Preseason Open Thread #7: Pacers vs. Spurs

San Antonio Spurs at Indiana Pacers, Oct 23, 2009 7:00 PM EDT

The Indiana Pacers close out the preseason tonight against the San Antonio Spurs at Assembly Hall in Bloomington, Indiana.

No television for either team tonight so make sure to listen to Mark Boyle on 1070 The Fan. Not sure who will be working in the analyst's chair with Mark.  Bruno will also be live blogging from Assembly Hall.  Please use the comments to offer up your thoughts on the game or anything else about the Pacers as we prep for the games that count starting next week.

Sounds like

This game could get ugly too…

by jantz101 on Oct 23, 2009 7:04 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

uhhh...yeah

Maybe they’ll put Timmy and Parker on ice early.

Murph gets the Pacers going early

taking advantage of his limited time. 4-0

Quick switch to the bench

Solo, Dhantay and Foster running now with Granger and Earl 16-11

by Tom Lewis on Oct 23, 2009 7:23 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Pacers down 20-18

Dhantay Jones keeping the pace fast, finishing a quick bucket on the run.

Watson

with 3 early assists. Sounds like he is making more of an impact early, compared to last game.

Everything is going a bit better

Couldn’t have gone much worse though.

George Hill makes his first appearance

Probably relishes the chance to play at Assembly Hall.

1-8

from 3pt range. Would love to see some of those shots fall…

5 offensive boards in the first quarter, Pacers showing some hustle out there!

by jantz101 on Oct 23, 2009 7:41 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

AJ hits a 3

but it sounds like Price is struggling to keep up with Hill.

by Tom Lewis on Oct 23, 2009 7:45 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Hill

is killin’ it! A.J just got him back with a 3pt play though. Go get ’em A.J.!

Pacers down three

but Granger just hit a 3-ball which was desperately needed after 1-8 start for DG

Watson distributing the ball well tonight

Mark and Croshere debating Granger foul

Granger drew a foul and Cro thought it looked like a classic Reggie leg kick. Boyle is not giving it up so easy. Pacers down 2

Haha

Danny better be careful, that move is pretty much trademarked!

by jantz101 on Oct 23, 2009 8:00 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Watson ties it up

nice effort so far for Earl.

by Tom Lewis on Oct 23, 2009 8:01 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Granger and 1

misses the one along with another 3-ball.

by Tom Lewis on Oct 23, 2009 8:06 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Yeah

At some point maybe they should think about passing some of those threes up! Great job on the hustle stats, 8 offensive boards, only 5 turnovers. Hopefully shots start falling!

Halftime: Spurs 61, Pacers 58

Much better effort tonight, keeping pace with the Spurs.

fouls and free throws about even, which makes a huge difference.

small ball lineup starts second half

don’t mind this small lineup with Watson, Dhantay, Rush, Granger, Hibbert

by Tom Lewis on Oct 23, 2009 8:36 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Seems to be working so far

I don’t know how thrilled Danny is to be guarding McDyess though! He’s gonna leave this game with some bumps and bruises!

by jantz101 on Oct 23, 2009 8:39 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Whoa

Sounds like Roy just made a big move against Duncan finishing with a reverse dunk.

Boyle and Cro both went crazy!

by Tom Lewis on Oct 23, 2009 8:41 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Nice!

Looking forward to seeing moves like that for years to come!

by jantz101 on Oct 23, 2009 8:43 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Of course, Duncan calmly dropped a shot at the other end to answer.

Almost forgot about Blair

He’s on the court now making some plays.

by Tom Lewis on Oct 23, 2009 8:48 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Haha

There are some people on this blog who haven’t forgotten about Blair!

by jantz101 on Oct 23, 2009 8:52 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

heh

I’m a Blair fan myself. Surprised he hasn’t played much tonight.

by Tom Lewis on Oct 23, 2009 8:57 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yeah

Especially against the smaller lineups the Pacers have been playing. I guess speed might be an issue?

by jantz101 on Oct 23, 2009 9:01 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Could be a sign he won’t play much during the regular season considering how many minutes the top of their rotation has logged tonight. Playing the first half like a regular season game.

by Tom Lewis on Oct 23, 2009 9:03 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Thats what I was thinking too. He could be a force to reckon with in the coming years. Our second round pick hasn’t looked too shabby tonight. 10 points against a lot of the first stringers for A.J.

End 3Q Pacers up 92-82

No 3rd quarter let down tonight. Wow

by Tom Lewis on Oct 23, 2009 8:58 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Whoa

It’s the Ian Mahinmi show. Spurs cut lead down to 2.

by Tom Lewis on Oct 23, 2009 9:24 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

McRoberts makes a play at both ends to keep the Pacers in front.

by Tom Lewis on Oct 23, 2009 9:27 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Doh!

Turnover gives Spurs a chance to tie.

by Tom Lewis on Oct 23, 2009 9:30 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

41 minutes

For Granger in a pre-season game. We need more healthy bodies!
