Bruno is LIVE Blogging as usual.

Here are the Pacers.com matchups which again show the Pacers missing a few key contributors. Apparently the viral infection remains a factor for Danny Granger, Marquis Daniels and Troy Murphy.

Coach Jim O'Brien still was uncertain just exactly who would be available to play against the Nets Tuesday. Though Danny Granger, Marquis Daniels and Troy Murphy are no longer hospitalized by viral infections, none were strong enough to practice. They may well be in uniform but likely would be available, if at all, for limited minutes.

At this points, even 5-10 minutes from these guys would be helpful for a little depth. According to Kevin Lee from 1070 The Fan, Murphy isn't expected to play but Granger and Quisy (Queasy?) will be a game-time decision.

Regardless, it appears the Pacers won't play the Nets at full strength. Earlier in the season Danny Granger missed one of the two wins over the Nets earlier in the season. The difference this time though is that the Nets will have Devin Harris available unlike the past two games. Not only is Harris back, but he's been lighting up opponents while running the dribble-drive offense for the Nets. A point guard potentially lighting up the Pacers is always a concern, more so tonight.

So this game becomes a huge challenge for the Pacers, but I've come to expect this team to rise to any challenge in front of them regardless of which players are available. Tonight is no different.

For the New Jersey perspective, check out Nets Daily.

Gameday Reading

  • Mike Wells focuses on the improved play of Devin Harris.
  • This requires listening, but The Basketball Jones hits on an email from a listener yesterday involving Mike Dunleavy. Apparently, Dun was spotted at Christ the King for Mass on Sunday and wouldn't you know it, he shows up at practice the next day. Coincidence?

Leave your thoughts and observations in the comments.

Murph

Poor Troy. He is a heck of a player, but when he gets sick…he gets really sick.

Prediction

Tonight’s attendance will be the lowest of the season thus far due to the weather.

No doubt

Serious ice rink out there. The Nets should feel at home.

Granger is playing

but the Pacers are weathering a Vinsanity barage. Carter has 16. Nets up early 22-16.

Pacers up 57-56 half

Plenty of offense in this one. JOB has gone 10 deep. Diener finished the half strong with 2 of 3 treys. Pacers are 7 of 9 from 3 land.

Hopefully Vince will slow down in the second half. He has 23 already.

QB is right, Vince has no lift

but is still savvy around the bucket. He’s teaching Brandon a few tricks tonight.

Tied at 61

Dun looks sweet

I think he’s wearing that in case any of his sick teammates hurl on him.

Patch

When I first saw it I thought it was the secondary logo, but I’m confident it’s a Pacers logo of some sort.

NJ up 83-81 end 3Q

The back and forth flow continues. Someone’s gotta make some stops to take control of this game.

attendance

A little bit more than I expected honestly, but still, the weather is the reason tonight.

Boomer's Tail

Who tied it in a knot? What has that not been fixed all season?

Great

I was just wondering if he was going to come back to save the day.

by Tom Lewis on Dec 23, 2008 8:57 PM EST up reply actions

I don’t care who comes to save us, as long as it’s not Jack.

Back spasms for TJ

At least it isn’t a re-occurance of the muscle strain.

by Tom Lewis on Dec 23, 2008 8:59 PM EST reply actions

Thank God

At least he’s not out for an extended period of time, It’s a Christmas Miracle!

Nets up 6

Biggest lead so far for NJ. Don’t like the body language for the home team.

Steal of the game

When they say “due to overwhelming response” is that serious or sarcastic?

Thank you

Couple of stops, couple of buckets at the rim. NJ up 96-95

Time running out to slow down VC and Harris.

Boom baby

Diener gives Pacers lead 105-104. Never say die!

by Tom Lewis on Dec 23, 2008 9:15 PM EST reply actions

Diener, Jack, Rush, Granger, Foster

Lineup finishing the game so far. Make it happen fellas!

Harris is hurt

That sucks, even though he plays for Jersey, I hate to see injured players.

by Peter_sixtyftsixin on Dec 23, 2008 9:18 PM EST reply actions

Vince Carter

Is one of the dirtiest players I’ve seen all season.

by Peter_sixtyftsixin on Dec 23, 2008 9:19 PM EST reply actions

Come on Danny

Broke his 45 made FT streak and missed both, Pacers down 1. 41 seconds left.

by Tom Lewis on Dec 23, 2008 9:21 PM EST reply actions

Yikes

How in the world do the Pacers stop Carter/Harris combo?

by Tom Lewis on Dec 23, 2008 9:24 PM EST reply actions

defense

All I want for Christmas is ten seconds of defense

by Peter_sixtyftsixin on Dec 23, 2008 9:25 PM EST reply actions

6.7 Seconds or Less

Am I the only one who really felt that final Pacers possession should’ve been…longer? I thought we did a good enough job defensively in the final possession of the game, but as I saw Diener dribbling around inside of the arc, I wanted him so desperately to pull it out and try again. Even as Danny’s shot went down and I cheered, I knew, in the back of my mind, that ten seconds was simply too much time to gamble on for someone like Harris.

Of course, it was a mistake sending Bizarro Danny to the free throw line at the end as well. I’m not exactly sure what was wrong with Our World Danny that he wasn’t able to be at the line for those two shots. Oh well, we’ll just have to get ’em next time.

Rush

22 pts(8-12,4-5), 8 rebounds, 3 steals? Pretty good.

Insanity is just a state of mind.
