Game Thread #50: Detroit Pistons at Indiana Pacers

Detroit Pistons at Indiana Pacers, Feb 5, 2010 7:00 PM EST

@

February 5, 2010 - 7:00PM EST
Conseco Fieldhouse
Radio: 1070AM WFNI   TV: Fox Sports Indiana
Probable starters:
Rodney Stuckey PG A.J. Price
Richard Hamilton SG Brandon Rush
Tayshaun Prince SF Danny Granger
Jonas Jerebko PF Troy Murphy
Ben Wallace C Roy Hibbert

After a couple of full days off at home, the Indiana Pacers face the Detroit Pistons tonight at Conseco Fieldhouse. The Pacers will be without Earl Watson tonight, but after having some practice time this week it sets up well for A.J. Price to make his first career start.

Jim O'Brien returns to the sideline for the Pacers and thus deteriming the starting lineup is pure speculation. Roy Hibbert creates a nice mismatch in the post against the Pistons so I'm assuming the home team starts with their more traditional lineup which fared well against Toronto on Tuesday.

The Pistons arrive in pretty good shape, trying to get past a strange recent stretch where they opened a series of six-straight home games by beating the Boston Celtics and then went on to lose the remaining five home dates before winning their last game on the road at New Jersey. The home losing streak started two weeks ago when the Pacers put together one of their better outings of the year, especially on the road. But with the way both teams have played this year, two weeks ago is ancient history. The level of play for both remains a day-to-day.

Speaking of day-to-day, here is a quick update on Tyler Hansbrough with comments from the rookie on his frustrating inner ear situation. Doesn't sound like he'll be ready to play real soon but he did say, "I feel like I am making some progress, so now we'll just wait and see."

Stuckey

A good match for Price in his first start.

Is the snow in Indy not that bad?

A pretty average crowd. I can’t even get out of my house, haha.

What a jinx.

Stuckey with the first four points.

nice hesitation there…

by dbcb on Feb 5, 2010 7:14 PM EST reply actions

thats one of those nba bullshit fouls…

by dbcb on Feb 5, 2010 7:15 PM EST reply actions

I agree

Really hate the whistle delay while the ref figures out if that was a foul or not.

You could set an alien down who'd never heard of basketball

And he could tell you these are two .350 teams. Ugly ball for both teams on both sides.

Roy struggling

Missing a lot of easy shots.

by Nathan S. on Feb 5, 2010 7:19 PM EST reply actions

Good play by Price

To find Brandon for the jam. Brandon = Jam?

by Nathan S. on Feb 5, 2010 7:27 PM EST reply actions

Detroit

Shooting terribly, but still rebounding well. Need to limit second chance opportunities.

by Nathan S. on Feb 5, 2010 7:29 PM EST reply actions

Pacers up

24-20 after one.

Ugly game so far.

T.J. Ford sighting

Haven’t been able to say that recently.

by Nathan S. on Feb 5, 2010 7:37 PM EST reply actions

Granger

Playing well tonight. Yes!

by Nathan S. on Feb 5, 2010 7:39 PM EST reply actions

Jerebko

Made one heck of a move.

by Nathan S. on Feb 5, 2010 7:39 PM EST reply actions

Oh come on

Stay on your feet, Dahntay.

by Nathan S. on Feb 5, 2010 7:42 PM EST reply actions

STEAL and dunk/layup

For Ford!! Good to have you back, Teej.

by Nathan S. on Feb 5, 2010 7:50 PM EST reply actions

Ahhh!!

T.J. Ford just hit a three pointer!! Hahaha!

by Nathan S. on Feb 5, 2010 7:52 PM EST reply actions

Granger

Is lost when shooting a three pointer, however. Jeez. Ugly.

by Nathan S. on Feb 5, 2010 7:53 PM EST reply actions

I'm all for

Granger not taking three pointers for a while. He’s clearly not in the right mindset to shooting them, even when wide open.

by Nathan S. on Feb 5, 2010 7:55 PM EST up reply actions

Pacers 4-9

From three land, 4-6 if you take away Granger’s 3 misses.

by Nathan S. on Feb 5, 2010 8:03 PM EST reply actions

Pacers up 52-37 at the half

On a 14-2 run. This might be getting fun.

by Nathan S. on Feb 5, 2010 8:05 PM EST reply actions

Price in to start the second half

I like the point guard battle here tonight. Wish it was a legitimate problem…

by Nathan S. on Feb 5, 2010 8:22 PM EST reply actions

Pacers six straight to start the half

Lead up to 21. I like 20 point leads. Quite a bit.

by Nathan S. on Feb 5, 2010 8:23 PM EST reply actions

Calm down, Teej

Don’t need you taking three pointers.

by Nathan S. on Feb 5, 2010 8:34 PM EST reply actions

Brandon

Dude, don’t go all Indiana Hoosiers, hit your free throws.

by Nathan S. on Feb 5, 2010 8:37 PM EST reply actions

Danny having a weird game

A lot of great mixed in with a lot of awful. Like a chocolate box with lots of cherry cordials. Gag.

by Nathan S. on Feb 5, 2010 8:43 PM EST reply actions

FINALLY!!

Drilled a three! Danny with 25

by Nathan S. on Feb 5, 2010 8:51 PM EST reply actions

Wow

What a play by T.J. Gets the ball stolen, runs back, jumps around saves it, team gets a score. Just wow. We’d be in great shape if we got this from Ford all the time!

by Nathan S. on Feb 5, 2010 8:57 PM EST reply actions

Solo and McBobs

I think we’ve conceded this one. Great to get everyone some minutes.

by Nathan S. on Feb 5, 2010 9:04 PM EST reply actions

detroit… what not to do when you have capspace

by dbcb on Feb 5, 2010 9:14 PM EST reply actions

Indiana cruises

107-83.

Tomorrow, Milwaukee. If they can get out of New York.

by Nathan S. on Feb 5, 2010 9:20 PM EST reply actions

Hey Now!

Just got home to see this great result! Rush looked like he had another good game, and it looked like a pretty balanced effort for the Pacers. Fantastic!
