SB Nation Mock Draft: DeJuan Blair to Pacers
The SB Nation Mock Draft didn't see any tempting talents drop to 13, but DeJuan Blair was sitting there ready and waiting, so I took him for the Pacers. Here's my brief reasoning behind the pick.

Me too
People bag on his height, but everyone forgets that Elton Brand was the same height when he left Duke.
The program will read 6’9 255 next year anyway.

I'd be happy too
But it almost makes me more nervous as more and more Pacer fans are starting to agree on wanting Blair. If a maority of Pacer Nation gets its hopes up for a player, then it’s more likely we’ll all be disappointed, right?

Don't worry
I’ll cover the low expectations part. That isn’t to say I don’t believe Blair can translate, because if Indiana takes him, I sure hope he does, but I’m just not entirely on board with him.
Well he may eat you for saying that. Which is why I am so excited about him. He is so big. I can’t see him failing. Unless he eats himself out of the league. I don’t really see him being a star but if he isn’t averaging double-doubles within a few years I will be shocked.

I'd love for him to succeed
Whether Indiana takes him or not. I guess my thing with Blair is that I’d rather Indiana draft for talent over position. I want the best guy on the board, not the best player for the position we need. If it comes down to it that Blair is the best player left at 13, we take him and I’m pleased, but I don’t think that’s a scenario that will make itself apparent.
couldn't agree more
The Pacers need to draft the best available talent. I like Blair as a player and think he will be a good pro, he just doesn’t have the enormous upside the blue and gold need. I have a hard time with any scenario that would make Blair the best talent on the board. I think he is good, but not what the Pacers are really looking for.

Well there has to be a balance of upside and saftey...
I mean on upside alone, Austin Daye is the #1 player in the draft. That said, he’s got a 95% chance of being a COMPLETE bust. Hence I’d be very upset if the Pacers took him.
I think we should all just pray for an act of God and Jordan Hill somehow falling to us,

The other problem is that being a weaker draft and all, there aren’t a whole ton of options with serious upside and low likelihood of busting, especially at 13. I’m definitely on board for the Pacers needing another big time player, but it seems unlikely we’ll get that player at 13.
