Season Finale??

I know, literally, after evey game, I change my mind on how I want this season to wind down.  After losses, I want to lose every game and get a great draft pick.  After wins, I am checking how all the teams between us and the 8th seed did to see what else must be done to make to the playoffs.  Just curious as to where everyone stands on where they want the season to go.  I bring to you, my first poll.

Poll
How do you prefer the season ends?
Pull a 2008 Miami Heat and openly tank the rest of the season, play the rookies, and pray for the lottery balls
30 votes
Play out the rest of the season, if we makethe playoffs, great...if not, 9th-13th pick is fine again
28 votes
Make the 8 (7?) seed, close our eyes and hope for the best in the playoffs (99 Knicks)

Pacers need to lose right now and concentrate on the 09 draft

They got too many overpriced guys like Rahso who’s contracts will be up in the next 1-2 years. So lets just face the facts, the Pacers aren’t going to go anywhere nor will they be any type of title contender for the next 2 years (since there aren’t really any good FA’s out there this season) unless the Pacers draft another Lebron James, Shaq, KG, or MJ in 09. So why shouldn’t the Pacers focus on losing and getting a good draft pick in 09?

Kudos to Polian in the 09 free agency!!!!!!!!!!!

Go Colts!!!!!!!!!!

Win, Win, Win!

Keep on winning. It’s been said this team isn’t an Atlanta Hawks type team that is going to squeak in and then be a threat next year, but I don’t think that’s entirely true. So much of this year is a learning experience for a lot of guys, and if they can build on these close games, put this team in a real must win situation, get Danny’s playoff feet as a leader of this team wet, and see if we can’t cause the Celtics or Cavs some early headaches. We know this team can beat the Celtics on a lot of nights. Why not see if the Pacers can up the ante on Atlanta and join the ranks of Denver, New York, and Golden State?

Another reason I want to keep winning is because I’m not even a fan of this year’s draft. I don’t see very much at all in the lottery that makes me stand up and say, “We could get him at __!” I don’t think this team is going to seriously miss out on a guy between picks 10-12 that they’re going to absolutely regret not getting because they make the playoffs. This won’t be like in 1993 when the Magic got the top pick.

And yeah, Knicks and the 99 season were all screwed up. I don’t even really think about it very much even though the Pacers were in the conference finals with part two of the great trilogy of Pacers teams we had. I remember the 1998 and 2000 teams so fondly, but the 1999 team is a real afterthought in my Pacers memory bank.
