Tinsley Proposal
Whatup Pacer Fans? Would anyone here trade Tinsley for MoPete from the New Orleans Hornets? He's had some knee issues this year, and probably isn't much more then a bachup at this point, but he is a good character guy who can usually hit the three 9slow start this year) and defend. The Hornets would probably want the 1.9 mill you were about to give the nuggets. Essentially you get a vet backup for a player who isnt playing at all.

Maybe
if the Pacers could flip MoPete somewhere else. Personally, I think the Hornets would be smart to add Tinsley right now. The Pacers certainly don’t know MoPete but ending the Tinsley saga would be worth it even if they couldn’t flip him.

This is crazy but
what about Tinsley + Foster + Daniels for MoPete + Tyson Chandler? It works under the rules but I’m not sure that NO would ever do this.
Foster: 7.5 ppg, 6.1 boards per, PER of 15.33
Chandler: 8.2 ppg, 7.9 boards per, PER of 12.94
So these two are pretty similar and Foster would take most of Chandler’s minutes in NO at half the price. The Hornets would also get Tinsley as a quality backup PG in Tinsley. Daniels can help any playoff team but the best part is he is an expiring contract.
Our boys benefit because Chandler gives them an inside presence to guard the bigs that have been killing us all season and we get rid of Tinsley. MoPete can shoot and play D but lacks Daniels scoring. This problem is remedied if/when Dunlevey comes back. What do you think?

Also
NO only has 14 players under contract, so a 3 for 2 swap would work. I’m not a huge fan of Chandler and losing Foster would hurt from the money standpoint, but this would get Tinsley off our hands and get some quality back for him. Just spitballin’.

nope
Don’t get me wrong guys, I like Foster alot but not that much. Chandler is the linchpin of our defense (his slow start explains our slow start on d), and he just works too well with chris paul and d west to part with for an expiring contract, and two good bench players.
Mo Pete at least gives you some value for the Tinsley contract though admittedly not alot outside of locker room presence, three point shooting, and d.

Does anyone know
how a trade for picks is handled under the CBA? I was just looking and the Pacers could clear around 20 Mil under the cap for next season if they just gave Tinsley away for picks. Then we could target a 2009 FA like Carlos Boozer or someone like that.

I think the reason
that you only see trades for picks during the offseason is that the salary-matching rules only apply for teams that are over the cap (or would go over from the deal). Many teams are temporarily under the cap in the summer as they work on contract negotiations. That’s why the Clippers were able to get Camby for nothing — the Clips were under the cap after Brand left, so they didn’t have to match salaries.
Memphis (and maybe Charlotte) are under the cap during this season, so otherwise that deal would have to wait.

Tinsley just needs to go...
he is our own little Marbury. MoPete would be a nice addition, if the team can get on track.
