Game Thread #19: Portland Trail Blazers at Indiana Pacers

Portland Trail Blazers at Indiana Pacers, Dec 9, 2009 7:00 PM EST

@
Indiana Pacers
13-96-12
December 9, 2009 - 7:00PM EST
Conseco Fieldhouse
Radio: 1070AM WFNI   TV: Fox Sports Indiana
Probable starters:
Steve Blake PG T.J. Ford
Brandon Roy SG Brandon Rush
Martell Webster SF Dahntay Jones
LaMarcus Aldridge PF Troy Murphy
Joel Przybilla C Roy Hibbert

The Indiana Pacers begin adjusting to life without Danny Granger tonight when they host the Portland Trail Blazers at Conseco Fieldhouse. The initial shock of losing Granger for a month or two has passed so now it's time to see which players can step up in 33's absence and bring the energy and effort to help lead the team. At this point, expecting wins, especially against the Blazers, might not be fair, but a guts-spilling effort from everyone in the home whites should be a given. I just hope the deep freeze outside doesn't translate to the Pacers' shooting efforts tonight.

Every time TJ...

..takes a fadeway jumper off one foot, take a drink.
..dribbles into a double team with no one to pass to, take a drink.
..allows dribble penetration, hell, you’ll be dead by then.

Yeah

I’ll pass on that game!

by jantz101 on Dec 9, 2009 6:48 PM EST up reply actions

Hmm

my league pass is having trouble loading…

by jantz101 on Dec 9, 2009 7:13 PM EST reply actions

So I hear from my parents.

Makes me seem a little silly for complaining about temps in the 40’s here

by jantz101 on Dec 9, 2009 7:20 PM EST up reply actions

And maybe

someone to guard Aldridge? I love the fantasy points, but maybe putting Solo on him could slow him down?

by jantz101 on Dec 9, 2009 7:21 PM EST reply actions

Yikes

Hansbro wide right with that one.

by Tom Lewis on Dec 9, 2009 7:39 PM EST reply actions

Can’t help but notice a lot of empty seats

by IndyDan on Dec 9, 2009 7:42 PM EST reply actions

definitely

zero degrees outside isn’t helping

by Tom Lewis on Dec 9, 2009 7:45 PM EST up reply actions

I think the freeze

is actually killing my league pass. The Warriors game is coming through nicely. Bummer!

by jantz101 on Dec 9, 2009 7:49 PM EST up reply actions

Ack

Miller just jumped Dahntay one dribble into a move. looking at a little four-point swing.

by Tom Lewis on Dec 9, 2009 7:52 PM EST reply actions

Pacers down 7

hanging around despite cold shooting. Juwan Howard has been offering some good comedy after picking up a few fouls. He’s desperately trying to lure the refs into evening things up.

by Tom Lewis on Dec 9, 2009 7:59 PM EST reply actions

No, Roy

your sholder is fine. Just keep playing. please…

by Tom Lewis on Dec 9, 2009 8:01 PM EST reply actions

Lead down to 5

after bayless and rush swap buckets.

by Tom Lewis on Dec 9, 2009 8:04 PM EST reply actions

Ooo

Murph missed a 3-ball that could’ve cut it to 2. Luther looked to have a steal, but was called for a foul. LMA makes 2 FTs to give Blazers 52-45 lead at half

by Tom Lewis on Dec 9, 2009 8:10 PM EST reply actions

Kevin Lee reports

trainer told JOB that Roy’s shoulder is OK. Whew.

by Tom Lewis on Dec 9, 2009 8:11 PM EST reply actions

Uh oh

let’s not get the Brandon-Brandon, Roy-Roy thing going again.

by Tom Lewis on Dec 9, 2009 8:25 PM EST up reply actions

Hibbert started the half with a bucket off a re-post

All involved made it look easy (which it is) and effective (again, which it is).

by Tom Lewis on Dec 9, 2009 8:28 PM EST reply actions

Well now

thats a nice change huh?

by jantz101 on Dec 9, 2009 8:29 PM EST up reply actions

Good play from Rush

made something happen. Murph missed the open shot, but still…

by Tom Lewis on Dec 9, 2009 8:32 PM EST reply actions

TJ put up some on-ball pressure there

Foster followed up by hunting down the missed shot.

by Tom Lewis on Dec 9, 2009 8:35 PM EST reply actions

Wow, late whistle there

Blake drew the offensive on TJ with a little excess floppage.

by Tom Lewis on Dec 9, 2009 8:36 PM EST reply actions

Sounds like a good game

Gonna be trying my feed from time to time. It’s not the same with the boxscore refreshing…

by jantz101 on Dec 9, 2009 8:38 PM EST reply actions

Things can always be worse

We could be fans of the Bulls. They ain’t playing so well tonight…

by jantz101 on Dec 9, 2009 8:39 PM EST reply actions

Nice finish to 3Q

Blazers up 77-75, but Price and Hansbrough score late to cut lead to two.

by Tom Lewis on Dec 9, 2009 8:52 PM EST reply actions

Roy is

truly a man amongst boys in this game, hopefully he doesnt take over this quarter

If Youre not First, Youre Last

by drsuessrunner07 on Dec 9, 2009 8:53 PM EST reply actions

AJ and Hansbrough keeping things working

I wish they could play a 5th quarter. Don’t care about the score, just want to watch them play.

by Tom Lewis on Dec 9, 2009 8:56 PM EST reply actions

quick shot

especially when we got a chance to take the lead

If Youre not First, Youre Last

by drsuessrunner07 on Dec 9, 2009 8:57 PM EST reply actions

I cant wait to see what kind of Hansbrough has

when he consistently hits his fts

If Youre not First, Youre Last

by drsuessrunner07 on Dec 9, 2009 8:59 PM EST reply actions

83-81

with the ball. This is getting fun.

by Tom Lewis on Dec 9, 2009 9:01 PM EST reply actions

Classic

Slick is referring to Hansbrough as Employee 50.

by Tom Lewis on Dec 9, 2009 9:03 PM EST reply actions

Wow, BRoy over three Pacers…swish.

by Tom Lewis on Dec 9, 2009 9:08 PM EST reply actions

Id love to see all the young guys in there for the final stretch

would make things a lot more exciting and give us a chance to watch them grow up a little bit at the same time

If Youre not First, Youre Last

by drsuessrunner07 on Dec 9, 2009 9:09 PM EST reply actions

Heh

Looks like Tyler’s staring a hole in JOB to get back in there.

by Tom Lewis on Dec 9, 2009 9:13 PM EST reply actions

we have 8 points the last 6 minutes

not how you finish games, how do you not go with what got you in the game to begin with?

If Youre not First, Youre Last

by drsuessrunner07 on Dec 9, 2009 9:21 PM EST reply actions

too bad this is going to be a double digit loss,

young guys played real hard

If Youre not First, Youre Last

by drsuessrunner07 on Dec 9, 2009 9:24 PM EST reply actions

Better effort tonight

personally, I still think JOBs job should be on the line come friday, its a must win for him

If Youre not First, Youre Last

by drsuessrunner07 on Dec 9, 2009 9:26 PM EST reply actions

Surely we won’t lose to the Nets.

by IndyDan on Dec 9, 2009 9:34 PM EST up reply actions

Careful

Nets are healthy now. Not great, but not as poor earlier in the season.

by Tom Lewis on Dec 9, 2009 9:35 PM EST up reply actions

This one started out bad but ended up winnable. Should have stayed with the hot-hands down the stretch. I’m thinking TBro has earned a starting job, at least while Granger is out.
