IC Cold Links: Tinsley grievance still on, Gordon joins Granger for USA Basketball camp
With the Jarret Jack offer sheet still pending along with a few more spots on the Pacers' roster, here are a few items of interest on a slow July news day:
- Dismissal of TInsley grievance denied
Marc Stein reports that the Pacers were denied a motion to dismiss the grievance filed by Jamaal Tinsley. bodi has the key content in the FanShots. - NBA.com: Central Division breakdown
Fran Blinebury breaks down the Central Division taking into account the state of each team at this point in the offseason. - Former IU, North Central star Eric Gordon invited to Olympic camp
Jeff Rabjohns reports on Eric Gordon's invitation to join Danny Granger at next week's USA Basketball minicamp in Vegas. - Notes from Vegas summer league
Sam Amico checks in from Vegas with some observations on the action. - Could Pacers be interested in Miller?
Tom Moore offers up the Pacers as a possible destination for Andre Miller although he's speculating on speculation by Mike Wells. Wells threw out Miller's name among a group of guards available should the Pacers want to replace Jack, not as a group the team is actively pursuing. I like Miller's game, but age, cost and length of contract are all issues that would make it tough for the Pacers to land the PG. - Stars sizzle this weekend in the desert heat
T.J. Ford made the entertainment section of the Las Vegas Sun for taking part in the 2009 Sports Dream Foundation charity poker tournament along with several other NBA players. No, the Pacers didn't covertly sign Ike Diogu. - Granger enjoying an ESPY party in L.A.
Danny Granger took in his first bash at the Playboy Mansion when Hef hosted an ESPY party this week. Sounds like he was ready for anything prior to entering the mansion. Unfortunately, no "post-game" report.

What is the rational behind these arbitration hearings?
The way I see it…
Tinsley signed the contract
Tinsley acted like an idiot
And since the pacers still own Tinsley, they can do whatever they want from him.
I guess I am looking at this too simplistically… what is Tinsley trying to accomplish? Does he want back on the team to sit on the end of the bench and get paid? Does he want a buy out (how can a buy out be forced?)
I don’t understand these type of preceedings at all.
I’m no lawyer so I have no insight to the legal angles being pursued, but in general I assume he’s seeking a buy out resolution so he can return to playing. Trade me, play me or pay me to go away. The Pacers came within 5 minutes of trading him last spring but now it doesn’t seem like an option. Playing him is not an option the Pacers are considering. So he wants the team to pay him so he can resume his career.
Tinsley Case Outcome?
Does anyone have any insight as to whether or not this MIGHT POSSIBLY resolve itself in a way that would end up giving the Pacers some cap relief???
a buy out for less than what the contract is worth would give some cap relief long term i do believe.
Wouldn’t it be great if this gave the Pacers some cap relief THIS YEAR!!?? Oh well, we should know something in 10-12 days… I hope the arbitor doesn’t waste much time. Regardless, this won’t help any with the immediate situation with Jarret Jack. :(

I was trying to think of....
An all-Indianapolis native(or high school star) NBA starting roster, but the only three positions I could think of were:
SG: Eric Gordon
PG: Mike Conley, Jr.
C: Greg Oden
Can someone help me with some Indy or Central Indiana-affiliated Forwards? And would we like to see any of these hometown guys in the Blue and Gold?
I also wish I had time and motivation to blog at Speed Blue Nation
Josh McBobs.

If he wants Indianapolis players
McRoberts may be out of the area from Carmel. Marion is a bit out as well for Zach Randolph, not that I’d want him on any team I was making anyway. Jared Jeffries is even further out and the SF would be Rodney Carney, but there’s not much else out there regarding F’s who played high school ball in the Indianapolis area.
I only lived in Indiana until I was 3 so I really don’t know much at all about it.
