Tinsley negotiating with the Grizzlies

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=4654711

"The Grizzlies have begun serious negotiations with free agent Jamaal Tinsley, and could sign the veteran as early as Saturday, The Commercial Appeal of Memphis has reported."

""He's on the radar," Grizzlies general manager Chris Wallace said Saturday in a text message to the Memphis newspaper."

Star-divide

Thoughts everyone?  Personally, I'd like to see him playing again and since he'll be playing for a bad team, it's not like he will all of a sudden turn into a championship winning PG.  I like the guy but I'm not ready to see him reach his potential with another team quite yet.

I wish this were like baseball

And we actually got some kind of arbitration for Tinsley. Then I’d be a lot more excited about him signing with someone.

Beyond that, it’s not like the Griz could use more dysfunction, but I guess if there’s a situation to see our former dysfunctions in, it would have to be with a team like the Grizzles.

I hope he plays

I thought the Wizards would be smart to snag, but he can’t do any more damage to the Griz so it should be interesting to see what he does.

It's official (from USA Today)

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — The Memphis Grizzlies signed point guard Jamaal Tinsley on Saturday, adding a player with a checkered past and a 1{-year layoff to their troubled team.

The Grizzlies announced the signing in a press release before their game against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Tinsley was bought out by the Indiana Pacers in July, but has not played in the NBA since the middle of the 2007-08 season. He was still under contract with the Pacers, but told to stay away from the team last season.

In his seven seasons with Indiana, Tinsley averaged 10.4 points and seven assists. The assists average puts him seventh among active players.

In related news. . .

The Grizzlies have signed Maurice Clerett, Derrick Coleman, and O.J. Simpson. Have fun with Tinsley, I’m sure he and AI will be great friends.

Wow, I agree with the last post about signing other criminal type athletes. I cannot believe Memphis or any other NBA team would even consider this move. Foolish……
