Well, That Was Fun - Pacers Stick With 13th Pick
The Indiana Pacers draft lottery was over quickly when the P logo popped up second, signifying that the team will pick 13 in June's NBA draft.

I am a very casual fan, and all my Pacers news comes from this blog. So if I seem uninformed there is your reason. My question: are we really considering drafting a PG? It seems we have 2 pretty good ones right now. Both are young. Shouldn’t we be looking for an athletic 4 to go with Hibbert? Murphy is a very good player but I think the Pacers are going to enjoy getting his contract off the books. Is a PG really our most pertinent need?

Problem is draft position
There probably won’t be a legit 4 available with the 13th pick. There are several PGs, although I’m not sold on settling for a PG either. But it depends on whether or not the Pacers bring back Jarrett Jack. Jack is a restricted free agent, so if he goes elsewhere, there is your need for a PG.
I’d love it if they could trade down the board a bit.
How willing should they be to draft a project? I think with the improvement of our young guys this is a playoff team next year (albeit a low seed). I don’t think we need a guy to come in an be good right away, because we aren’t going to be a real contender next year anyways. There are a lot of ways to go with the draft. The Pacers have a whole lot of good but not great (with the exception of Granger of course)

Not sure what type of project would be available
If Jack doesn’t come back, along with Quisy leaving, they’ll need someone who can contribute next year.
I am presuming that we get Jack back. If we don’t that would be upsetting. He seems awesome and really fun to watch. The type of chemistry guy that is needed on a winner. The guy who keeps everybody’s fire burning. He has to be considered one of the players to build around for the next 5-10 years.

I don’t think he HAS to be a build around player.
Granger, Hibbert, and Rush are the only ones IMO who we should build around assuming Hibbert and Rush continue to develop.
Jack is a good player… but he isn’t a starter on a contending team IMO.
But he could probably be the 6th man. He just seems like a great locker room presence. Which is really a breath of fresh air.
