Game Thread #11: Indiana Pacers at Charlotte Bobcats

Indiana Pacers at Charlotte Bobcats, Nov 22, 2009 5:00 PM EST

Indiana Pacers

5-53-9
November 22, 2009 - 5:00PM EST
Time Warner Cable Arena
Radio: 1070AM WFNI   TV: No local TV
Probable starters:
T.J. Ford PG Raymond Felton
Brandon Rush SG Stephen Jackson
Dahntay Jones SF Gerald Wallace
Danny Granger PF Boris Diaw
Roy Hibbert C Tyson Chandler

With their record leveled at .500, the Indiana Pacers hit the road for a pair of games beginning Sunday evening at the Charlotte Bobcats. This game will fly under the radar considering the tip time is at 5:00PM  in the heart of an NFL Sunday. Plus, there will be no local television broadcast of the game back to Indiana. As usual, Mark Boyle and Slick Leonard will provide the 1080i quality visuals with their radio call.

The Pacers enter a dangerous stretch of games as they continue to incorporate new faces into the lineup. Tonight's game against the Bobcats is the first of three games in four days for the Pacers. All three games are potential wins with Toronto and the L.A. Clippers closing out the trifecta. Obviously, all three can just as easily become losses without solid play from the blue and gold.

The combination of injured players returning (Murphy, Foster tonight, Dunleavy on Wednesday) to play with new faces (Dahntay, Earl, Hansbrough, Solo) on the roster means there will likely be several playing rotations that have never played together in an NBA game. Plus, they haven't even practiced much if any together as a unit. So the risk of slop is there at a time when the Pacers need to cash in some wins to keep a positive start of the season from turning sour.

Sorry to dwell on the negative amidst all of the good injury news, but I've seen this movie before and these weathering these situations are critical for the Pacers to find the success they are striving for this season.  On a positive note, Tyler Hansbrough should receive a positive reaction when he makes his pro debut back in North Carolina.

For a Charlotte perspective, check out Rufus On Fire.

Leave your thoughts and observations on the game in the comments. I have a 2nd grade game at the same time but so I'll be catching up later, so keep me posted on how things are going.

Dangerous game

Bobcats amidst a 7 game losing skid, but a loss is very likely, it seems. I don’t feel too comfortable about this game, but hopefully I’m overthinking it.

The heck?

Game starts at five? Or I guess a few minutes after. They’re still doing Colts post game stuff.

Ford gets a quick two

Hopefully he can have a good, smart game tonight.

TV?

I think there’s a Charlotte feed if you can find it online. My computer can’t handle it, so I’m just listening to the radio broadcast via NBA Audio League Pass, which is free.

Murph in

For Roy. See what he can do. Watson also in.

1070thefan.com live feed doesn’t have the game.

You’ll have to sign up for NBA.com, but that’s all free, then just click on Audio League Pass and then click on “Indiana” to hear the Pacers feed. Or you can torture yourself with the Bobcats feed, haha.

Granger with two fouls

Uh…dude…

Hansbrough in…fans love it.

by Nathan S. on Nov 22, 2009 5:24 PM EST reply actions

Hansbrough

Going to the line. He needs to get better at this free throw thing. Knock ’em both down.

by Nathan S. on Nov 22, 2009 5:30 PM EST reply actions

Defense

Letting up too much to the Bobcats. This is the worst offense in the NBA, there’s no excuses to make them look good.

by Nathan S. on Nov 22, 2009 5:32 PM EST reply actions

Watson's collddd

He’s been really poor these past few games.

by Nathan S. on Nov 22, 2009 5:33 PM EST reply actions

28-20 Bobcats

Sloppy first quarter. Get it under control, guys.

by Nathan S. on Nov 22, 2009 5:36 PM EST reply actions

0-8 3P

8-27 overall. Ugly offensive night, dreadful defensive night. This team needs to quit screwing around.

by Nathan S. on Nov 22, 2009 5:46 PM EST reply actions

Ball movement

Assists for Indiana: 1, Charlotte: 7. Granted, being able to hit shots is important, but we’re definitely not putting the ball in position to get easy baskets.

D.Jones

Getting the and one opp! That’s what we need!

by Nathan S. on Nov 22, 2009 5:52 PM EST reply actions

Bobcats winning the second 10-7

About half way through. I think we’re seeing that Bobcats offensive futility. No excuses to not get in the swing of things with this game.

by Nathan S. on Nov 22, 2009 5:55 PM EST reply actions

I'm at the game

Might be the only guy with Pacer gear on. Lol

by RIPShea on Nov 22, 2009 5:55 PM EST via mobile reply actions

How's the crowd?

If you can respond anyway, haha. I know I couldn’t due to my phone’s lameness, but I want to know how many Hansbrough fans are there.

by Nathan S. on Nov 22, 2009 5:56 PM EST up reply actions

good many hansbrough fans

Well good many duke/unc fans like always.

by RIPShea on Nov 22, 2009 5:58 PM EST via mobile up reply actions

if you see a dude in a

Reggie jersey (white pinstripes) and a chick in an oversized Tinsdale jersey that’s us :) lower bowl

by RIPShea on Nov 22, 2009 6:01 PM EST via mobile up reply actions

Unfortunately

No TV feed, so I’ll have to wait for Mark to mention you, haha.

by Nathan S. on Nov 22, 2009 6:04 PM EST up reply actions

Danny with three fouls

I predict him on the bench with 4:04 left in the fourth. Just a guess.

by Nathan S. on Nov 22, 2009 5:56 PM EST reply actions

Boom baby!

Danny finally hits one!!

by Nathan S. on Nov 22, 2009 5:57 PM EST reply actions

Pacers

Finally showing some life! About time, guys.

by Nathan S. on Nov 22, 2009 6:00 PM EST reply actions

This team

Cannot make a defensive stop to save their lives. This looks familiar to the first two games, but these issues happened without Murph in the lineup…what happened?

by Nathan S. on Nov 22, 2009 6:09 PM EST reply actions

52-41

Bobcats break their season high of halftime points by 24. You’re welcome, Charlotte.

by Nathan S. on Nov 22, 2009 6:10 PM EST reply actions

well my friend said

It is suppose to be on the fssouth channel and the listing says it on but they are showing womens college ball so maybe it isn’t televised.

by RIPShea on Nov 22, 2009 6:13 PM EST via mobile reply actions

I saw

It was listed on Comcast under the NBA League Pass thing, so I assumed it was Charlotte’s feed, but I don’t have league pass, so I don’t have that.

by Nathan S. on Nov 22, 2009 6:14 PM EST up reply actions

Numbers

About even in a most areas, Pacers trail 11-6 in assists, but lead 5-1 in blocks, but FG is making it the difference. Charlotte shooting 46%, Pacers 33%. Indiana trails by 4 in the FT differential.

Not exactly the best half, but if we step up defensively even a little bit, there’s no reason why we can’t limit Charlotte’s points.

Granger and Rush lead with 7 points.

by Nathan S. on Nov 22, 2009 6:13 PM EST reply actions

Slick says

Pacers need to come out meaner than a snake. Who need Clark Kellogg when you’ve got Slick? Haha

by Nathan S. on Nov 22, 2009 6:25 PM EST reply actions

Danny

With another triple. Need him to start hitting shots!!

by Nathan S. on Nov 22, 2009 6:27 PM EST reply actions

Bobcats having their way

Pacers don’t seem to want to be here.

A 20-point Bobcats lead. 64-44

by Nathan S. on Nov 22, 2009 6:31 PM EST reply actions

well

Gerald Wallace sure is fun to watch! The Pacers- not so much :(

by RIPShea on Nov 22, 2009 6:34 PM EST via mobile reply actions

Granger showing life

But no one else is.

Pacers still down big.

by Nathan S. on Nov 22, 2009 6:40 PM EST reply actions

Roy

Having another rough game. No regression here, big fella.

by Nathan S. on Nov 22, 2009 6:43 PM EST reply actions

Nazr Mohammad

Looks like an All-Star. 18 points.

by Nathan S. on Nov 22, 2009 6:47 PM EST reply actions

Pacers down

81-60 after 3.

No excuses.

by Nathan S. on Nov 22, 2009 6:53 PM EST reply actions

this is

Depressing lol

by RIPShea on Nov 22, 2009 6:54 PM EST via mobile reply actions

I'm actually glad

I can’t watch it. Not only would I be watching a blowout, but I’d have to watch them wearing those hideous mustard jerseys, haha.

by Nathan S. on Nov 22, 2009 6:55 PM EST up reply actions

The Knicks 2nd half

Was like 20x less depressing than this game. Granger is doing everything he can… Always like 3 guys spying him… The rest of the team is playing like crap. Stephen Graham in his limited minutes is even making us look silly. Hell put in McBobs for the remainder of the game JOB!

by RIPShea on Nov 22, 2009 7:01 PM EST via mobile up reply actions

this is pitiful

the bobcats… the freaking bobcats. they have one of the worst offenses in th league

by dbcb on Nov 22, 2009 6:58 PM EST reply actions

There's really no excuse for this

Absolutely dreadful showing here on both sides of the ball for this team.

by Nathan S. on Nov 22, 2009 7:00 PM EST up reply actions

All that's happening is the team's trading baskets

Not exactly a formula for success if you’re Indiana.

by Nathan S. on Nov 22, 2009 7:04 PM EST reply actions

ugh

My girlfriend just asked if there was time to see New Moon tonight… I don’t know what is worse- being at this game or putting up with Twilight again

by RIPShea on Nov 22, 2009 7:05 PM EST via mobile reply actions

Price playing hard

At least someone is.

Mark and Slick having a tough time handing out player of the game, finally succumb to giving it to Tyler Hansbrough because they’re in Carolina.

by Nathan S. on Nov 22, 2009 7:22 PM EST reply actions

Ive been upset all week

this game wasnt going to be on tv. maybe the pacers knew something i didnt with not letting its fans watch this game, haha

If Youre not First, Youre Last

by drsuessrunner07 on Nov 22, 2009 7:22 PM EST reply actions

Well, it's over.

Didn’t catch the final score. Don’t really want to. Hope they got it out of their system and come to play in Toronto. That one’s going to be a little harder than this one should’ve been.

by Nathan S. on Nov 22, 2009 7:25 PM EST reply actions

Yeesh

Thanks for all of the comments. I could feel this clunker coming a mile away, but still held out hope it wouldn’t happen. I’m watching it now, will have more in a bit.
