Pacers To Swap #13 To Bulls For Two 1st Rounders?

Possibly HUGE news.  Once again via ESPN's Chad Ford, who'll probably sue me for using all his material shortly:

Chicago has talked to the Nets, Bobcats and Pacers about swapping No. 16 and No. 26 to get into the lottery. It sounds like the Bulls are down to one potential trade partner in the lottery.

The Nets are leaning strongly toward keeping their pick at No. 11. And if the Bobcats made a promise to Williams at No. 12, they're out, too. That leaves the Pacers at No. 13.

The Pacers have been one of the hardest teams to peg in the draft. DeJuan Blair, Tyler Hansbrough, Eric Maynor, Ty Lawson and Jeff Teague all are on their board right now. If the Bulls want any of those guys -- or the guys the Suns (No. 14) and Pistons (No. 15) are looking at -- they'll have to make the deal.

I can't understand who the Bulls would be targeting that's worth moving up 3 spots and losing a 1st rounder, but hey, this would be AWESOME.

Love the intrigue!

I imagine this type of trade would be contingent on how the top of the draft plays out, unless LB is holding Tyler Hansbrough hostage and the Bulls want him real bad.

Right, I figure it would be a draft night deal...

To make sure someone like a Hill didn’t fall and that the Bulls’ guy didn’t get snatched up early.

I’m so down with getting two players because if we get one I don’t like this draft is balanced enough that they might get a better player with the 2nd pick.

More excitement on Draft Night

It would be great if another draft night deal happened where we drop and nab two good rookies. I could see the “Jerryd Bayless” scenario repeating itself on Thursday. Conseco should be a happening place two nights from now.

Awesome

Hopefully Blair would fall past the Bulls and then they could take Blair and a PG or a wing. Great trade.

Here is my thing

DeJuan Blair seems like the perfect almost missing piece to the puzzle for us. If he is there at 13 you have to draft him. Hansbrough is not Blair. He is not a defensive presence. He is not a shot blocker. He is a free-throw shooter that is soft for an NBA Big Man. If this deal means we settle for Hans later in the 1st I will be extremely disappointed. The guy isn’t a first round talent. Tell the Bulls the option is open until it gets to 13. If Blair is there you have to take him, if he is not the trade would be a perfect scenario. Get a guy like Terrence Williams from Louisville of he is there and a PG at the end of the round.

I agree

If Blair gets picked before 13, do the trade. Otherwise, take Blair

I'd far prefer 2 guys...

They could guard-forward like Maynor/Teague and Casspi/Gibson/Penergraph/Brockman/Heytvelt. Or they could go forward-guard, say, Johnson and Mills.

2 is better than 1 in the Pacers case

They Pacers would be much better off getting two picks than just drafting Blair. Plus, Blair may be available still at 16. I think they would take Hill of he fell, otherwise I think if this trade rumor holds true the trade will be made. Why not get a body and a PG instead of just taking a shot at Blair.

I think the Bulls are going for Henderson

I remember reading earlier today on cnnsi.com’s rumors section that they were looking to trade both their first rounders to get Gerald Henderson at the end of the lottery. At the time I thought, doubt it’ll be us but it would be sweet. Now it actually might happen? I would really be ecstatic.

Personally, I’m one of the biggest Blair to the Pacers fans but I think I might prefer having 2 picks over him. Since everyone being looked at from 10-22 are similar, no surefire stars/busts, etc. I feel like we’ll be better off with 2 guys. Any of the guys drafted in that area could be a bust, Blair included, so we might as well get two guys and have a higher chance of getting a non-bust.

Anyways, man I hope this happens.

that would make for a really great night

I mean, REALLY great. getting Blair and maybe a PG like Lawson? I would be out of my mind excited

F' Lawson...

MILLS!!!! MILLS!!!! MILLS!!!! MILLS!!!! MILLS!!!! MILLS!!!! MILLS!!!! MILLS!!!! MILLS!!!! MILLS!!!! MILLS!!!! MILLS!!!! MILLS!!!! MILLS!!!! MILLS!!!! MILLS!!!! MILLS!!!! MILLS!!!! MILLS!!!! MILLS!!!!

Yes...I mean it's perfect...

In all likelihood Lawson and all the “mainline” PGs will be gone then. So it’ll be in the range where picking Mills (or Calethis or Collison) would make sense. Only, if Pargo doesn’t drag Mills down by the shorts or St. Mary’s doesn’t get screwed out of an NCAA bid then he’d probably be a lottery pick. STEAL.

Another trade...things are getting nutty.

Wizards and Minny apparently have a deal. Seems like a strange one from the Wiz point of view. Wonder if they have another deal brewing.

by Tom Lewis on Jun 23, 2009 8:58 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Gotta be

Given the Wiz’s roster, it’s a move you have to be the first domino to iron out the roster.

I like the move for Minnesota though. They’re taking no holds barred this year. Four first rounders? That can’t be legal.

great trade for the wolves, although this isn’t really a the draft to have four 1st rounders… surely they will be trading some of those for at least next year first rounders??

Minny is looking to trade more

The article said that Minny wants to try and move up again but also keep two lottery picks. Therefor they would be trading a lottery pick (5 0r 6) and one of their later picks to move up a few spots. Very interesting. Article also says they are targeting Tyreke Evans. I figured someone would. I think in a few years he may be the best player from this draft class.

Ha ha...I read that wrong...

I thought the trade involved a swap of picks…in which case it may have been the worst deal ever…but yeah…I really like this for Minny.

Love the intrigue

Love having two picks in the draft. Like Psvirsky I am fully on the Blair-Pacers bandwagon, but I might love two picks even more. This might get some boos in here, but if Blair isn’t available in the later part of the first round, I would like Hansbrough and a wingman, maybe Williams. We don’t necessarily need a low post scorer, and Hansbrough will bang with opposing bigs. We just need an aggressive presence in the paint. Can’t wait for draft night!
