Who will be your new team?
Pacers' Average Attendance Lowest In NBA, Team Losing Money
This was The Pacer headline of 2008.
http://www.sportsbusinessdaily.com/article/119171
A Forbes study reported the Pacers lost $12.5M during the '05-06 season and $1.3M last year, with the "difference reflecting the lower player payroll." Pacers co-Owner Herb Simon said that "those figures are 'probably not' accurate but acknowledged more red ink is on the way"
I have watched every game this year and have never seen the so many empty seats. I am genuinly nervous for our State's team.
FYI ........ fans from other team's wonder why this blog is so negative .... because out team SUCKS and no one is watching or even cares enough to go to a game anymore ... but I can't blame them this team sucks
FYI ....... out problems won't be fixed next year either
With Mel gone and $ being burnt as nearly fast as the US Treasury burns $ I don't see this relationship lasting much longer. For the record Mel was much more stable ....
Provided Herb moves within the next year or 2 would you still root for this team? Would you adopt a new team? If so then who? Why?

Indy has proven that they will back a successful franchise.
Unfortunately this thing has been mismanaged for 5-6 years now. Why would people come out?

Loyalty?
How about they should come out every once in a while for a little loyalty hmm? I’m sick of Indy fans honestly…. they’re fairweathered and it makes me so mad. They did the same thing with the Colts until Peyton…

And will do the same thing to the Colts after Peyton
This city is fairweather and will support the Pacers to the end again once they put a quality product on the floor. That’s why a mere playoff berth would mean so much right now, it shows everyone who’s tuned out since Reggie left that this franchise is moving back to relevancy. But with the Colts working on an undefeated season again, it’s a bit difficult for Indy fans to want to soak in any extended amount of losing, and really, they have no reason to as long as one of the teams is competing for a championship annually.
Something will get worked out, I’m sure. I don’t know that I see the Pacers moving, but who knows. Doesn’t do a lot of good worrying about it right now. Team is 25th in attendance, not great, but not as bad as it was in 07-08 and not too far off from where it was last year.

Seriously?
The ownership of this team means well, I think, unlike my actual favorite team, the Bulls. But they’ve not made good decisions and the management they’ve put in place has made lots of bad decisions.
These bad decisions led to a variety of players who’ve effectively extended a big, embarrassing middle finger to the fan base.
Those guys are gone, but the team has to earn some support back and it hasn’t done anything to earn it. I say
1. Be realistic and blow this crap up. Get back to profitability. Collect some draft picks.
2. Hire a proven good basketball mind to draft talented players (who don’t like gunplay) with those picks.
In time, that’ll get us pointed in the right direction. I think it can start pretty quickly, actually. This team needs to change quickly, and at the moment it’s like turning around an aircraft carrier. Not quick. That’s gotta change.

The Safe Route
It seems like we’ve been trying to play the safe route for the last five years. Hire Jim O’Brien, a coach who previously hadn’t done anything amazing but hadn’t done anything terrible. Keep our older guys so we can win some games in the present, look either go with winning now or go young, or you end up drafting in the teens every year. Stop playing it safe and make a bold move for once. It either pays off or we get a good pick for the first time in…. gah I can’t even remember….

The Pacer Debacle
The team was pretty exciting last year. They kept the games pretty close and were a fun group to watch. They really did nothing in the offseason to improve the team at all. D. Jones is decent, but he’s not luring any new fans to the fieldhouse. Head and Watson? That was just a cruel joke. Psycho T is entertaining, but that was a truly disappointing pick when we were stacked with forwards and Ty Lawson was still on the board. I anticipated a big trade in the works all summer long but nothing came.I thought Bayless was a steal last year, until they traded him (to be fair in a pre-draft agreement), but I love to watch Roy play although he’s horribly inconsistent. It’s definitely time to shake things up. JOB and Bird have to go. We gave it more than a fair shot and it’s not working at all. The team is a trainwreck, and although I will always love the Pacers and will watch every game this season has been a total shitshow. It could be worse I guess. We could be Nets fans.

I’d trade situations with the Nets in a heartbeat.

I dont think...
you realize how big of an absolute joke the Nets are out here. It is utterly pathetic. If they were to just wake up tomorrow and be non-existent, I don’t think it would be more than one article in the paper after about 3 days.

Yeah…true. The new owner seems pretty solid as well, and has a huge bankroll.
