Game Thread #65: Indiana Pacers at Boston Celtics

Indiana Pacers at Boston Celtics, Mar 12, 2010 7:30 PM EST

March 12, 2010 - 7:30PM EST
TD Garden
Radio: 1070 The Fan TV: Fox Sports Indiana
Probable starters:
T.J. Ford PG Rajon Rondo
Brandon Rush  SG Ray Allen
Danny Granger  SF Paul Pierce
Troy Murphy PF Kevin Garnett
Roy Hibbert C Kendrick Perkins

The Indiana Pacers should be fresh and ready to go tonight when the take on the Boston Celtics at TD Garden.

Danny Granger returns after serving a one game suspension which gave him five full off-days heading into the game tonight. The Pacers catch a surly Celtics team that's been stumbling a bit lately. The C's have lost two straight and are 5-5 in their last ten games, so it's safe to say they won't be overlooking the Pacers tonight.

Good news for anyone who cares

My wife and I circled this game a while ago to try and get seats to and after weeks of watching ticket prices (and 2 days of checking compulsively) we got some great seats. We’re 4 rows up (I think) basically on the corner facing the Pacers bench. I should be looking straight at AJ Price (assuming JOB continues to keep him from developing).

I’ll do some sort of writeup tomorrow or tonight after the game

"If you don't [draft me], I promise you I'll come back and kick your ass for the next 15 years."

Sweet!

Looking forward to your report!

by Tom Lewis on Mar 12, 2010 5:53 PM EST up reply actions

Right on!

Enjoy the game, hopefully you don’t get much AJ face-time!

I know Evan Turner is great and all

but as a Michigan fan, that last shot was pretty devastating. It’s been hard last couple years to root for the Wolverines. And the Pacers. Maybe a win tonight will help?

by jantz101 on Mar 12, 2010 7:36 PM EST reply actions

I have a feeling

Boston will be looking for blood tonight. It will be interesting to see if the Pacers can stick around with the vets. This game could quickly turn into a blow-out, how much fight do the blue and gold have in them?

by jantz101 on Mar 12, 2010 7:41 PM EST reply actions

Nice move by Rush

Danny looks like he is sleepwalking out there

by jantz101 on Mar 12, 2010 7:49 PM EST reply actions

Nope

TJ didn’t look that inured though. Maybe just tweaked something?

by jantz101 on Mar 12, 2010 7:52 PM EST up reply actions

I think he has a nagging groin injury that might’ve been tweaked

by Tom Lewis on Mar 12, 2010 7:54 PM EST up reply actions

Not at all

I like that they are giving Rondo the outside shots. Back off of him and let him shoot that all night. He has been hitting them early, but where he is dangerous is driving to the basket.

by jantz101 on Mar 12, 2010 7:56 PM EST up reply actions

Ford questionable to return

sore left groin. That could have him out a month…

by Tom Lewis on Mar 12, 2010 8:05 PM EST reply actions

Hmm, Sheed just goaltended his own putback dunk. Not something you see everyday.

by Tom Lewis on Mar 12, 2010 8:13 PM EST reply actions

Uh oh

Danny limping off. You see what happened Cornrows? I missed it…

by jantz101 on Mar 12, 2010 8:22 PM EST reply actions

Price

with some early minutes. Lets go AJ!

by jantz101 on Mar 12, 2010 8:32 PM EST reply actions

He has a great first step

he just has to learn how to use his body to shield off those big guys in the paint. It will come with experience

by jantz101 on Mar 12, 2010 8:34 PM EST up reply actions

Price has looked real good and rusty all at the same time

Passing and handling real well. Can’t find a rhythm for his shot. Some teammates not ready for his passes.

by Tom Lewis on Mar 12, 2010 8:44 PM EST reply actions

Yup

plain and simple, he needs some playing time. Too bad the Pacers need him, it would be good to see him get some reps in the DL…

by jantz101 on Mar 12, 2010 8:46 PM EST up reply actions

Ugh

I agree, of course JOB feels AJ practicing with the Pacers is more valuable than playing in the D-League even though JOB himself complains about the lack of practice time during the season.

by Tom Lewis on Mar 12, 2010 8:49 PM EST up reply actions

Yikes

C’s shot 78% in the second quarter.

Lead at half 67-47 at half

by Tom Lewis on Mar 12, 2010 8:46 PM EST reply actions

Bad news: Pacers down 20
Good news: Celtics have to cool down in the second half (right?)

by jantz101 on Mar 12, 2010 8:47 PM EST reply actions

Yes

they can’t maintain that average for long.

by IndyDan on Mar 12, 2010 8:50 PM EST up reply actions

Goodness

Celts shooting 63%? That’s insane.

by Nathan S. on Mar 12, 2010 9:00 PM EST up reply actions

This team...

Down 20 to the Celtics? I didn’t think we were this bad.

Well, I did, I just love to subtly jab the Celts these days.

by Nathan S. on Mar 12, 2010 8:52 PM EST reply actions

heh heh

the C’s are actually looking C-like tonight. The bench as much if not more than their starters.

by Tom Lewis on Mar 12, 2010 8:54 PM EST up reply actions

Just thinking out loud

all this talk about landing a PG, AJ Price, given a fair chance might not be all that bad. He has moments of brilliance, don’t know why JOB doesn’t stick with him instead of TJ

by IndyDan on Mar 12, 2010 8:53 PM EST reply actions

Sorry

this is belongs in another thread. My bad.

by IndyDan on Mar 12, 2010 8:53 PM EST up reply actions

Slick

just called for AJ to play the whole second half. Seems too reasonable to me.

by Tom Lewis on Mar 12, 2010 8:57 PM EST up reply actions

Oh, T.J. is injured?

So talking about seeing A.J. is not out of the realm of possibility after all…

by Nathan S. on Mar 12, 2010 9:03 PM EST reply actions

Yep

tweaked a groin early in the game.

by Tom Lewis on Mar 12, 2010 9:03 PM EST up reply actions

Slick calls for A.J.

So of course, Watson plays the entire third quarter, ha.

by Nathan S. on Mar 12, 2010 9:18 PM EST reply actions

I'd like to think

We caught Boston on a night they decided to show up, but they’ve been so poor as of late I somehow doubt that’s the case.

Oh well. Could be worse. I’m thinking of scenarios where it could, but none really come to mind, so nevermind.

by Nathan S. on Mar 12, 2010 9:23 PM EST up reply actions

I feel

like this game has been more about the C’s hitting open shots than the Pacers playing bad defense. Kinda like the Laker game. The C’s are just a better team and executing well. Of course I’ve been in-and-out of this game…

by jantz101 on Mar 12, 2010 9:25 PM EST up reply actions

End 3Q: C's up 98-78

31-31 quarter

Granger seems like a mess tonight.

by Tom Lewis on Mar 12, 2010 9:28 PM EST reply actions

Whoops

Obie with a rotation issue. Wonder if he realizes yet he put A.J. in.

by Nathan S. on Mar 12, 2010 9:31 PM EST reply actions

At 8:59, Obie wanted the lead to 15

25 will have to do.

A.J. with the triple!

by Nathan S. on Mar 12, 2010 9:34 PM EST reply actions

We all knew this was coming

Celts were looking for a breakout game.

by IndyDan on Mar 12, 2010 9:49 PM EST reply actions
