Game Thread #67: Charlotte Bobcats at Indiana Pacers

Charlotte Bobcats at Indiana Pacers, Mar 16, 2010 7:00 PM EDT

March 16, 2010 - 7:00PM EST
Conseco Fieldhouse
Radio: 1070AM WFNI   TV: Fox Sports Indiana
Probable starters:
Raymond Felton PG Earl Watson
Stephen Graham SG Brandon Rush
Stephen Jackson SF Danny Granger
Boris Diaw PF Troy Murphy
Theo Ratliff C Roy Hibbert

Break up the Bobcats.

Larry Brownhas Charlotte humming along at the right time of the year as the Bobcats arrive at the Fieldhouse tonight looking to win their seventh straight game. A couple of trade deadline tweaks have worked out well, with Theo Ratliff and one of my personal favorites, Stephen Graham, landing in the starting lineup.

The Indiana Pacerson the other hand have won just one of their past seven games and at this point are just hoping to get through warmups without an injury. Mike Dunleavyis expected to be back tonight after missing a game due to a warmup mishap. T.J. Ford remains out with a groin strain which should open up minutes again for A.J. Price at point guard off the bench. Ford played a big role in the Pacers win over Charlotte back in December, but that seems like a year or two ago at this point as both teams have gone their separate ways since that game.

For a Charlotte perspective, check out Rufus On Fire.

lets go pacers!

its amazing how larry brown can turn any team around (at least for a couple years) as soon as he goes somewhere. I believe the likiehood of getting outcoached tonite is 25 Million :1…..I got nothing against jax at this point but hope that brandon destroys him tonite….Hibby should have his way against what used to be theo ratliff….and what would really make my night would be seeing felton and price battling it out in crunch time during a close game. go pacers!

Larry Brown and Jax are made for each other

They both do well for a couple of years and then either A: Go crazy, or B: Get bored. They should pair up as a duo for the rest of their careers. “I’ll take the job, but you realize Jax is coming with me…”

Sun up so high

Hard to believe we’re only about a half hour from tip. Throwing my whole night off this time change, it seems.

Bobcats are playing well under Larry Brown at the right part of the year. Not unlike a certain team that took an eight game winning streak into the playoffs against the Orlando Magic. Ah, would be nice.

The daylight is strange

put me behind prepping for the opening tip.

by Tom Lewis on Mar 16, 2010 7:11 PM EDT up reply actions

I'm too lazy to open everyone's brackets

Who you guys got in the final 4? Here’s mine…

Kansas, Pitt, KU, Duke

I have Marquette in the elite 8, thats my big upset

by jantz101 on Mar 16, 2010 7:13 PM EDT reply actions

Haha

Forgot you are a Washington guy. It’s just them and Cal reppin’ the Pac-10 right? Marquette looked good at times this year…

by jantz101 on Mar 16, 2010 7:17 PM EDT up reply actions

ha ha

don’t blame you…dawgs are a crap shoot.

by Tom Lewis on Mar 16, 2010 7:19 PM EDT up reply actions

Kansas/Pitt/Kentucky/Villanova

But I’m not confident about any picks I make. It’s awful. I can’t pick Syracuse. I had a dream last night they lost to someone early. Don’t know who (love it to be Butler!), but I just remember the team mounting a comeback, and winning 66-64.

by goodlucksaturday on Mar 16, 2010 7:22 PM EDT up reply actions

I haven't pulled the trigger yet

Seeing Pitt in the Final Four would be something considering IU beat them this year.

by Tom Lewis on Mar 16, 2010 7:26 PM EDT up reply actions

They've improved a lot as the year went on

I’ll probably switch it, but I guess I could see it. Really wonder how good Syracuse is.

by goodlucksaturday on Mar 16, 2010 7:28 PM EDT up reply actions

Pitt has a nice draw

and definitely not the same team IU played.

by Tom Lewis on Mar 16, 2010 7:29 PM EDT up reply actions

Of course, IU wasn't the same team that beat Pitt either

Both teams went in completely different directions once conference started (mostly for Indiana losing Creek).

by goodlucksaturday on Mar 16, 2010 7:30 PM EDT up reply actions

Exactly

That half of the bracket is a huge question mark. Heck, the whole thing is. I just don’t feel Syracuse is going to get there. Maybe Butler will take advantage and roll, ha.

by goodlucksaturday on Mar 16, 2010 7:31 PM EDT up reply actions

Nice move by Graham

No idea how he got that off though…

by jantz101 on Mar 16, 2010 7:26 PM EDT reply actions

Still hate these rotations

Absolutely no consistency. “Oh, Solo played well? Back in big minutes even though he was in the doghouse 48 hours ago.”

by goodlucksaturday on Mar 16, 2010 7:33 PM EDT up reply actions

On my little 4" League Pass screen

D. Jones looks a lot like AJ. Got excited for a minute there…

Dunleavy!

Lets get it going here tonight Duns

by drsuessrunner07 on Mar 16, 2010 7:43 PM EDT reply actions

Haha, Brown

“Why the hell do I play kids?”

by goodlucksaturday on Mar 16, 2010 7:45 PM EDT reply actions

Gotta text tonight's question in

Scott Brooks is runaway Coach of the Year. No room for foolin’ around with people voting Larry Brown.

by goodlucksaturday on Mar 16, 2010 7:49 PM EDT reply actions

Missed the question

but Nate McMillan deserves some recognition for keeping the Blazers together through their injury-riddled season…

by jantz101 on Mar 16, 2010 7:51 PM EDT up reply actions

It was

Coach of the Year question. Brown, Skiles, Brooks. McMillan is a great choice though. Can’t believe how unfortunate the Blazers have been. It’s very sad, cause I like how that team is built.

by goodlucksaturday on Mar 16, 2010 7:53 PM EDT up reply actions

Great team

and they got better with Camby. I remember at one point this season they didn’t have a coach and couldn’t practice because they only had 8 healthy guys. McMillan tore his achilles trying to scrimmage with them. Now thats desperate…

by jantz101 on Mar 16, 2010 7:57 PM EDT up reply actions

Boom Baby!

Nice little run here in the 2nd!

What’s Michael Redd’s number again? Has he even played a game in two years?

by goodlucksaturday on Mar 16, 2010 7:55 PM EDT up reply actions

hope the defensive effort keeps up…

Love the active defense

Why is it whenever I call something out, they respond?

by goodlucksaturday on Mar 16, 2010 8:07 PM EDT reply actions

and no one has the time to call out everything the pacers need to improve on this year

i mean theres only 24 horus in the day…however this has been a pretty good half. too bad we’ve gave up a little mini run the last minute or so

If Youre not First, Youre Last

by drsuessrunner07 on Mar 16, 2010 8:10 PM EDT up reply actions

Good half

Really put together something. See how the second half goes.

by goodlucksaturday on Mar 16, 2010 8:13 PM EDT reply actions

Nice balanced attack tonight

Can they keep it going in the third quarter?

by Tom Lewis on Mar 16, 2010 8:21 PM EDT reply actions

Trying to think of the last time the Pacers outworked an opponent at both ends in a quarter. Anyone?

by Tom Lewis on Mar 16, 2010 8:26 PM EDT reply actions

Duns sighting

Ball in basket. Endangered species.

by goodlucksaturday on Mar 16, 2010 8:35 PM EDT reply actions

Oh yeah

Bobcats got Larry Hughes too. Wonder how he’ll help.

by goodlucksaturday on Mar 16, 2010 8:39 PM EDT reply actions

fought of a little run and we're still up 10

dont get my hopes up….dont get my hopes up….

Gah

This hustle is foreign to me.

by goodlucksaturday on Mar 16, 2010 8:44 PM EDT reply actions

I'm not looking at the score

It’s a real shame we aren’t up more. So I’m going to say we’re up 20 instead of 12.

by goodlucksaturday on Mar 16, 2010 8:52 PM EDT up reply actions

At times I miss Graham

But then I remember he was a 50/50 player at best. When he was good, he was a solid player, but god forbid you actually play him on an off night.

by goodlucksaturday on Mar 16, 2010 8:54 PM EDT reply actions

been following he charlotte blog too...

its almost amazing how much talk there is about our 7’ footers (solo and roy) and their impact on defense….take notes JOB…playing ur young centers will help you on defense

If Youre not First, Youre Last

Bobcats

This team won six straight? Such a hot and cold team. Interesting playoff matchup, but don’t know you can call them a threat to any of the top four, right?

by goodlucksaturday on Mar 16, 2010 9:12 PM EDT reply actions

Do we say lead down to ten?

Surely we don’t have to worry about that…

by goodlucksaturday on Mar 16, 2010 9:18 PM EDT reply actions

Phew

Lucking out. need a basket to finish this one out. Daggers aren’t working!

by goodlucksaturday on Mar 16, 2010 9:28 PM EDT reply actions

Stephen Grahamaham

Granger’s sinus infection appears to have flaired up.

by goodlucksaturday on Mar 16, 2010 9:29 PM EDT reply actions

Man

A serious pop. Can you get concussed from getting popped in the nose?

by goodlucksaturday on Mar 16, 2010 9:30 PM EDT reply actions

Oohhhhhhhh

A.J.! That shot stayed up forever! Stop ’em!

by goodlucksaturday on Mar 16, 2010 9:30 PM EDT reply actions

Phew

Murph saves it. Bobcats didn’t get a timeout that Brown wanted. Good work finishing it out. Just not enough time for Charlotte to come back.

by goodlucksaturday on Mar 16, 2010 9:31 PM EDT reply actions

went away for a bit...

what in the worlds going on

If Youre not First, Youre Last

by drsuessrunner07 on Mar 16, 2010 9:32 PM EDT reply actions

Bobcats starting running

Granger seriously jacked up by D.Jones. Murph steals it and A.J. ices it.

by goodlucksaturday on Mar 16, 2010 9:32 PM EDT up reply actions

Full implosion mode

fortunately CHA couldn’t take advantage. Jack missed a 3 and then they had a turnover.

by Tom Lewis on Mar 16, 2010 9:33 PM EDT up reply actions

Hopefully nothing too serious

I don’t know anything about symptoms, but he’s clearly not able to stay up. I’m going to assume this is serious enough that he’s out tomorrow against Cleveland until I hear he’s in.
