Tyler Hansbrough Set to Start Allstate 400 at the Brickyard

Motorsport.com reports (HT: Wells tweet) that Indiana Pacers' rookie Tyler Hansbrough will serve as the grand marshall for next weekend's Allstate 400 at the Brickyard. Hansbrough's duties will include waving the green flag to start the race.

Pretty cool honor for the rook which should play well with the visiting NASCAR teams since most them are based in and around the Charlotte, North Carolina area and employ plenty of Tar Heel fans. In fact, during a local radio appearance with JMV last week, Dale Earnhardt, Jr. expressed his devotion to UNC hoops and his high hopes for Hansbrough last week.

This is a boon for the Pacers to have Hansbrough involved and representing the city in such a high-profile event. Hopefully the rook will loosen up and enjoy the festivities. He certainly has nothing to prove on the flag stand, although I'm sure half the people will criticize the way he waves the green flag.
