Granger's value?

How many games has Danny won this year? Has he really put this team on his back? Or has he given up WITH US?

Star-divide

Effort and Danny Granger don't go together this year ….. he refuses to dive for lose balls … sulks when the team down......I’m tired of our "star" player with 2 minutes left in the game looking like a sad spectator that can't wait to leave ... and when he is actually playing he just can't wait to chuck a 3 (to save face and to keep scoring average up)….. then cries about losing if he has time to talk to the media, which he has no time for .... most "stars" actually have something to say after the game to the fan base that supports his "status"

I’m seeing the problem … no one can say anything to the “SUPERSTAR” not even the coach …… It got Tinslely benched several times (documented) … I bet it got TJ benched …. Danny needs to nut up …. or he is going down in my book as a well paid loser

What is his value? I think we would come out a better team with a blockbuster for this buster today -----

I bet $100 --- if Larry called Sac-town and offered Danny would we would get 2 1st rounders and Martin for him? That's what there going to give for T-MAC

I wanna see him with a coach that will challenge him before I give up on him. Or I wanna see an actual team around him because this team is god awful. Star players don’t dive for balls on awful teams in the NBA. Just reality.

Too much talent there. Too hard of a work ethic. But it will be wasted with a coach like JOB.

completely agree

It seems more like he has tuned out JOB (and he’s probably not the only one). Seeing him with a better coach and a better team would help. But then again, we might not get either of those. My dream scenario: getting Wall or Turner and firing JOB, a year of coming together, get some young talent for the expiring’s next year, put it all together in 11-12……

I wish...

That we could trade Granger for Martin and 2 first rounders but that’s not the case.

Sac has agreed to deal Martin, and 2 no bodys for Mcgrady, Landry, and some one else. Hardly Martin and 2 first rounders for McGrady.

I guess I really pissed becasue we could have won last night

And people are saying good effort I thought the last 5 minutes the effort displayed was really poor

I Heart Danny Granger . . . He is my Personal Hero

The guy is averaging:
22.4 pts
5.8 rebs
2.7 ast
36.6 min

Danny can play inside and out. He is a great long range shooter, and can take it to the hoop. There are not a lot of guys in this league that can score the way he can. He is our future. We need to work on getting some players around him so he can lead us to the next level. Man of Pace you are crazy. If you don’t like Danny Granger as a player, What Would YOU LIKE???? He was an All-Star last year, and if he had not been injured would have been an All Star this year. The kid is great, and right now he is really the only reason to watch this team. He is the closest thing to Kobe Bryant that the Pacers will ever see.

Kobe care ... Danny doesn't

Kobe wins …. Danny doesn’t.

I want someone who care’s about winning, and is willing to hold his teamates accountable even if it means fisticuffs. Ya know we can talk about JOB all day, but we know this is Danny’s team he holds more power than JOB and Larry …….. He is the best player th whole state knows it …… For instance if we Benched Danny like TJ …. there would be approx 3 people at the fieldhouse and both guys (JOB & LARRY) houses would be burnt down …. Danny needs to demand wins and a winning attitude unfortunately he CAN’T because he does not have one himself …..

T-mac has better numbers and the exact same attitude ….. 0 rings

Danny Can't Demand a Winning Attitude...

Because his team sucks. I’m not saying that Danny is the best leader in the world but come on. Jermaine was a great leader and we suffered through the same mediocracy when there were no players around him the last couple of years. Nobody has the same leadership skill Kobe possesses and that includes Lebron and DWade. I think it’s time we stop comparing Danny to Kobe and become more realistic with things. Its absurd to say Danny should be benched because he sulks at times. It is never good to sulk and gives off bad vibes in the locker room, but If anything this should show his hatred towards losing.

Just wow...

You realize the only reason Kobe has titles is A) because he was the #2 option to Shaq at his peak and B) the Grizzles gift wrapped him Pau Gasol. Was his “caring” winning them titles in the post Shaq years before Gasol? Nope. And he had MUCH better talent than Danny has around him right now: Caron Butler, Lamar Odom, Andrew Bynum…

by SethGrandpa on Feb 18, 2010 6:14 PM EST up reply actions

Kobe’s caring was getting him bounced in the first round and having everyone hate playing for him and see that he was a dick.

Its the grizzlies caring that dragged the lakers to title contention

by dbcb on Feb 19, 2010 3:11 PM EST up reply actions

Really?

I think this is a bit of an over-reaction. Granger is not nor will he ever be Kobe Bryant. He could stand to be a better leader but maybe that’s not who he is, I’m fine with this. I see him more in the Paul Pierce mold (not how he plays per se). Paul was on some crappy teams and put up numbers and always looked unhappy. People talked about trading him and starting over. Suddenly Boston uses their young talent (all still decent players I think) and next thing they have Garnett (a true leader), Allen, and a title.

What I’m saying is none of this season will matter if things turn around in a few years. Everyone will forget all about this and any sulking he does. Next thing you know Granger will be winning 3pt contests and calling himself the best shooter of all-time and all of you will be happy. If you think Danny plays no D and is a glorified gunner, watch Kevin Martin play. Draft picks are nice though. [end rant] Please, continue.

Danny is a great talent…. the comparisons between him and Paul Pierce are incredible. A talented small forward coached by Jim O’Brien who had no help at times. Pierce gets help with a new coach… he’s finals MVP…. there’s something to be learned there.

Funny

When I made the comparison I forgot about the JOB coaching part. Thanks for the reminder, makes it fit even better.

by SpaceCowboy1984 on Feb 18, 2010 2:32 PM EST up reply actions

Although,

if memory serves me correct Paul actually got to the playoffs with JOB. Can anyone see Danny getting in the playoffs with Jim?

by ThirtyOne on Feb 18, 2010 2:39 PM EST up reply actions

Very true

I’ll say in this teams defense I think they would be a playoff team in early 00’s. I’m just saying as much as the East seems to suck now I think it was exponentially worse then. This may be hyperbole on my part but I believe even the best teams back then (Nets, Celtics, 76ers) would be very mediocre and struggle today to make the playoffs.

by SpaceCowboy1984 on Feb 18, 2010 2:44 PM EST up reply actions

They actually made it to the eastern conference championships, but that’s when they had Antoine Walker when he was actually good.

by B-Huse on Feb 18, 2010 6:29 PM EST up reply actions

He's sure being coveted by all of you like he's Kobe

Sorry Paul Pierce was well on his way to being a carrer loser like you’re boy…. Until he got help from the NBA …. the NBA needs a astrong team in Boston ….. was the Garnett trade even? or even the Allen deal?

by Man of Pace on Feb 18, 2010 4:17 PM EST reply actions

would the nba okay any of these deals ?

AJ Price, Dunleavy, Rush - for Durant -——— this is simmilar to the Allen deal,

Hansboro, foster, diener for amare -- this is simmilar to the Garnett deal

Please tell me youre joking…… or high……

by B-Huse on Feb 18, 2010 6:30 PM EST up reply actions

He’s making a point by showing the absurdity of the trades, albeit a rather poorly made point.

by ben.renz on Feb 19, 2010 5:56 AM EST up reply actions

So...

Seattle, AKA OK City, gets the fifth pick, early second rounder, and two servicable expiring contracts on top of already having the number 2 pick (Durant). Don’t see the stealing there.

T-Wolves get Al Jefferson, 3 other players under 24 at the time, and 2 first round picks. Hardly see the stealing there either.

Neither of these teams were winning with Allen or Garnett so they traded them and got good young assets, much like the Pacers were hoping to do at the deadline. I think OK City is one of the best young teams out there while Boston keeps aging.

I think the NBA is really going to suffer if of all these trades continue. Really hurts the fans the most and it seems the trades are usually one-sided. I don’t even want to buy a basketball jersey anymore cause the player won’t be on the team for very long.

What an awesome fanpost...

I couldn’t agree more. Remember that game against the Celtics when Danny dived for a loose ball, and broke or chipped his tooth? That now seems like light years ago. Danny has regressed this season, no question. I get that losing constantly is depressing, but you’re the franchise player dammit. If you don’t wanna lose, don’t whinge and mope. Do something about it. Danny’s still one of the top 5 SF’s in the league, no question. But, I don’t think Danny can carry the team. Danny isn’t Batman. He’s Robin, and he needs a Batman. So pray for John Wall.

Top 5?

Yea I guess so…. for me it’d go….
1. Lebron (Duh)
2. Melo
3. Durant (He may beat out Melo soon)
4. Danny
5. Paul Pierce
