Jerryd Bayless #4  PG

Just a little update for the folks who haven't noticed. Bayless as of today is shooting 53% from the field and is 75th in the league in overall effectiveness (PER). Right between Brandon Jennings and Rudy Gay.

Brandon Rush as of today is 354th. Right between Hilton Armstong and Sasha Pavlovic. He is also 3 years older and has a much lower athletic ceiling.

If this isn't an indictment of this current regime. I don't know what is? The time to clean house was 2006. Since we missed the boat then. It needs to be done now.

End the Bird vanity project.

Bayless may put up some numbers whenever he starts getting real minutes, but I’d hesitate to call him a point guard. Notice Miller or Blake were on the court for all of his minutes last night.

If we’re going to play the hindsight olympics, forget Bayless. I’d take any of Jason Thompson, Anthony Randolph or Mareese Speights with last year’s pick. Then this year, take Ty Lawson.

PG or not he is still a useful player. Rush isn’t a PG either.

I’d take a productive 21 year old off guard that can get to the rim at will, over another marginal athlete like Rush any day of the week.

Right about hindsight

That is true about the guys we missed on. I didn’t want Speights so much but I wanted Anthony Randolph and Jason Thompson so bad. Oh and you can’t go by “PER” ratings. Those don’t even come close to telling the whole story and were made up by some basketball fanatic with no time on his hands. You know who’s number one on the PER ranking? Kyle Weaver out of Oklahoma City. Above Chris Paul, Lebron, Kobe, everybody. And the best he is really is a solid bench player. Also, you can’t blaim Bird for not hitting a home run EVERY time. Sure he’s made a couple moves I didn’t agree with but getting a stud every time you draft is just plain not gonna happen. The best GM’s are lucky if they get 75% of their picks live up to their potential. If we would’ve been able to sign Jarrett Jack back (still a sensitive subject for me) then we would’ve won that trade by a mile. We got rid of IKE DIOGU! So what if Larry doesn’t make that trade? We would be whining to him right now about moving Diogu and who knows if Bayless even would’ve turned out any good?! He’s apparently not been good enough to scratch the surface (barring injury) in Portland. Also, Larry picked up Danny even after people the fore-mentioned Ike Diogu was already drafted. Many people thought we should grab Charlie Villenuava instead.

So…. bottom line…. Larry hasn’t had a whole lot of time. He’s STILL cleaning up the mess Donnie Walsh made with the thugs we used to have seeing that we have Murphy’s and Dunleavy’s contract. Oh but hiring Jim O’Brien made me wanna throw up so be made all you want about that cause that was stupid.

Not enough time?

Bird has been here since 2003/2004. How much time does a GM need?

True

True but Donnie was still callin’ a lot of the shots and Larry was following his lead at the time.
