Game Thread #9: New York Knicks at Indiana Pacers

New York Knicks at Indiana Pacers, Nov 18, 2009 7:00 PM EST

@
Indiana Pacers
1-95-3
Novermber 18, 2009 - 7:00PM EST
Conseco Fieldhouse
Radio: 1070AM WFNI   TV: Fox Sports Indiana
Probable starters:
Chris Duhon PG T.J. Ford
Larry Hughes SG Brandon Rush
Wilson Chandler SF Dahntay Jones
Danilo Gallinari PF Danny Granger
David Lee C Roy Hibbert

The Indiana Pacers try to extend their winning streak to six game tonight when they host the 1-9 New York Knicks at the Fieldhouse. Yes, the W will be there for the taking but it won't be nearly as easy as it appears on paper (or pixels depending on your preference for content consumption).

The Pacers are playing their second game in two nights and were forced to extend a lot of energy to secure a win in New Jersey last night. Meanwhile, the Knicks haven't played since last Friday, so with four full days off in the tank, not only are the Knicks desperate for a win but they're rested and ready to go after it.

The Pacers turned their season around with a stellar second-half defensive effort when the teams met at MSG two weeks ago and they've maintained that defensive disposition ever since. Depending on the D is the easiest way to keep the current good feelings flowing. Hopefully they can take some of that flow to the offensive end and make it a bit easier to score buckets than it was last night.

Whether they depend on their defense or offense or some  productive combination of the two, this is a game the Pacers need to win to back up their playoff aspirations.

using the word “company” twice in the same joke detracts from its comedic value. how do i edit these things?

Mike Dunleavy

Just read the new Dunleavy blog on Pacers.com and as usual its inspiring that he will be back soon, it sounds like. But what wasn’t inspiring is what I heard from the commentators at the Nets game last night. They had said that there were rumors that Mike Dunleavys injury could be worse than expected and could be career ending. They had noted that the surgey that he had was the first for a player in the nba to ever have it done.

Pacers up 18-14

Nice to see the boys hitting the offensive glass. Now if only they could limit the opportunities on the O-glass by making some shots.

errr

My nap lasted longer than expected. I see the score but how we looking?

by RIPShea on Nov 18, 2009 7:41 PM EST reply actions

Yeesh

connection gremlins at the fieldhouse are killing me.

Gotta start making some shots.

I like the physicality

that Solo Dolo and Dahntay bring to the team

by RIPShea on Nov 18, 2009 7:44 PM EST reply actions

Nice

Luther beat everybody to the loose ball to set up Danny for a flush.

by Tom Lewis on Nov 18, 2009 7:45 PM EST reply actions

We knew Granger would be our scoring threat

but it seems he is rebounding better this year..may just be me cuz I haven’t looked at stats.

by RIPShea on Nov 18, 2009 7:47 PM EST reply actions

definitely grabbing more boards this year

of course, he’s playing power forward to, so he kind of has to hit the glass.

I wish I lived in the area!

I wanna go to the fieldhouse. I hit up Phillips Arena and go to Charlotte when we play the Hawks and Bobcats. I saw all the tickets they were giving away on twitter today…very cool

Mark it down Cornrows, and give me a shout out tomorrow when I hit it on the head.

on a side note...

I think Carmelo is the 2nd best player in the league right now behind Kobe.. Carmelo seems to want it more than LeBron..he’s playing possessed. He wants to win more

by RIPShea on Nov 18, 2009 7:59 PM EST reply actions

Wow

Can’t believe Danny caught that pass, let alone cashed it in for an and 1.

by Tom Lewis on Nov 18, 2009 8:01 PM EST reply actions

YES

Roy and Danny doublin down.

by Tom Lewis on Nov 18, 2009 8:06 PM EST reply actions

Ooo

by Tom Lewis on Nov 18, 2009 8:07 PM EST reply actions

This is what I remember from his college days

callin’ for the ball, fighting for every rebound…imposing his will!

by RIPShea on Nov 18, 2009 8:12 PM EST reply actions

Roy in the post all night

unless of course DG33 is in the game going for 50

by Tom Lewis on Nov 18, 2009 8:13 PM EST reply actions

Beautiful finish

set up by Earl. Dahntay cashes it in for his 12th point of the half.

PACERS UP 69-54

by Tom Lewis on Nov 18, 2009 8:13 PM EST reply actions

by RIPShea on Nov 18, 2009 8:14 PM EST reply actions

I'm flipping between this game and the re-run of the Colts/Pats game

Yes – NFL Network is replaying the ENTIRE game. Now that I knows how it ends, I’m not as stressed. Imagine that.

Pacers up 19

getting it done at both ends now.

by Tom Lewis on Nov 18, 2009 8:49 PM EST reply actions

Lead down to 12

Yeesh, Knicks dno’t have much fight in them. Pacers are just sloppy.

by Tom Lewis on Nov 18, 2009 8:56 PM EST reply actions

Granger's fifth

he was begging for Roy to get the foul

by Tom Lewis on Nov 18, 2009 9:05 PM EST reply actions

Whew

Dahntay bailed out by the whistle on that one. Pacers only up 8, needed a break

by Tom Lewis on Nov 18, 2009 9:10 PM EST reply actions

Interesting lineup at a key time

Granger with foul trouble so, JOB goes, Hibby, Hans,Dahntay, Earl, TJ.

DJ draws a charge.

Pacers up 11 with 8:21 left.

by Tom Lewis on Nov 18, 2009 9:15 PM EST reply actions

Nice rip by Hansbrough

gets the ball going the other way after stripping David Lee.

by Tom Lewis on Nov 18, 2009 9:19 PM EST reply actions

Ooo

that was off TJ, caught a break

by Tom Lewis on Nov 18, 2009 9:28 PM EST reply actions

At least someone was guarding Al

Roy picks up the charge though, Knick lead by 1

by Tom Lewis on Nov 18, 2009 9:29 PM EST reply actions

ugly end and bad coaching

That was the most pathetic implosion I can remember a basketball team making. Why does OB continue to play Ford with Watson when it has never worked? And why does he not call plays for Granger or Hibbert when they combined for like 40 points in the first half?
