Kevin Lee dropped a sweet Pacers training camp report at 1070thefan.com after today's early practice which turns out to be the only practice today. Here are the key points:
- Troy Murphy sat out practice today with Travis Diener and Mike Dunleavy. Considered only a precautionary move for Murph's sore achilles.
- Jim O'Brien doesn't expect to bring in another PG to fill Diener's spot during camp. Marquis Daniels will fill the gap when necessary, although JOB doesn't plan on using Quisy at PG during the season, a strategy that didn't work too well last year.
- Hall of Fame coach and JOB father-in-law, Jack Ramsey is in town observing practice. Ramsey's consulting fee is time spent afterward with his daughter and grand-daughter.
This report also has full audio of JOB's comments after practice. In addition to addressing the above topics, he also expressed his happiness with the effort in camp thus far. He was pleased to see the group work through some tired legs during practice today.
He has high praise for Rasho Nesterovic and expects him to be in the mix for starter's minutes. Roy Hibbert is getting acclimated to the running expectations of JOB and adjusting to the pro game in JOB's system.
JOB also expects Shawne Williams to challenge for playing time at small forward, he's is having a strong camp so far, showing improvement from last year.
Josh McRoberts has also impressed JOB as the team's most athletic big man. Bruno's Caught in the Web has more on McRoberts and his hopes to contribute to the Pacers this year.
Wow! Life sounds good down at the Fieldhouse (well, except for the sideline adding another player). Huge ups, to Kevin for this update from camp!
