Troy Murphy for Tayshaun Prince?... Your Thoughts?

Trade Troy Murphy for Tayshaun Prince! (Maybe add a pick or something).. I know teams in the same division usually don't trade with each other but here's my reasons...

- Contracts are almost identical at 2 years and around 10 or 11 mil.

- Danny keeps playin Power Forward (Which has worked out so well).

- The Pacers are incredibly 3rd in the league in rebounds. (The guy who made the 1st comment isn't stupid I put this in after his entry)

- Detroit is 16th in rebounding (That won't do if they wanna be in the playoffs).

- Detroit could us him at Center if they're looking to run, as amazing as Kwame Brown is.

- We would have another great perimeter defender.

- He fits in Jim O'Brien's system (Basically meaning he can shoot 3's lol).

- Oh, and both players are coincidentally having back problems right now.

- Roy's been playing out of his mind with Troy out.

- Apparently there's talk of Tayshaun being available but I can't confirm that.

So our Starters would be:

PG- T.J. Ford

SG- Dahntay Jones

SF- Tayshaun Prince

PF- Danny Granger

C- Roy Hibbert

Bench:

PG- Earl Watson

SG- Brandon Rush

SF- Mike Dunleavy

PF- Jeff Foster

C- Solomon Jones

Plus:Hansbrough; Head; Diener; McRoberts; Price

I would love to hear your thoughts on this, good or bad.

nah...

Murphy just fits our system so much better. Having a PF that can get out and make those 3s when we need him too as well as rebound like a true PF, it’s a nice combination.

Rebuttle

I respectfully disagree, this season even without Murph we are 3rd in the league in rebounds behind Milwaukee and Dallas. Plus Danny can hit those 3’s as well if not better then Troy.

Sure

I would love this trade to go down. Prince could be inserted into the starting lineup and we could then bury Rush on the bench. His play this season has been suspect at best, 7.4 pts, 4.6 rebs, 1.4 assts, while shooting only 35% from the floor. So yeah I’d be fine moving Murphy for Prince. The only problem I see is that no one in Detroit would want this. Sorry, I just don’t see any value in Murphy at the money he’s making.

No

Given my distaste for all things Pistons (for obvious reasons) I would cringe every time I saw Prince in a Pacers jersey. Trade might make sense, but it would still make me cringe.

Great trade idea

Tay-Tay has a gold medal and Troy doesn’t.

I can’t see tough as nails Joe Dumars even giving this trade a second thought, this will never happen.

Our best chance at getting Prince is when Troy’s deal is up so is Tay’s ….. I say start the sales pitch now come to nap-town.

Rebuttle (again)

Yes ThirtyOne I can see why you hate the Pistons but personally I’ve moved on. And to Man of Pace, before this season I wouldn’t have thought Joe Dumars would’ve given this any thought either. But seeing that they picked up two players in Charlie Villanueva and Ben Gordon, I actually see it as a possibility with a draft pick. Cause neither of those guys are tough-nose defenders (especially Villanueva). Maybe throw in a 1st rounder in 2011? Oh ThirtyOne, I see Murphy as quite a threat playing for any team. He’s a double-double machine who can stretch the defense (Would be very helpful for Will Bynum he likes to shoot around the basket). Of course he’s overpaid (but so is Tayshaun). I also agree with you that Brandon needs to come off the bench unless he starts making plays with the ball. It looks like he doesn’t want to step on anybody’s toes out there and just lets everyone else do the work. He needs a fire in him that he just doesn’t seem to have right now.

x

You just might be right ….

If this were to happen, oh my, talk about a story … Indiana and Detroit doing a deal would be akin to the isreali’s and palastinians doing a deal ….

would be great, but will never happen

they already have a bald, slightly funnier looking version of troy murphy in charlie villanueva- both bring similar strengths and weaknesses, no need for two of them on their roster.

I don’t like the idea of keeping Danny Granger at the power forward position permanently. I think he’s better off on the wing.
