Pacers Release Allred Leaving Roster At 16

The Indiana Pacers announced today that they released Lance Allred leaving the team with 16 players under contract on their roster.

The team must cut the roster to 15 by 6 PM on Monday and are undoubtedly would like to deal a player or two to trim the roster instead of releasing a player under contract.

I have noticed several teams trimming their roster below the 15-man limit to 14 or 13 which would make them candidates to take on an extra player. I don't have a complete list but do know that the following teams are down to at least 14 players: Memphis, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Atlanta, Utah (13), L.A. Lakers and Orlando.

How about this

D. jones or Brandon Rush to Utah for Ronnie Brewer’s trade exception.

The Jazz are absolutely devoid of Shooting gaurds from the departure of Both Korver and Brewer.

The Pacers do this for Obvious reasons. of course, I’d rather part ways with D. jones, but Jazz probably prefer Rush for his range.

Ronnie Brewer is in Chicago, homie. The new look Chicago Jazz featuring Boozer, Brewer, and Korver.

trade exception, not the actual player

From when they traded him to Memphis for a 1st rounder last year. And then Memphis didn’t even give him a qualifying offer. And you guys think Bird’s done some dumb moves.

Hold up a minute there MillerTime

I’d like to keep McRob. I would actually be in favor of picking up Adam Morrison (I know, it is seems crazy-stupid but I think the kid has more to give), trading S. Jones, B. Rush, and T.J. Ford for future picks and seeing where we end up.

Also curious to see what the heck is going on with Erazem Lorbek. Last I heard, we drafted him in 2005, but he’s under contract for another two years overseas before we can even give him a run over here. That was a wasted pick if I ever heard of one…

I knew Allred was toast from the opening moment of camp – too bad, he would’ve been a neat story. But, we’ll never know – he got absolutely no time on the court in the preseason.

Here’s to us winning tonight in Chi-town and finishing the preseason on a four-game win streak.

I'd like to see something.

I’d hate to see us cut a player and pay him anyways. Were still paying Tinsley and all, if we wanna pay people who aren’t playing I could really use the money. Lol

For whom the deadline approaches...

Pacers have until 6 p.m. Monday to fish or cut bait….i.e., make a two-for-one trade or trade a player under contract for a future draft pick or just plain cut the hopes and dreams of a marginal player by telling him “see-ya, We’ll put in a good word with the Mad-Ants and/or some team in China. Just don’t stand the China team up on the tarmac – ’cause that is tacky.”

My money is currently on S. Jones getting the shove out the door. But who knows? Other possible cuts are:

D. Jones – am I wrong or did he actually pour in some points at times last year?
T.J. Ford – cutting him would equate to a big expense with nothing of value in return.
Jeff Foster – hope not (I just like the guy despite his injury-proneness).
Lance Stephenson – would be a shame but O’Brien has already shoved the kid down a flight of stairs and banged his head on the bottom step for not being able to play defense (sorry).
B. Rush – folks he wasn’t floating last year, he was flying (high). Rush is so ready for this season, he’s smokin’ (again, sorry). I just hope it doesn’t dubie dribble (okay, that was the last one).

It will be interesting. Again, I think S. Jones is gone barring a stellar performance tonight.
