz101 on Mar 3, 2010 11:13 PM EST reply actions

I know I'm preaching to the choir

But when the offense gets stagnant and players aren’t moving like they should, shouldn’t you put in some young high-energy guys? I mean we know what we have in TJ. For God’s sake, try playing AJ and see if he can spark a little run. While we are at it, give McBobs another chance to try a coast-to-coast drive. This is becoming maddening!

by jantz101 on Mar 3, 2010 11:26 PM EST reply actions

Man

Aldridge’s game is looking really good

by jantz101 on Mar 3, 2010 11:31 PM EST reply actions

Couple 3's

Pacers got it back down to 10

by jantz101 on Mar 3, 2010 11:36 PM EST reply actions

Blazers

are just toying with the Pacers

by Slick4President on Mar 3, 2010 11:38 PM EST reply actions

8 pts in 6 mins

Can we PLEASE try a new lineup. This one is broken

by jantz101 on Mar 3, 2010 11:40 PM EST reply actions

I wonder..

if JOB will bench Granger the next game because he is the leading scorer but still got the Loss

by Slick4President on Mar 3, 2010 11:47 PM EST reply actions

If he does

it won’t be to make way for AJ…

by jantz101 on Mar 3, 2010 11:50 PM EST up reply actions

grangers career high is 42 against detroit in 2008

maybe something to shoot for this quarter, assuming we actually try to get him shots

If Youre not First, Youre Last

by drsuessrunner07 on Mar 3, 2010 11:55 PM EST reply actions

Why not

it’s really the only thing going for the team. This is a pretty pathetic showing

by jantz101 on Mar 3, 2010 11:56 PM EST up reply actions

So tell me again why the kids aren’t getting more run?

for them to play the coach has to tell them to check into the game

something in the process is keeping them from playing….not sure what it could be though….

don’t mean nothing but jacking up another three.
