EVAN!
[From the FanPosts, I love it when ThirtyOne gets excited, plus he offers a good chance to get some other thoughts on the top talent in the draft. - TL]
It's official I now want Evan Turner, even if we get the #1 pick. That end of the game shot he hit today was clutch. I think we've found the guy who can help turn this team around. Sorry John Wall, but I think you're number two these days. I appreciate your natural point guard skills but I don't think there's any way Evan Turner isn't a future NBA all-star.

can't go that far yet
but that shot was insane for the game. Keep hearing rumblings that ET wants to stay for his senior year even though it makes no sense whatsoever. That would kill me if the Pacers popped up in the top 2 slots and Turner went back to school.
worst possible outcome
"If you don't [draft me], I promise you I'll come back and kick your ass for the next 15 years."
That’s what I’m talking about here, a killer instinct. He’s someone that I think hates losing and wants to win at all costs. Plus with a built in name like “The Villain” how does he not become a big time player.
I really can’t believe Wall is considered a lock as #1, Turner can rebound, pass, and score. And if he can play the point, which I think he can, we probably have the next Jason Kidd.
I love Evan Turner’s game, but the Pacers need a legit point, and I don’t know how they could pass on Wall.
But getting a top 2 pick probably isn’t going to happen.
This a win-win
As long as Darko-loving Joe Dumars is not holding one of the top 2 picks, both teams will come away with a franchise-type player. Remind me of this as I become unreasonable about either Wall or Turner as we get closer to the Lottery/Draft
Cards, Colts, and Pacers - Baseball, football, and basketball or gambling, guns, and old cars?
Would I love to get Turner? Yes…. but more then Wall….. that’s tough. I don’t think you can go wrong with either but Wall has the ability to be a top 5 player in this league. What’s nice about Turner is though he can play 3 spots (PG,SG,SF)…. on a rebuilding team that’s a huge help in case some other player flourished then you can just move Evan to another spot. I like Turner at point though…. Impossible for other guards to shoot over, can see over opposing guards on offense, he’s every sense of a leader, and on offense he can just back down opposing PG’s.
great shot
but…that might not have been a good call by the refs. the clock didn’t start when it should have
Harper's on Miller, McKey, gets in to Miller for the win and...
Hail to the Orange.
Hail to the Blue.
Hail Alma Mater,
Ever so true.
We love no other,
So let our motto be
Victory, Illinois, Varsity.
can't vote
…this is why I’m quietly hoping for the 2nd pick. If we were to pick first I’d say we have to take Wall, which would thrill me. Personally however, I don’t care for “scoring” point guards. I want my 2 guard to be the greater offensive threat. Just a preference.
Look. There's no "wrong" choice. But there is a right one.
Turner is closest to Brandon Roy. A guy who is a big, versatile point-forward type. Both have a history of injury concerns. Turner is a little better from the all-around standpoint, but Roy is a better shooter.
Wall is more like a true PG version of Dwayne Wade. They’re explosive athletes, who when there team needs it can basically score at will. Wade is certainly a better scorer, but Wall has the tool of the great PGs – he can make his team a lot better even without scoring.
Personally, I’d take Wall for 3 reasons:
1. His athleticism is on a higher level than Turner’s and that matters so much in the NBA game.
2. Wall is almost two full years younger than Turner. Evan didn’t arrive at Ohio St. as a Top 2 pick. He used these 3 years to grow into that. Wall did arrive at Kentucky that way. What is he gonna be in 2 more years? Scary.
3. Even though he’s bounced back miraculously well, Turner did BREAK HIS BACK this year. Maybe that doesn’t matter now, but it might cut a year or two off the latter half of his career.
Great points
Yeah, the injury is a little concerning, but then again Granger fell to us because of injury concerns, and DeJaun Blair fell to the Spurs because of injury concerns, so I take that with a grain of salt. But a great point about Wall being a freshman(and thus younger, and more upside than Turner). Contrast that with Turner’s versatility. Also Wall is on a star-studded Kentucky team along with DeMarcus Cousins and Pattrick Patterson, so his stats might not be as impressive as it would be if he was the centerpiece, like Turner is at Ohio State.
Wall
Chad Ford tweeted it best tonight: “John Wall answered back to Evan Turner in a big way for Kentucky. He was spectacular. Turner best college player. Wall the best pro.” Either pick would be fantastic for the Pacers, but if we got the No. 1, we need to go with Wall. He’s going to filthy in the NBA.
Indy Cornrows
Honestly...
I’m becoming more excited about Turner than Wall, but Wall’s the #1 pick for a reason. He has what’s going to be a surefire transition into the league. I don’t think we risk passing on that should the impossible become possible. No way we take Turner over Wall at #1 though. If we have #1 and still want to end up with Turner, we take Wall and trade him for Turner and some premiums (picks? talent?).
What happened the last time there was a debate between an Ohio St. guy and a more explosive player for the #1 pick?
The real question?
Who will be the 23 or 24 year old college Senior that Larry Bird actually drafts?
" Tell me something Steve, How does a guy from Puerto Rico loose a ball in the Sun? "
Pat Patterson is the guy for Larry
Evan Turner is a future MVP
Danny wants John Wall ?? hasn’t he already been watching poor team management this year with our existing pgs
