Ok, Pacers fans. What is your reaction to the draft pick? Is this the right player for the Pacers system? Will he get immediate playing time and be an impact this season? Will the Pacers keep this pick? Let the discussion begin!

i like it a lot..

..but ill be the first to say that I am from st. louis, so i follow the pacers as much as i can (this being my main source of info). so, dont listen to me at all. no player can be bad that leads the ACC in as many categories as he does, and has a national title in his pocket.

hopefully this a trade

All Hansbrough can do is score, and the pacers don’t need that. He couldn’t defend or rebound at the college level, so how can he do it in the pros? Hopefully the rumors of the Bulls trading up for Tyler with the 16 and 26 are true.

I remember

Chicago being interested in him.

Perhaps we picked for them and have made the trade…

I may like this pick better after I sleep on it for a night…

I am so conflicted on this

I didn’t like it when announced, but this is a weak draft and he could be a solid contributor. He just won’t be a starter anytime soon (or ever), but at 13 in a dreadful draft we could have done worse, I guess.

We have McBob and Foster

now Hans? Three of the same guys. We need to trade Foster to a contender.

I agree...

what do they want? 3 birdmans on a team? They have to get rid of at least one of those 3.

I'm mixed as well,

I think if he is actually ours and not a trade pick, i think we are all going to fall for him, he just works so hard and plays so hard every minute, its really hard not to like him if he is on your team. I think he is truly a mini Jeff foster with better offensive capabilities.. and limited rebounding skills now.

Charlotte blew up a deal

If Henderson was there, the Pacers would’ve made the deal with Chicago. This close…

that sucks

if we get that trade, we could still pick hansborough and get another decent guy. Blair is still available. Sam Young. ugh.

hate it

we don’t need another foster. he can’t defend or rebound. and we could have gotten him in the 20’s. and probably the most important fact is that he won’t fill seats in conseco. we are gonna be another 30ish win team and end up with the 11-15 pick next year and get another b player. this is no way to build a team.

Absolutely terrible pick. The worst defensive team in the NBA didn’t do a thing to improve that. He’s going to be a poor man’s Jeff Foster on the next level.

I can’t believe this pick. No value to us at all. Shouldn’t even get playing time, Holiday was there and is a much better prospect. Tyler maxed out in college but he’s nothing in the pros.

This pick makes zero sense with Blair still on the board

5!!! american white guys on the pacers assuming dieners comes back (he will). 5!!!

I’m happy with the pick but yeah might have been able to trade down and still get him.

calm down guys

as we said in the open threat, everyone kept saying this was the worst draft in years, so what’s the best strategy? position ourselves for a top 5 pick next year, right? right???

Trade Already???? Maybe before not now!!!!!

I remember watching a kid play his heart out in the NCAA Finals and he lost it to Michigan St. He to was drafted with a lot of doubt but he managed to help Boston to some glory days. I sure its not to think this kid Tyler is a Bird or the hick from french lick but i do believe that the turn around in the Pacers this season is got a lot to do with the judgement to rid this team of bad chemistry!! This draft was just another step to develope that winning chemistry and it may not happen with this pick but i believe it can’t hurt and it just might help the attendance a little.

What turnaround?

We won 36 games last year. A “Turnaround” from the 36 we won in 2007-08. And 1 more than the 35 we won in 2006-2007.

The only turnaround has been the complete circle we’ve been going in for 5 years.

woah woah, calm down

we turned around from taking unproven, likely bust guys like Shawne Williams, Harrington and Bender and now we take low ceiling, proven in college guys like hibbert and Hansborough

I always thought Golden State

Had a close eye on Jennings, and if Minnesota had taken Curry at 6, that would’ve opened up Jennings at seven, but may have dropped Flynn to at least Milwaukee, if not past them. Jennings seems like Golden State’s type of player, and they clearly don’t have a rotation set, even with Monta Ellis.

I thought if Jennings made it past Golden State and Milwaukee, we’d have a shot at landing him (though I’m sure we would’ve taken Hansbrough regardless), but I was worried about Milwaukee, and as it turned out to be for a good reason.
