Around SBN: Steve McNair Found Shot to Death

Summer League Open Thread: Pacers vs. Bulls

Well, some of the Pacers against a lot of young Bulls, but you get the idea. The game should start around 7:30PM and can be seen here. If that doesn't work go through the Orlando Summer League site. I will try to watch most of it, so if there are any other crazy people watching and listening to the inane banter, feel free to drop some comments on this post.

Game is on

No banter, in fact no announcers at all. No scoreboard shot yet either.

Someone just drew a charge on Noah. Nice play, someone.

Pacers down 11-9

I think. Like the way Calloway sets the tempo. He was just stuffed on a drive by Rose, again, I think. Well, he was definitely stuffed. Pretty sure it was Rose.

Nice

After a couple of dicey plays, Josh Davis has a nice follow dunk on a missed jumper by Calloway.

Earl of Turnovers

Couple of bad ones from Calloway.

Rush and Hibbert

Are Rush and Hibbert gonna join the roster tommorow or are they not going to participate in the summer league???

by Spaethe on Jul 8, 2008 7:32 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

They aren't expected to make any summer league games

The deals are announced tomorrow but there are other details they have to deal with. Not sure what, but I’ve just heard they aren’t expected to play.

Whoa

Tyrus Thomas just returned a Golu (sorry have to check the spelling) Golubovic jump hook for a larger size.

Rose clankin'

open mid-range jumpers. Those are sweet looking misses though.

Ahh, summer league…

Calloway back

and controlling the action again. Nice job getting to the hoop and the line.

When in doubt

call a charge. No foul limit and it keeps the game moving. Nice work refs.

Half - tied at 35

My boys are obsessed with the show Wipeout which is on right now. That first half was about as entertaining as this ridiculous show. Here’s to hoping the second half is a little more entertaining.

Hey, there's Larry Bird

and David Morway. Drats! I can’t read lips. LB goin’ with the sockless loafers and socks. Perfect.

by Cornrows on Jul 8, 2008 8:07 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

and shorts

I meant, sockless loafers and shorts. Still, perfect. Halftime has officially surpassed the first half action, for entertainment value.

It would be nice

to see something from Shawne Williams and Stephen Graham. Shawne can’t seem to get out of third gear, but he also has no problem getting scoring opportunities. Just doesn’t appear to be in the mood to dominate. Maybe by design. Summer league, remember, it’s summer league.

Courtney Sims

is a short 6’11”. Nice and active, though.

by Cornrows on Jul 8, 2008 8:18 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Josh davis

knocks down the 3-ball, then draws a charge. Nice range.

by Cornrows on Jul 8, 2008 8:19 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Shawne

Nice strong rebound, take up court to free throw line, and dish to corner for an open 3-ball (splash). Nice play. Pacers up 44-42

Sweet steal and hustle

by Davis, kept the ball alive. Ended with Calloway layup. Action is picking up.

Pacers defense

much better. Adding a little more intensity and scrap to the effort. Ooo, nice finish on the break by Calloway. Earl is solid, flat out. Love to see him playing with more talent around him.

Another

sweet play by Earl after D’ing up Rose, causing a wild shot, eventually took the ball into the lane and kicked out for an open, corner 3-ball. Nice finish to the quarter.

Playing rotation

pretty tight. Giving Davis, Calloway, and Maric getting a lot of time. A little Andre Emmett, a little Golubovic.

Im looking for a lot more from Williams kind of let down

When do you think the announcement will come about the Pacers new guys tomorrow?

by Brent Beck on Jul 8, 2008 8:48 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Ha ha

they’ll probably do it at 7AM to finally get it over with. No, I imagine it will be in the afternoon so some actual press can be on hand.

What jersey is Ford going to wear? 11!?! We havent got rid of Tinsley yet?

Thats our biggest dilemma of the week!!!!!!!
My vote….. actually undecided because I dont want to see someone wearing 11 already yet…. I kind of feel like Tinsley ruined it in a sense

Brent Jonathan Beck

by Brent Beck on Jul 8, 2008 8:52 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I think Ford will wear it

Tinsley’s jersey is on sale at the Fieldhouse for 90%. This way the team can take those and slap ‘Ford’ on ‘em and mark the price up again. Gotta pinch pennies until the fans return.

yes sir

Shawne 2-2 from the stripe… not to mention rockin the white and black J’s (Jordans for those non- b-ball shoe people)

I think it was Graham

Graham is 23 and Emmett is 29.

by Cornrows on Jul 8, 2008 8:57 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Ouch! IUm loving Williams.....

Still tuck the shirt in baby, come on we cant have that jazz!!!!!!!
He needs to box out and rebound on every play too…. Wheres the coach at???? Geez louise get some fire…. some of that INTRINSIC/ EXTERNAL REGULATIN MOTIVATION!

Brent Jonathan Beck

by Brent Beck on Jul 8, 2008 8:58 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I think Bickerstaff

is also joining the staff. A couple of old head coaches to help the new head coach with no experience.

by Cornrows on Jul 8, 2008 9:01 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Nice break

Earl with the long pass to Stevie for the finish and 1.

by Cornrows on Jul 8, 2008 9:04 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Honestly...

I know most love Graham… but I dont… I would much rather us save the effort and ship him out of town… or at least tell him to make sure 75% of the shots he wants to take during these games…. need to go to Williams….. he is the dude we need to either increase the value of…. or get more experience because he could be a factor…

I'm Graham's biggest supporter

but I tend to agree with you, especially with Brandon Rush coming on board.

Haven't a clue

Can’t remember the last time I watched a game without running stats to refer to. Driving me nuts!

Whoa

lost my connection there for awhile. All hell is breaking loose outside.

by Cornrows on Jul 8, 2008 9:19 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Not to change the subject or anything-

Looks like Elton Brand is going to be a Sixer.

East coast guy

Thanks for the heads up. ESPN report

That improves the Eastern Conference.

Thats a slap in the face to B-Diddy

I was looking forward in a way to see them play together.
