Anthony Randolph available

It was confirmed on ESPN that the Warriors are interested in trading Anthony Randolph:

http://espn.go.com/nba/dailydime/_/page/dime-091119-20/weekend-dime-picking-decade-best

I have only seen him play 4 or 5 times and he never seemed to dominate by any means, but that dude has some serious skills, he looks like one of the best ballhandlers over 6'10" in the league.  Its always perplexed me why he wasn't getting serious burn to develop.  There must be something with his personality or something (he does always have that annoying whiny face) but he certainly has enticing potential.

It seems to me the Pacers sorely need an athletic big that can score around the hoop, and we have a history of trading with the Warriors.

Think we could offer anyone?  It would take a core player of ours like Foster, TJ, Earl, Dahntay.  I would think Danny, Dunleavy, and Hansbrough are the only untouchables-

Randolph has sure looked good against the Pacers. As usual, don’t know that the Pacers have the right pieces at the right price to make a deal work.

maggette

they want to get rid of maggette too, maybe a three team trade or something. it’s totally unlikely though, argh! the warriors handling of randolph is about the dumbest thing i’ve seen from an NBA franchise in a long time. why are they actively trading him? every other team would salivate over a guy like that. either the warriors know something we don’t or they are out of their minds-

I was gonna bring this up. The only way to make it is if we took Maggette.

We’d have to send Dunleavy or Murphy + Hansbrough and Rush. It still might not be enough…but I’d do that trade in a heartbeat. As I’ve said before, it’s super hard for the Pacers to get truly elite talent. Randolph is an elite talent who’s been screwed by Don Nelson hating him for no good reason.

by SethGrandpa on Dec 19, 2009 4:02 AM EST reply actions

I woudl trade anyone on the team except granger and maybe hibbert for him

Randolph is crazy talented… Don Nelson is just a horrible, terrible, worthless coach

My guess is they won't send Dunleavy or Murphy back

That would make people very unhappy out there.

Acquiring Randolph would be the best thing to happen to the Pacers since Danny was drafted.

GS fan here

Slowka’s right. No way GS brings either of them back in a deal for one of the youngest potential stars in the league – remember, they felt they’d “unloaded” those two to Indy in the Jax-Harrington deal … the sniffing around about AR isn’t going to die down, but it’s not like there is a panic to move him – even when 3/4s of GS bigs were out injured. Several of you have noted that Nelson’s not a worthy coach as evidenced by his handling of AR – recall that it wasn’t until Nelson took a hard line with him last year that AR started to blossom, plus the kid is still very young, he’s got a lot of maturing to do both on and off the court. Nelson’s been out with pneumonia and Keith Smart didn’t suddenly start playing AR a ton either. Something else is going on there – uncoachable is too strong a word for such a young player, but that’s where he’s careening toward …

Brandon Rush and Hibbert for Randolph and Marco Bellini?

" Tell me something Steve, How does a guy from Puerto Rico loose a ball in the Sun? "

Nuggets fan here

I think there’s a way to get you guys randolph, not sure if you’d want to do it so i thoguht I would just throw it at you guys

Ind sends first rounder to GS, Roy Hibbert to Denver
GS sends Anthony Randolph and Anthony Morrow to IND
Den sends Renaldo Balkman, Johan Petro and the clippers second rounder they have to GS

what do you guys think?

by Zachm219 on Dec 20, 2009 6:23 AM EST reply actions

NO Way!

Big Roy will be one heck of a player in a year or 2 and there’s no way Pacers will let him go.

by johnstyx on Dec 20, 2009 8:40 AM EST up reply actions

pacers aren’t sending their first rounder anywhere haha

by dbcb on Dec 20, 2009 12:15 PM EST up reply actions

Well

you’re not getting randolph with anybody on your team other then hibbert or that pick (with the exception of granger of course, but he is the definition of untouchable) so…

YOU GUYS ARE ALL WRONG!!

Golden State still owes us heavily from taking Dunleavy and Murphy off their hands! (gently weeping)

Ok Look.....

Throughout the league, common sense and reason flow heavily…. until you get to Oakland…. I have no idea what is going on in their front office (I dont think they do either) but strange possibilities seem to be endless there. They have made so many trades that leave you scratching your head it’s incredible…. so do we have enough to offer for Anthony Randolph? With Golden State…. I think everyone does…

by B-Huse on Dec 23, 2009 3:39 AM EST reply actions

How about?

Now like I said in my other post….. the Warriors dont make a lot of sense with trades…. Honestly I wouldnt take the deal if I were them…. but I also wouldn’t be trading Anthony Randolph either…

We get:
Anthony Randolph
Corey Maggete
Speedy Claxton

They get:
T.J. Ford
Jeff Foster
Maybe Rush

They don’t play Speedy and Corey gets booed by their own fans. Plus if we can make a move at Ramon Sessions like Slowka posted… that’s a great young core. Oh also for some reason the Warriors absolutely LOVE PG’s. They cant get enough of em…. don’t ask me why…

by B-Huse on Dec 23, 2009 3:54 AM EST reply actions

I dont think

there is anyway they do that. Foster is useless there, and TJ isnt exactly helping his cause at all.

by captain flitzy on Dec 23, 2009 11:53 AM EST up reply actions

I can see

Indiana being willing to give up Rush for Randolph. I would given what Randolph can bring to the Pacers that Brandon just isn’t putting together. But the Warriors wouldn’t be too interested in Ford (given the player option he has that he’s almost guaranteed to pick up after how he’s been playing this year), I wouldn’t be interested in giving up Hibbert or Hansbrough if we have to take on Maggette as well.

In fact, I’m not a fan of taking on Maggette at all, even though I know it’s going to almost be a requisite to get Randolph. I would probably be willing to part with Rush and Hibbert or Hansbrough if we don’t have to take on Maggette. I would love to pair Randolph with Danny.

But I don’t know if that works for the Warriors if they’re set on moving Maggette and I don’t see anyone the Pacers could really give up to get Randolph (and Maggette). Basically, the most logical pieces we have is DunMurph, and there is an infinitely higher chance we would ship Danny out before we would be able to include either Dunleavy or Murph in a deal involving the Warriors.

With Foster, I don’t think the Pacers would want to do that to him. If he’s moved, I think it has to be to a contender. He seems content here, the franchise is content with him, and banishing him to a Warriors team that won’t know how to use him and will continue to lose…no. He may be one of our best trade pieces, but it would be a waste if we sent him to the Warriors.

This seems a bit unlikely. In fact, it seems extremely unlikely. But it’d be one heck of a move if the Pacers could pull it off. I would hate to have to take on another bad G.State deal, but to get a guy like Randolph, it would be hard to pass up if we had a realistic chance.
