IC Cold Links: Pacers Take Adavantage Of Favorable Early Season Schedule
After winning games on back-to-back nights this past weekend, practice time is plentiful for the Indiana Pacers to keep working through their early season issues while staying fresh and ready for game time.
The Pacers play the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday after three full days off, which will be the first of four games in ten days with no back-to-backs and another three off-day stretch in the middle. Those three off days come between home games so make that three, travel-free off days.
The players may not enjoy all of the practice time, but Jim O'Brien certainly does as he continues to pound his young team into shape as they prepare for each game. The opponents toughen up after the road game in Philly, with the Milwaukee Bucks, Denver Nuggets and Houston Rockets visiting the Fieldhouse, but the Pacers should be primed and ready to give each their best.

Al Horford was a pipe dream, but one I was still secretly holding out for. Ah, well, Tyler has been proving me wrong so far, and I’m glad he is. JMac has been serviceable as well.
The Pacers are just a fun team to watch right now.
Though it does make Josh Smith that much more available
Well, in theory. Though I’m not exactly sure how I’d feel about him. I want more of a 4 that can move to the 5 for spot minutes as opposed as one that can play the 3.
٩(͡๏̯͡๏)۶ The sky is falling!
Yeah it gets me excited too. Love Josh Smith’s game. There really isn’t another player like him in the NBA and he’s maturing. TJ Ford, Dahntay Jones, and a first round pick should do the trick. They could use a point guard and if he keeps his play up he could be a really hot commodity by the trade deadline with his expiring contract. Dahntay is a cheap wing that could fill a few holes and the first round pick is a cheap way to have talent. Maybe add Josh McRoberts to fill a 4 role for them or something. That’s an amazing st arting 5 of Darren (23), Paul George (20), Danny Granger (27), Josh Smith (24), Roy Hibbert (23). That’s a great, young, long team that could be amazing on both ends.
Horford
With Horford finally signed, now we can all focus on reality rather than what was probably a pipe dream from the beginning (I would have loved Horford).
As much fun as it has been to watch McBob and Hansbrough so far this season, I still don’t think either of them is really a starting PF on a contending team, so I think it should still be a position of interest at the trade deadline or during the offseason. Anyone think Marc Gasol could play PF next to Hibbert? Or, are they too similar? The Grizzlies just incredibly threw a bunch of money at Conley which may open the door for a team to nab Gasol at the right price.
Trade deadline and/or offseason should be fun. Not nearly as fun as the beginning of the season so far, though.
