Game Thread #48: New York Knicks at Indiana Pacers

New York Knicks at Indiana Pacers, Jan 31, 2009 7:00 PM EST

New York Knicks
@
 Indiana Pacers
20-2519-28
January 31, 2009 - 7:00PM EST
Conseco Fieldhouse
Radio: 1070AM WFNI   TV: Fox Sports Indiana
Probable starters:
Chris Duhon PG T.J. Ford
Quentin Richardson SG Mike Dunleavy
Al Harrington SF Danny Granger
David Lee PF Troy Murphy
Jared Jeffries C Jeff Foster

UPDATE: Bruno's Inside the Game LIVE is up. T.J. and Danny are starting.

When the Knicks used to come to town in the the '90s, it was easy to think, time to buckle up because the game was going to be intense and tough for 48 minutes. Ten years later, you still need to buckle up for a Knicks visit but that's because of the pace both the Pacers and Knicks prefer to play these days.

The Knicks have won two in a row and five of their last six, so the Pacers will need their best effort to extend their home win streak to nine. Danny Granger will be a game-time decision and even if he plays, probably will run for limited minutes.

Here are the Pacers.com Matchups. T.J. Ford appears set to take over his starting position again.

Laser 3 from Granger

gets the scoring started from Pacers. Serious line drive.

So the Knicks center, Jared Jeffries has been guarding TJ Ford.

Only in America.

that's d'antoni's favorite gimmick.

jeffries has done work against rondo, nash, andre miller…everybody. it has its moments.

NYK up 16-14

Crazy pace. Pacers need to make a few more shots. 6-17 so far.

Knicks putting a little run on

up 43-35

Should be a few of these tonight. Just need to answer.

Might as well try to create a mismatch with Roy in the middle

Ack

Down 16 as the 3-ball barrage continues

I imagine the shooting percentages will even out a bit

There we go!

Back-to-back 3s from Dun.

Lead back down to 11.

I’m fine with Hibbert but JOB’s lack of a rotation is insane

NYK up 67-55 at half

Knicks had 8 3s in the second quarter.

Better check on Q Richardson’s season high if this keeps up.

Knicks won the 2nd qtr...

maybe the Pacers will buck the trend and win the 3rd quarter. I’m off to wash dishes.

Stevie!

Pacers hanging around thanks to Graham’s 7 quick points.

NYK 19-point lead cut to 11.

WOW

a shot clock violation! Didn’t think there’d be any of those tonight.

by Tom Lewis on Jan 31, 2009 8:34 PM EST reply actions

Lead at 12

Granger back out there to give it a go. Nice and 1. The guy has no lift though.

Wish Quisy was available.

NYK up 99-87 after 3

Pacers lingering around, just doesn’t feel like they have enough for the Knicks tonight.

Hope I’m wrong.

5:47 left

NYK up 12 with 2 FTs coming to TJ.

If only Granger could muster up a couple of big minutes.

There's one Danny

 Down to 8.

Granger was able to use some momentum from running to get enough juice on that 3-ball.

Last gasp.

by Tom Lewis on Jan 31, 2009 9:07 PM EST reply actions

Too bad

Let too many chances get away. Tons of opportunities and they just couldn’t get over that hump tonight. Nothing to do but get rested and ready for Minnesota.

Even after all these years, I still hate losing to the Knicks.
