crazy, but i had to ask....
I ve heard some rumblings about the Bobcats possibly shopping Gerald Wallace and Stephen Jackson, especially if the seasons lost by the deadline. If the Bobcats would be happy with a salary cut and some draft pics, do you think it would be a good trade? Pacers trade Duns, Ford, Rush and j mac plus our next two first round picks. We get Jackson and Wallace. Starting Lineup Collison/Jackson/Granger/ Wallace/Hibbert, bench Price/jones/george/hans/solo and wed still have Foster and Stephenson, maybe pick up Rolle. What do you guys think? Would it be a good trade? I think that'd be a very good team on both sides of the ball.

umm..
no. his talent was never an issue. although watching him sit there on offense and chuck up 3s all game does not seem to appealing.
Also he complained and complained until he got traded when he was with GS also. the only measure of improvement I have seen from him is that he has been involved in fewer strip club shootouts as of late.
Other than Tinsley, I doubt there is an NBA player who is less liked than Jackson here in Indiana.
let's lay off the ronnie hate
he can’t change the past, but is genuinely sorry about it now. what more do people expect him to do?
Harper's on Miller, McKey, gets in to Miller for the win and...

I don't care what he does
Glad he’s seemed to have gotten the help he needs. Doesn’t mean I’m supposed to forget.
٩(͡๏̯͡๏)۶ The sky is falling!
You should be mad at Detroit, their fans and David Stern, they re the ones that screwed us...
afterwards we as fans, ron and the entire pacers organization handled it wrong. I most dislike Tinsley personally. I think Jack was more a casualty of circumstance, bad timing fro getting in trouble. And really Jack was just protecting himself from getting jumped, robbed and/or killed, fn arooundd at the tit club and some jealous dealers started hating. He’s human, allthese guys are just people like everyone else. They’re not role models, a lot of em are street m@@@@F$%###S that made it big cause they can hoop and they re just supposed to change everything about themselves over night, its crazy. Parents are role models not entertainers and athletes.

I don't care about the brawl
Well, I care, but I can rationalize it. I will forever hate him for demanding a trade after the suspension and the entire organization having his back.
٩(͡๏̯͡๏)۶ The sky is falling!
fair point....
I just think his mental health issues didnt allow him to deal with the backlash, which there was about the brawl from fans and the organization, how much can u really have someones back that ultimately cost u a ring. But understandable that u feel that way im personally still bitter about the whole thing.

I have no interest in Jackson...
I’ve never really liked him (personal feeling I suppose). Gerald Wallace would be interesting though.

Yeah I wouldn't mind Wallace
But no thanks on Jackson. I also don’t think the Pacers have an interesting enough package to offer.

I love Wallace, and he's exactly what we need
But no to Jackson. Also, we’d probably have to take back another one of their bad contracts to get it done.
Ford and Foster plus a future protected first rounder (like lotto protected, or top 20 protected that downgraded to lotto protected the next year) for Wallace and Carroll would be fair if the Bobcats were truly interested in dumping salary and not really staying competitive. Considering they’re only 1.5 game out of 8th right now, I think it would take a pretty bad record by the deadline for them to consider giving up on their best player.
But anyway, to speak to the concern that he plays a position the Pacers are stocked up on, well, I don’t think there’s any reason he can’t play PF like he did for them last year. He’s an excellent rebounder for his size, he can guard four positions and hustles. Collison/Rush (or Dunleavy)/Granger/Wallace and Hibbert would be a long, athletic starting 5 with plenty of firepower and great D. If all I had to give up was a couple expiring deals and a pick, I’d be all over that.

That lineup makes me almost as giddy as one with Josh Smith.
Come on losing streak for the Bobcats and desperate money dumping.

I totally agree w you....
Wallace in as the 4 would be an awesome team. I put Jack in there just figuring theyd wna add him in if they were gna salary dump so we might have to take him to get Wallace. If we ccould put something together to get just wallace id be all over it. But if we had to take Jack too Id also do it. JAck does jack up some threes but he can make them and hes a very good slasher when he wants to be. He also plays relatively good defense.
Best case scenario we get Wallace as a Salary dump for not too much would be awesome. Maybe Duns and Jmac Id like to keep Foster and open up time for HAns. Id be willig to do 2 first rounders protected because next years draft is thin and two years after that we should be good enough itd be a late rounder anyway. Bottom line I think a G wallace would be worth making a move for.

To trade or not to trade
I don’t want any part of Stephen Jackson ever again.
Gerald Wallace would be interesting, but he’d have to play the 4, and if I’m not mistaken, I believe his injury riddled years took place when he was playing PF on a regular basis.
I dont even like the terms of that deal on talent
Brandon seems like he can settle into a 6th or 7th man role and play lock down D while scoring 15 a game, with what he has shown this year he’s not a throw-in for me anymore. Maybe we get marginally better trading duns and rush for jackson and wallace but its debatable. and to give up two first rounders is just insane.

I have been the biggest Rush supporter on here as well as Hans for months now...
as im sure any one could tell u, I just thru him in cause they would surely want at least some talent in return. But to say theyd only make us marginally better i think is a total understatement.

Several things wrong with this trade idea.
I plugged this in to the ESPN Trade Machine minus the proposed draft pics. Its a fun tool.
With this trade John Hollinger’s analysis tools predict that it would add -1 wins to the Pacers’ record.
This would also add larger contracts that are guaranteed going forward into a looming post lockout world of the NBA. I think the game plan going forward for the Pacers is to hang on to a more flexible payroll to see out the new CBA turns out between the NBA and the NBAPA. Most experts are planning for a HARD salary cap and a smaller one. Expiring contracts are very desirable in anticipation of this.
Additionally, the NBA has a rule that you cannot trade consecutive 1st round picks. This is due to the Cleveland Cavaliers’ owner Ted Stepien in the early 1980s’ traded several first round picks year after year on questionable talent and really destroyed the franchise.
Due to the 1st round pick rule the Pacers could only offer the 2011 and 2013 first round picks if they wanted to include multiple 1st round picks.
I think the best move going forward for the Pacers is basically to do nothing this season unless we can get early 1st round picks and more salary cap flexibility going forward.
6-2, 185
Thing about that trade machine is its a machine,
Ive put many trades that would make us tremendously better with marginal results from the machine. Just about the only thinkg its good for is seeing if trades would work or not. Adding Wallace at the 4 and Jackson at the 2 would make us tremendously better giving us great defense and firepower. -1 games LMFAO.
Good point on consecutive picks good to know.

How about something simpler
How about this trade?
Far fewer players, more talent, avoiding Stephen Jackson, bulks up the front court, avoids giving up draft picks.
We’d be a pretty outstanding defensive force. Wallace, along with Granger, can play the 2, 3, or 4. Thomas is a perfect fit at the 4. How about this big, athletic lineup:
Collison, Granger, Wallace, Thomas, Hibbert
The Pacers and Bobcats have been back and fourth twice during the last two seasons. Surely they’ll get something done!

What about Diaw?
He is a great option alongside a true post player like Hibbert. Great passer, can rebound, and can shoot from just about anywhere on the court.
