After an exhilarating win against the Lakers last night the Pacers have to shed the good feelings and focus on a roadie at the defending champion Boston Celtics. It's hard to look at the matchups and the way the Celtics have been playing lately and get hyped up for this one. Especially after the emotional W last night.
But, as usual, the Pacers need to take care of the ball and knock down a few shots in order to be in this one. Fatigue shouldn' t be an excuse since the foul situation spread out the minutes last night. Danny Granger and Troy Murphy played big minutes but they'll be ready to go.
Here are the Pacers.com matchups.
Check out CelticsBlog for the Boston perspective. Here's my Q & A with CelticsBlog which admittedly was done pretty early this morning after wading through the post-game excitement last night.
Gameday Reading
- Bruon's LIVE! Blog caught all the action laslt night as it happened.
- Mike Wells recap of the win over the Lakers. Also has this great picture of the Pacers bench reacting as Murph's tip went in and has Larry Bird, David Morway and Herb Simon (blue tie, at least I think that's Herb) in the background also going crazy. Cool.
- Bob Kravitz enjoyed the Pacers W and the text messages Reggie Miller was sending him during the game.
- Jim O'Brien understands why the Pacers continually run a free throw deficit but would still like to limit the differential.
- The Lakers can find plenty of reasons why they lost last night.
- Oh, and the Celtics are waiting to exact some revenge tonight.

I’m going to be at the game tonight (probably) but in some cheap seats. Anything I should look out for? I haven’t been able to see much Pacer ball this year being out in Boston so I’m looking forward to seeing the team, even if they are worn out from last night’s game. Let me know if there’s anything that won’t show up on TV or in the box score for me to keep an eye on.

Well, for starters
if the ball and player movement are active on offense with limited turnovers, you should have a smile on your face.

Any idea if Foster is playing? Any other injuries (other than Dunleavy)?

Don’t expect Dunleavy or Diener to play. I’m not expecting Foster either since a flight to Boston probably wouldn’t help the back spasms. But with Foster you never know.

Another solid start for the Pacers
Down 28-27 after 1Q. Seemed to surprise the C’s by attacking the hoop early in the game.

Foster is playing
and causing problems, drawing a good vet foul on Powe.

Wow
Pacers with 20 points in the pain already.

12-0 run for C's
Timeout 3:49 left in half, 48-40 Celts. Too many outside shots clanking for Pacers, not getting to the hoop anymore.

Granger with a sweet runner to stop the run
but C’s defense has cranked up. Yikes!

C's up 57-51 at the half
Pacers weathered the late storm pretty good after falling behind by ten points.

Pacers running out of gas?
Shots hitting the front fim, no answer for C’s on defense.
Boston up 73-57 with 7:28 left in 3Q

Celtics in firm control up 85-65
Wasn’t sure if the Pacers were going to score again for a while there.

Jack 3-ball to close 3Q
Cuts lead to 14. Boston up 88-74.
Ha ha, have ’em right where we want ’em. Boston scoring too easily tonight, though.

Whoa, that was strange
Apparently the foul on TJ Ford should’ve included shots. The refs checked it out on the break and the C’s didn’t have a foul to give. So they take Jack’s 3-ball off the board and Ford shoots free throws. So after 3 it was Bos up 88-73

10-0 run put this one away
Pacers empty the bench with 4:30 left. C’s now up 110-89

Congratulations on beating the hated Lakers from your friends at Blazers Edge
I hope you have at least tired the Celtics a bit for us ;-)
