The Indiana Pacers play the first game of their Texas two step Tuesday night against the Dallas Mavericks. Former Pacers coach, Rick Carlisle will guide the Mavericks against the Pacers for the first time in a regular season game. The perennial Western Conference powerhouse Mavs take a 6-7 record into the game, although they've won four in a row.
Meanwhile the Pacers are desperate for a win and really need a solid effort at both ends of the floor to get 'er done in Dallas.
Here's the Pacers.com matchups and for a Dallas perspective, check out Mavs Moneyball.
More Game Day Reading
- Mike Wells notices the Pacers improved defense despite the recent losses.
- Wells blogs about the mysterious severity of Mike Dunleavy's knee injury.
- Mark Cuban won't be yelling at the refs tonight.
- Eddie Sefko likes what Jason Terry brings to the Mavs as much as I do.
I'm out in Seattle this week so my viewing options will likely be limited. Hopefully NBA Audio Pass has figured out how to pipe Boyle and Slick through the intertubes.
Leave your thoughts and observations on the game in the comments.

Dunleavy
I don’t understand all this secrecy about Dunleavy’s injured knee. If the man has bone spurs in his knee just say so. No one has ever questioned Dunleavy’s toughness or anything of that sort so why would the Pacers front office be concerned about keeping their fans informed.
The longer we wait on Dunleavy to return from an injury that was supposed to just keep him out a couple of games the more fans are going to begin spreading rumors. Fact of life. This whole situation is starting to stink of JO and JT injuries of the past. One day it is a minor injury and the next thing you know the player is out a month.

Caught the last minute
what a nightmare. According to Boyle and Slick, Granger didn’t play smart down the stretch. Great.

I love danny and he is one of my favorite players in the league right now.
but he is a #2 IMO. A good maybe great #2… but he isn’t a number 1, give him the ball in the 4th quarter and get out of the way kind of guy.
unfortunately, we don’t have a #1 on the roster.

To take some positives out of the game...
Rush had his best game of the year…after missing one or two chippies in the first half, had a beautiful dunk in the second half, and played all around great, putting in crunch time minutes and performing. It also seems as if Roy is buried on the bench now, so the rookies seem to be distinguishing themselves a little as to who will be getting time and not. With Dunleavy out, this is a perfect opportunity for Rush to learn on the job. I would like to see Roy get maybe 10-15 mins a game, cause i actually think when hes not in foul trouble he plays well. And what the hell is going on with Dunleavy, is there any concrete story out there????
