Game Thread #13: Los Angeles Clippers at Indiana Pacers

Los Angeles Clippers at Indiana Pacers, Nov 25, 2009 7:00 PM EST

Los Angeles Clippers
@
Indiana Pacers
6-95-7
Novermber 25, 2009 - 7:00PM EST
Conseco Fieldhouse
Radio: 1070AM WFNI   TV: Fox Sports Indiana
Probable starters:
Baron Davis PG T.J. Ford
Rasual Butler SG Brandon Rush
Al Thornton SF Danny Granger
Marcus Camby PF Troy Murphy
Chris Kaman C Roy Hibbert

The Indiana Pacers host Eric Gordon and the Los Angeles Clippers at Conseco Fieldhouse tonight, desperately seeking a win to halt an ugly four-game losing streak. EJ has missed the last eight games for the Clippers while resting the always wince-worthy strained groin, but he's hoping to return to the court while he's back home again in Indiana tonight.

According to Bruno's Scouting Report, Mike Dunleavy is listed as out for tonight's game which officially puts to rest the hope he might return to the court against his father's squad. The Clippers present a dangerous challenge for the Pacers tonight. After losing first overall draft pick, Blake Griffin the Clips started the season 0-4. Since the bleak start, however, the Clippers have managed to win more games than they've lost including their last two outings. Chris Kaman and Al Thornton have been getting it done making the Clips less reliant on the up and down results of Baron Davis.

In short, the Pacers better bring it tonight or they'll find themselves in a hole not unlike Charlotte and Toronto. Yesterday, Jim O'Brien mentioned starting Roy Hibbert again tonight, but that was before the game. With the Clippers trotting out Kaman and Marcus Camby it seems like Hibbert could find a reasonable matchup. I'll resist the urge to hope for a better perimeter shooting night from the Pacers and instead implore the home team to move the ball and open up some shots closer to the rim. Time to rise up and find a way to win.

Better start

Better finish

Better defense

Better win…or else.

T.J. and D.Jones

Hosted Thanksgiving dinner at Conseco. Work on that chemistry, guys!

by Nathan S. on Nov 25, 2009 6:45 PM EST reply actions

Maybe

just resting him tonight?

by jantz101 on Nov 25, 2009 7:03 PM EST up reply actions

Docs are checking it out

but he had a similar issue this summer. As long as it is a Grade 1 strain, shouldn’t be a big deal.

by Tom Lewis on Nov 25, 2009 7:04 PM EST up reply actions

Yeah...

It didn’t look to be an issue last night

by jantz101 on Nov 25, 2009 7:07 PM EST up reply actions

It seems weird

That there isn’t really any timetable. Resting him seems plausible. Maybe something minor flared up in his knee, dunno. Hope it’s nothing serious. I’m sure they’d talk about it a bit more if it were.

by Nathan S. on Nov 25, 2009 7:11 PM EST up reply actions

Unless JOB

comes from the school of Bilichek

by jantz101 on Nov 25, 2009 7:12 PM EST up reply actions

Doesn't sound like a whole lot

Really to say about Danny. Team seemed to pick it up without him last year, hope that can be the case tonight.

by Nathan S. on Nov 25, 2009 7:01 PM EST reply actions

Hopefully

we can watch 2 second halves tonight, instead of one second half last night

by jantz101 on Nov 25, 2009 7:05 PM EST reply actions

Man

I love the talent the Clips have. I hope we don’t get to see the full extent of that talent from Thornton and Gordon and Jordan.

by Nathan S. on Nov 25, 2009 7:08 PM EST reply actions

+1

They are a couple years away from being a complete team. But then again, so are we!

by jantz101 on Nov 25, 2009 7:11 PM EST up reply actions

Sloppy start

No sense in Roy standing, holding the ball, not making any action for a good five or six seconds.

by Nathan S. on Nov 25, 2009 7:13 PM EST reply actions

Man

League pass has the clippers broadcast. Kinda disappointed in that…

by jantz101 on Nov 25, 2009 7:14 PM EST reply actions

I think

I’ll try and watch Murph on the defensive end tonight, see if I can’t use something to pull him out of this pile of Tim Jennings hatred.

by Nathan S. on Nov 25, 2009 7:16 PM EST reply actions

I mean

Clearly, this team is showing nothing else worth watching, especially on the offensive end.

by Nathan S. on Nov 25, 2009 7:17 PM EST up reply actions

Baron

Seems interested tonight. Glad we got him with a couple of quick fouls. Could be problematic if he’s on the floor too long.

by Nathan S. on Nov 25, 2009 7:19 PM EST reply actions

Good defensive effort

Bad shot forced up by the Clips.

by Nathan S. on Nov 25, 2009 7:23 PM EST reply actions

Lame foul

Pacers playing pretty solid D here in the first. Shame the offense is stagnant.

by Nathan S. on Nov 25, 2009 7:27 PM EST reply actions

Brandon for 3

Good thing the Clippers offense is terrible too

by jantz101 on Nov 25, 2009 7:30 PM EST reply actions

Well

We’re seeing the second unit led by Rush, and it’s not exactly pretty. More reason for me as to why he should start if he’s not going to control the offensive end of the floor when playing with the second unit.

by Nathan S. on Nov 25, 2009 7:31 PM EST reply actions

Unnecessary extra pass by Watson

Terrible shot he had, but the extra pass was forced.

Ugly first half. Did I hear that right? 4-23!? Jeez.

by Nathan S. on Nov 25, 2009 7:35 PM EST reply actions

Oh man...

17% shooting. That’s about the percentage I shoot.

by Nathan S. on Nov 25, 2009 7:39 PM EST reply actions

Nice tip Murph

Need a little hustle out there!

by jantz101 on Nov 25, 2009 7:39 PM EST reply actions

Ricky Davis

might be one of my least favorite players

by jantz101 on Nov 25, 2009 7:40 PM EST reply actions

Head

Getting us some much needed offense.

by Nathan S. on Nov 25, 2009 7:41 PM EST reply actions

Down 3

after all this offensive garbage

by jantz101 on Nov 25, 2009 7:41 PM EST reply actions

There can't

Be more than three teams we could play this poorly against offensively and still be in it.

by Nathan S. on Nov 25, 2009 7:42 PM EST up reply actions

Big Roy

with some good looks, but has yet to get one to fall

by jantz101 on Nov 25, 2009 7:46 PM EST reply actions

Clank city

can’t believe Pacers survived that first quarter. Luther doing his part to fill Granger’s scoring void.

by Tom Lewis on Nov 25, 2009 7:48 PM EST reply actions

Still haven't gotten through it

Everyone’s still out there laying bricks.

by Nathan S. on Nov 25, 2009 7:49 PM EST up reply actions

Someone's gonna go on a run

Why do I get the feeling it’s not the Pacers?

by jantz101 on Nov 25, 2009 7:50 PM EST up reply actions

As long as the defense remians solid

I’m not too worried. But the second they lapse a trip or two on defense, the Pacers could be in real trouble.

by Nathan S. on Nov 25, 2009 7:51 PM EST up reply actions

Man, nice rebound by Rush

SMH when he does that kind of thing out of the blue. Where does it hide?

by Tom Lewis on Nov 25, 2009 7:53 PM EST reply actions

Boom baby!

Rush with a hat trick of triples.

by Nathan S. on Nov 25, 2009 7:56 PM EST reply actions

Dumb pass by T.J.

Really really dumb pass by T.J. Like seriously, dude? Now D.Jones gets his third foul because of that stupid pass.

by Nathan S. on Nov 25, 2009 7:58 PM EST reply actions

That ish

makes me want to see AJ out there

by jantz101 on Nov 25, 2009 8:01 PM EST up reply actions

For good measure

Blows a good layup by just throwing it off the backboard. Ugh.

by Nathan S. on Nov 25, 2009 8:02 PM EST up reply actions

Digging Danny's blazer

Sharp, but refined like a private eye. Hopefully he can crack the Case of the Missing Offense.

Oh wait, we already know where it went.

Good shot, Murph!

by Nathan S. on Nov 25, 2009 8:01 PM EST reply actions

Nice!

Crack the case of the missing offense. Good call!

by jantz101 on Nov 25, 2009 8:02 PM EST up reply actions

Great play there!

Head pulls up, great dish to Roy, and now on the verge of a three point play!

by Nathan S. on Nov 25, 2009 8:04 PM EST reply actions

Yikes

Roy, Dahntay and Rush all with three fouls now.

by Tom Lewis on Nov 25, 2009 8:06 PM EST reply actions

That was a really foolish foul for Roy

There was no need to do that. Kamen’s not been playing well, and he didn’t even have the ball. Can only shake my head in displeasure.

by Nathan S. on Nov 25, 2009 8:06 PM EST up reply actions

With all the talent the Clippers have

How does Kaman get away with 13 shots in the first half?

by jantz101 on Nov 25, 2009 8:06 PM EST reply actions

He's actually

One of their bigger weapons this season, for whatever inexplicable reason you can find for it, haha.

by Nathan S. on Nov 25, 2009 8:07 PM EST up reply actions

Ugh

the best shot we can get is a 17 footer for Foster at the buzzer? Really?

by jantz101 on Nov 25, 2009 8:08 PM EST reply actions

At least

This could be a LOT worse than it is. I don’t know where we can find the offensive intensity we need, but what’s up with Head just disappearing from the offense? Set up Roy a couple of times, but if he’s on, we need to ride that momentum.

by Nathan S. on Nov 25, 2009 8:09 PM EST reply actions

Yeah

Head stepped up in the first half. We need someone to take over the game in the second. I vote for D Jones or Rush

by jantz101 on Nov 25, 2009 8:13 PM EST up reply actions

Assuming they don't foul out anyway

Rush has been hitting shots outside, which in a low scoring game like this, are really important.

by Nathan S. on Nov 25, 2009 8:14 PM EST up reply actions

True with the fouling

If Rush’s outside game is working and Jones can get some strong drives to the basket, the second half should be better then the first

by jantz101 on Nov 25, 2009 8:19 PM EST up reply actions

Further proof besides watching Pacers games that I am a glutton for punishment

I am working a promotion at a mall in San Fran over Black Friday. I start tomorrow at 11pm and work until 4pm on Friday. This should be a crazy 17 hrs! Before you ask, it pays really well, thats the reason I said yes…

by jantz101 on Nov 25, 2009 8:17 PM EST reply actions

Yikes

Best of luck with it. Hopefully you can make it out well enough to be ready for more punishment for Friday’s game.

by Nathan S. on Nov 25, 2009 8:19 PM EST up reply actions

I will give the game a chance

But will probably be struggling to keep my eyes open! Should be interesting!

by jantz101 on Nov 25, 2009 8:22 PM EST up reply actions

22-10

Clips owning points in the paint.

by Nathan S. on Nov 25, 2009 8:23 PM EST reply actions

Bruno reports

MRI of Granger’s knee confirms a sprain. He’s day-to-day. No idea was grade the sprain is, though.

by Tom Lewis on Nov 25, 2009 8:25 PM EST reply actions

Weird play

Just sat on the floor for a while, seems to have a shoulder injury?

by Nathan S. on Nov 25, 2009 8:30 PM EST reply actions

Alright guys

heading out for dinner. I’ll be rootin them on! Here’s hoping the second half is better then the first!

by jantz101 on Nov 25, 2009 8:32 PM EST reply actions

Big play by Head

Getting the fourth on Baron. Getting him out is going to be very important to get us back into this one.

by Nathan S. on Nov 25, 2009 8:36 PM EST reply actions

Hey

Danny changed his blazer! I liked the other one…

by Nathan S. on Nov 25, 2009 8:48 PM EST reply actions

Ouch

Never a good sign if Camby is drilling three pointers…

by Nathan S. on Nov 25, 2009 8:50 PM EST reply actions

One of the most underrated faces

From that extremely deep ’96 draft.

This guy always seems to come through with the big shot or big rebound or big play somewhere.

by Nathan S. on Nov 25, 2009 8:52 PM EST up reply actions

Feels like the momentum is all in Indiana's favor

Need to keep an eye on Gordon here, don’t need him to get going.

by Nathan S. on Nov 25, 2009 8:58 PM EST reply actions

Monster block by D.Jones!

Great court to court by T.J.!

Pacers up four.

by Nathan S. on Nov 25, 2009 9:02 PM EST reply actions

Pacers up 3 with 5:28 left

Intensity has picked up since the silliness between TJ and Baron.

by Tom Lewis on Nov 25, 2009 9:07 PM EST reply actions

Baron hamming it up

LA doing him a lot of good in the acting dept.

by Nathan S. on Nov 25, 2009 9:09 PM EST reply actions

Boom babbyyy!!

Ford makes a really good play getting that one to D.Jones.

by Nathan S. on Nov 25, 2009 9:11 PM EST reply actions

All right!

T.J. stepping up here late.

by Nathan S. on Nov 25, 2009 9:12 PM EST reply actions

From Bruno's courtside seat:

T.J. appears upset with Rush over a broken play but as players head to the huddle during a timeout, Jones steps in between them, puts his arms around both and mediates nicely. Good leadership in a tight situation But Pacers will have four in the clock and a 79-72 lead when they come back with 2:58 left. Wednesday November 25, 2009 9:14 Bruno

by Tom Lewis on Nov 25, 2009 9:14 PM EST reply actions

Nice

Murph saved a possession, then Foster saved it. keep the clock running.

by Tom Lewis on Nov 25, 2009 9:16 PM EST reply actions

Did Brandon

Really miss both FTs? C’mon, ice it.

by Nathan S. on Nov 25, 2009 9:17 PM EST reply actions

TJ sets up Murph for the 3-ball. Pacers up 9

by Tom Lewis on Nov 25, 2009 9:19 PM EST reply actions

74 in one half last night

73 all night tonight.

Thank YOU, LA Clippers!

by Nathan S. on Nov 25, 2009 9:22 PM EST reply actions

Clips played poorly offensively

But I want to give some credit to the defense. This team is a pretty solid defensive team when they want to be.

Still haven’t played one game within seven points this year.

by Nathan S. on Nov 25, 2009 9:24 PM EST reply actions

Luther Head

Player of the game. He kept this team alive in the first half. Who knows what could’ve happened without his contributions.

by Nathan S. on Nov 25, 2009 9:27 PM EST reply actions

I'll take partial credit for this one

Took one for the team and stopped watching. Looks like thats all the Pacers needed to score some points! Glad the defense stepped up because the offense wasn’t there tonight. Good win!
