Two Paths
The Pacers are at a crossroads right now with all of Indiana fans including us persuading them to go either way. One way, has us holding on to Granger and shopping our final-year contracts of Murphy, Dunleavy, etc. The other path has us moving our star forward. Let me break it down.
Path A: We keep Danny
Finding talent like number 33 doesn't come around often. A 20+ ppg scorer who can create his own shot and gets blocks, steal, rebounds, and the occasional assist. Now we have plenty of tempting contracts to unload to other teams in exchange for such players as Devin Harris or Andre Iguodala. Pairing either one of those players with an edition of a player such as Derrick Favors could be a formidable team.... But an eventual title contender?..... Maybe.....
Path B: Unload our star
Danny Granger could get a lot of attention from other franchises this offseason. Some (maybe most) teams will expect cents on the dollar in a trade for him but if we could hold out for that right move a deal could be had. One that comes to mind is New Orleans' Darren Collison, Peja Stojakovic, and this year's lottery pick. The Hornets have been rumored to be thinking about a package like this due to having two damn good point guards and practically no wing help. The idea of bringing Danny back to his hometown of New Orleans' to match him with Chris Paul, Marcus Thornton, David West, and Emeka Okafor has to sound too enticing to pass up. While the Pacers would have two lottery picks to add to Darren Collison (22 years old), Roy Hibbert (23) could be a great rebuilding plan. Maybe the aforementioned Favors and my draft sleeper Paul George or James Anderson. That's a good core.
Make your choice. One will probably make you in to a perrenial contender and one will probably make you lose your job.... which one is it?

Plan A
We don’t trade Danny for a mid-round lottery pick and a PG who has had 2 good months of basketball. Peja, and his $13.3 million contract (over two more years – though he can opt out of at the end of this season) is not something the Pacers want for their rebuilding plan.
IF, the Pacers ever consider giving Danny away, he should at least garner two (2) first round picks AND a young talent. This franchise should expect nothing less than that. Look at Minnesota or Memphis for examples as to what happens when you dump your franchise player for contracts/draft picks. Neither team is anywhere near contention two years after the fact (though Memphis is getting close).
Although, if the Pacers stick with Plan A, they are almost assured NEVER to get a top 5 lottery pick and must rebuild their team with role players in hopes of striking gold with a superstars. But, at least we still have a team (even this bad) that still has a shot at making the playoffs in the Eastern Conference every year.

Memphis made out very well in Dumping Gasol
The media people like to gloss over the fact, because LA is a huge market.
However Memphis ABSOLUTELY HAD TO get rid of Gasol. He had turned on the community and asked for a trade. Attendance was bottomed out and the team had went as far as it could being built around Pau (Think Jermaine O’Neal’s last 3 years in Indiana).
The Grizz got Three 1st round picks, a borderline All Star in Marc Gasol and a huge expiring contract in Kwame Brown, which enabled Memphis to get Zach Randolph for nothing.
If the Pacers could get a haul like that for Danny Granger, then they should probably do it.
" Tell me something Steve, How does a guy from Puerto Rico loose a ball in the Sun? "
To recap
Would you trade Danny Granger for
10 Million expiring deal
3 First round picks
and Marc Gasol?
" Tell me something Steve, How does a guy from Puerto Rico loose a ball in the Sun? "
Or more importantly
Who is drafting the players.
" Tell me something Steve, How does a guy from Puerto Rico loose a ball in the Sun? "
Well the trade I have above is just a core of what I had in mind and we could ask for more. Plus if we do Plan B we unload 50 MILLION dollars at the end of next season. Plan A though would bring fans back…. if it works…. I mean if we commit to all this money and we are just sitting the 7th spot of the playoffs for a few years then what’s the point?… It’s a toughy
Peja!?! Peja!?! Don't talk about Peja!
You also might mention the fact that Dannys durability is coming into question. Yeah, Bob Sanders is a great player, but only when he’s out on the field. Same thing with Danny. But one thing is for certain: you don’t trade for Peja. Seriously bri-guy, im about to hit you upside the head in a few days for that one.
A couple more things.
1. Keep “Winning Time” ready for me when I get back.
2. Get some paper bags for our fire JOB night. We need to go all out like we did in the past.
3. Call of fucking duty 4.2.
4. Prep your liver Birthday boy.
Who cares if we ever play Peja a second? lol 50 mil. comes off the books and if Darren Collison plays half as well as he has over the last month then that’s a hell of a grab.
1. It’s still on there
2. No problem
3. You won’t even be able to get a kill if you’re on Matt and my team.
4. It’s been prepped lol
P.S. When am I picking you up from the airport?
I have no idea. I’ve heard stories of waiting in Kuwait for two days. I’ve also heard horror stories of five days in Kuwait. The best I can do is call you when I get to Germany/Ireland, if that’s possible.
PS: should I bring the PS3?
How about this trade
Something along the lines of Al Jefferson and Jonny Flynn/Ramon Sessions for Granger? Minnesota has a bunch of firsts this year so maybe they’d throw in one of their later ones (late teens to early 20’s, I think).
