Game Thread #16: Indiana Pacers at Sacramento Kings

Indiana Pacers at Sacramento Kings, Dec 2, 2009 10:00 PM EST

Indiana Pacers
@

6-98-8
December 2, 2009 - 10:00PM EST
ARCO Arena
Radio: 1070AM WFNI   TV: Fox Sports Indiana
Probable starters:
T.J. Ford PG Tyreke Evans
Dahntay Jones SG Donte Green
Danny Granger SF Andres Nocioni
Troy Murphy PF Jason Thompson
Roy Hibbert C Spencer Hawes

The Indiana Pacers roll into Sacramento desperate for a win against the Kings. In the recent past, the Kings may have been just what the Pacers needed, but not any more. With plenty of young talent, the 8-8 Kings are playing solid basketball under first-year coach, Paul Westphal.

The Pacers are going to have to get down and dirty and take care of all of the little things to secure a win tonight. In other words, same ol' same ol'. If you need a little perspective amidst the rash of losses lately, Bruno is preaching patience.

Excited for my first Pacers game in some time

I seem to be out of town or am busy every time the Pacers have come to town. I will be rootin the boys on and spending $7 a beer at Arco tonight. My wallet isn’t that fat, so I’m hoping the team that played Monday doesn’t show up tonight! Lets go Pacers! Get this west coast stretch movin in the right direction!

What the H*ll???

Why is Rush still starting? Why not play Foster at PF instead of out of position? Why glue Hibbert to the bench? Is not one D. Jones worth ten (or more) B. Rush’s? Can Murphy even spell DEFENSE? Is Larry Bird man enough to admit he’s made a mistake with JOB? Why the F*CK is Grainger jacking up 3’s at a faster rate than anyone in the history of the game?? Does anyone in the Pacers organization even read IndyCornRows.com to see what real fans think??

Dahntay and Roy are starting tonight

Sounds like Rush isn’t in the regular nine-man rotation tonight either.

I hate seeing Jeff start over Roy…

by ben.renz on Dec 2, 2009 10:09 PM EST reply actions

Just saw that pretty much right after I posted that. ha. Good news!

by ben.renz on Dec 2, 2009 10:11 PM EST up reply actions

Like I asked earlier...

I thought JOB was going to keep the lineup from the winning streak even when the hurt guys were back in the lineup. What changed? I was out of town and didn’t keep track of the team for over a week.

Nobody fouls like the Pacers!

by ben.renz on Dec 2, 2009 10:12 PM EST reply actions

Yay

Roy held position against Thompson and didn’t draw an early foul.

by Tom Lewis on Dec 2, 2009 10:14 PM EST reply actions

Evans is the real deal.

by ben.renz on Dec 2, 2009 10:15 PM EST reply actions

Holy smokes

can’t get the ball to fall. At least the Pacers are getting it inside.

by Tom Lewis on Dec 2, 2009 10:15 PM EST reply actions

Granger

Got the eye of the tiger tonight

by spstevenson on Dec 2, 2009 10:20 PM EST reply actions

Headband

That was a bad idea from the start. Almost as bad an idea as wearing the gold jerseys for an entire Western road swing. Nothing like jinxing the trip before they even start it.

by spstevenson on Dec 2, 2009 10:22 PM EST up reply actions

Roy looks more aggressive since he's starting tonight

Nice to see. I know he’s prone to fouls, but I think he’s better off starting.

by Gwen on Dec 2, 2009 10:22 PM EST reply actions

Jeez. Evans is really turning this team around. I used to be a Jennings fanboy. Now I’m not sure!

by ben.renz on Dec 2, 2009 10:24 PM EST reply actions

Hansbrough had a nice steal and flush

Dun had to go with a stiff arm to get a layup off.

by Tom Lewis on Dec 2, 2009 10:31 PM EST reply actions

Looked like he knew he didn’t have the lift to go up strong.

by Tom Lewis on Dec 2, 2009 10:34 PM EST up reply actions

Man, plenty of energy for the Pacers so far

Roy, Tyler, Foster, Granger…everybody came ready to compete.

by Tom Lewis on Dec 2, 2009 10:36 PM EST reply actions

They would have to be ticked from the Golden State game

Has Rush played at all? I haven’t been able to follow all the way through.

by Gwen on Dec 2, 2009 10:37 PM EST up reply actions

No

Looks like he has effectively taken himself out of the playing rotation. Could be a long season for Rush.

by spstevenson on Dec 2, 2009 10:39 PM EST up reply actions

Yep

unless Dunleavy goes past 20 and they need him, Rush will be watching.

by Tom Lewis on Dec 2, 2009 10:40 PM EST up reply actions

Jones

Sweet mid-range jumper. Love it when that shot is falling for him.

by spstevenson on Dec 2, 2009 10:38 PM EST reply actions

Jeff Foster with the tip

I’m not sure I’ve ever seen him dribble, but he definitely knows how to tip.

by Gwen on Dec 2, 2009 10:39 PM EST reply actions

I know they're playing pretty well

but this playing rotation seems much more settled than in past games. I could see guys getting used to these roles.

by Tom Lewis on Dec 2, 2009 10:44 PM EST reply actions

I hope so.

I’d like to see a more regular rotation.

by Gwen on Dec 2, 2009 10:49 PM EST up reply actions

AHHHHHHHHHHH

Hansbrough chased by Brockman on the break. Of course both ended up on the floor under the hoop.

by Tom Lewis on Dec 2, 2009 10:47 PM EST reply actions

I love watching him play, but he’s hurting us so I like this.

by ben.renz on Dec 2, 2009 10:56 PM EST up reply actions

Pacers down 2

starters give up lead built by second unit

by Tom Lewis on Dec 2, 2009 11:04 PM EST reply actions

That’s not going to get it done. Murph has seemed gun shy ever since coming back. As for T.J., it’s just another one of those games.

by spstevenson on Dec 2, 2009 11:18 PM EST up reply actions

Pacers down 7

waiting for a second unit energy boost.

by Tom Lewis on Dec 2, 2009 11:32 PM EST reply actions

Love Special K

With Jones holding the ball and then making the bucket. “See, that ball’s been parked too long. But we’ll take it.”

by Tom Lewis on Dec 2, 2009 11:47 PM EST reply actions

I chuckled at that.

by ben.renz on Dec 2, 2009 11:49 PM EST up reply actions

And just like that, Kings back up 7.

by ben.renz on Dec 2, 2009 11:50 PM EST reply actions

The second unit all have + in playing time

and the 1st unit has – in playing time. That’s interesting.

by Gwen on Dec 2, 2009 11:52 PM EST reply actions

14 boards for Foster. Wowza!

by ben.renz on Dec 2, 2009 11:53 PM EST reply actions

Pacers down 8

Had it to 5 with the ball, just can’t get over the hump. Hawes hittin threes while Danny missing in the post/Murph and Rush front rimming threes.

by Tom Lewis on Dec 3, 2009 12:11 AM EST reply actions

21 offensive boards. 22 defensive boards.
And we’re still losing this bad?

by ben.renz on Dec 3, 2009 12:11 AM EST reply actions

Pacers lose 110-105

Couldn’t get it done down the stretch.
