Murphy trade idea..

Im not one to htrow out outlandish trade scenarios, but when 3:30 comes it's usually "how can we get rid of Murphy" time.  Today I had some time to play with the trade Machine and look at some free agents.

Star-divide

Troy Murphy - 2 years 11 Million to the Clippers

for

Marcus Camby - 1 year 9 Million

Why the Clippers do it - They have a ton of big guys, and Kaman coming back healthy and signed to a long deal.  DeAndre Jordan coming into his own, and Cambys contact is up this year.  Murphy will bring that versatile guy to the team that they could use.  They have a solid point, solid big man, and a good young 2, Murph could flip around and actually help what looks to be a decent team on paper.

Why the Pacers do it. - Mainly to get out of Murphys contract.  Basically gaining one year off of it.  But it also gives us a solid big guy down low for Hibbert and Hansbrough to learn from.  Also, give Danny some help, some assurance that they are trying to give him talent, not hoping guys have career years.  Throw that in with maybe throwing in, and I know this is nuts, Marbury as a Free Agent Pickup (I can already see the negative comments, Im just throwing it out there).  That would be a fun, reallll competitive lineup.

I love it

But you talk about Camby being in his last year like it’s a bad thing and a reason they’d want to get rid of him…why wouldn’t they just keep him and let him expire after this year? They’ve already gotten rid of Randolph. Who better to teach Blake than Camby off the bench? I don’t buy that Murphy fits in over there at all.

No, I don't mean it as a bad thing...

it’s just why not receive something for him when his contract is up, instead of him just pickin up and walking away after the year? Then next year they will be in the same scenario with Murphy, where mayve they can trade him for a good option.

Camby...

Murphy should be a part of this franchise for years to come in my opinion… Camby is nice, but the past couple years he has been MORE than injury prone.

No way Clips so this

This would be like a Jarvaris Crittenton for Pau Gasol deal. Murphy does almost nothing to help us besides his occasional nice stretches. Overall he is like Zach Randolph, puts up a lot of stats, but not much else. Why would L.A. want to bring in a weaker inside/stronger outside guy like Troy Murphy especially now that he has 2 years left on the deal. I pray to god that it happens and it’s fun to dream, but the Clippers really can’t be this insane. Camby’s out after this year, they don’t want another 2 years of Zach Randolph jr. over one year of Marcus Camby. Hopefully, it happens.

GO PACERS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Doubt it.

I wanted this trade to happen, but if Camby will sit in the bench for most of the season, I guess there’s no point in that. He can be a vocal leader, but we need someone to tighten up the inside, and be a role model to our young guys…

I’m happy with what we have.

I actually think this trade is decent for the Clips

With Griffin and Kaman, they’ve got solid inside players. Having a big guy who can stretch the D would be nice. I would love to have Camby, I think he’d be a good mentor for Hibbert. Plus, Dunleavy is a bit of an idiot so who knows what kind of trade he would agree to?

Overall, I’m surprised how well this matches up and while it probably won’t happen, I would definitely be happy with it
