Rumor: Pacers actively trying to trade T.J. Ford
Well, if the rumor mill is to be believed, it has only taken the Pacers one year to realize T.J. ford is not the PG for them:
The Indiana Pacers are discussing trading point guard T.J. Ford with several teams, league sources say.
One possibility to trading him to Minnesota for one of the two rookie PGs they drafted. Other players would need to be added to match with Ford's salary for the 2009-2010 season.
Or, perhaps they want to trade Ford and hand the PG duties to Jarrett Jack. Long shot, and not very practical, I know. But, it could be a reason.

This also helps A.J. Price
I don’t know how high the team is on Price, but I don’t think that you can really go into camp with Diener as your #2 PG when he’s choptopping cars all summer.
The return would almost have to be a PG as well, given that Price’s contributions to the Pacers borderline nightmarish in regards to stepping in and being a rotation player immediately, and if we seriously expect a playoff spot this year (which I do), we cannot have Diener #2. We just can’t.
I’d like to get Flynn from Minny, but with Rubio being a self absorbed prick, I think this Flynn pick makes a whole lot more sense for the T’Wolves than I believed I could give it credit for, so I would venture to believe they’re not viable trade partners in getting a PG in return for Ford, which I think has to be something you have to get, be it a rookie or a veteran.
It is a little disappointing that Ford’s days in Indiana may already be over. I knew he was a short term solution, but I didn’t think he’d be this short. I certainly wouldn’t have minded seeing him back next year, but trading Ford to open up Jack as the guy at PG for next year seems like the real plan. Ford has a history in not starting, and I don’t know that Bird wants to risk anything with that, even though Ford took it well towards the end of last year.
As for Jack, I don’t much care for him as a long term starter, but locking him up as a Pacer would be a great move as a sixth or seventh man on the team for the long term, but I trust him to lead this team from the point for the 09-10 season, most certainly, especially if we get lucky enough to pry a starter quality PG from someone for Ford. Ford is a proven player and I hope we can get value for that if we want to get involved with rooks or one or two year PGs.

Who cares a bout AJ Price?
If they were really gonna trade Ford, wouldn’t Lawson have made a lot more sense to draft?
Of course, if they manage to trade Ford for Flynn, I’ll be impressed, even though I don’t much like Flynn, because I don’t see why any team would give up a #6 pick for Ford.

No way the Wolves trade one of them for Ford
If the Wolves trade anybody it sounds like its going to be Rubio and I don’t think the Pacers have the pieces to outbid people for him.

This is the time...
that we HAVE to go after Amare. Golden State pulled out of the deal I just read once they got Curry into their laps. stoudemire is that emotional type personality where now he knows they want him out, and they are not going to let him expire worthless this year unhappy. They need something in return, and I am not saying Tj is the answer, but come on Larry, swing some things around. I am not saying he will bring us a championship, and he has flaws, but come on. Granger and Stoudemire is a NASTY 1-2 punch that will be reallllyy competitive and is a sure thing for a 5 or 6 seed, if not better I think. Lets get the ball rolling here Larry.

amare scares the crap out of me. If we got him we would have to max him out for a player whose game depends on athleticism. How much longer is his freakish athleticism going to be around?

I'm on the fence for Amar'e
But my entire leaning against it is a maturity issue. If we can get Amar’e to play to the energy of our guys, we’d be in really good shape. Stoudemire can be an MVP type of player. We’d need him to be, or at least a small step below that.
Of course, the real issue is going to be having him for a long term. It won’t do us much good to trade for him, have him next year, have a respectable run, then lose him on a player option, because I don’t know that I’d want to have to lock him up on a long, max deal when we’re just getting over our breakup with Jermaine.

Yea..
I have thought of all that, but in reality it is so dam hard to find a guy that you are completely sold on to max out. There will be some sort of weakness in almost anyone (save for Duncan, Wade, Kobe, Lebron, a few others). Those players dont come around every day. I know one thing, if I was Toronto, or another team with a ton of 2010 money, Id be scared to shit to sign Bosh to a max deal. He (healthy) led his team to 30 wins this year, thats a guy u want for the next 5 6 years at a max deal. Id be scared to take Boozer, I’d be scared to take a ton of guys, eventually you have to bite the bullet, and maybe over pay a little for someone, (both in years and money). This is a guy who put 40+ on Duncan for an entire series, a guy who is an absolute terror downlow when he gets the ball in the right spot, someone who can run all day. Sign him for this year, and lets try it out. I know it’s not my money, and it is a big investment, but I think that is what we need.

the team that maxes out bosh in 2010 is a team that is going to be face palming itself in 2012

No Way
If we trade Ford I will be pissed. I think Murphy would be a great player to trade. He had a great statistical year last season, and NBA GMs are idiots (Blair at 37), so I think we could get a great player for him.
The Spurs have won the 2009-10 NBA championship. No question there. They are the best drafting team in the NBA by far.

Favorite player since his rookie year
I was estatic when we traded for him, and it would ruin it if we lost him. Unless we get Amare from it, I would be fine with it. Honestly the only untradables for me are Granger, Rush and Hibbert, but I would hate to see Ford go.
